The Australian republic expanded greatly, absorbing much of New Guinea. In order to advance their dreams of a farmers democracy, the government made a system of roads to link Australia from east to west. This comes as railroads begun to spread into rural areas. Another major improvement was defense. A large military was created in order to defend the Republic of Australia.
Here is part of the speach of the minister of defense:

"Our nation will one day become a power that will be an example of democracy and freedom for the world. To achieve this, we need to defend ourselves. Our soldiers shall serve voulentarily and for pay. Militias can no longer fit the needs of our nation. We need an army to stand the test of time."


On the political front, a new system of government has been agreed upon, in which Australia will be devided into 4 regions:
East Australia
West Australia
Timor
New Guinea

Each of these will be divided into districts, that will elect their representatives, forming a senate. The president will be elected through direct elections.

The second map given is the district map:
Blue districts belong to East Australia. Red or Orange to western Australia. Yellow to Timor. Green to New Guinea.

While the country celebrated the opening of its first Factory, there were other developments along the southern borders. Some of the natives, encouraged by the prosperity of the region approached the council and requested to join the young dominion. the council thought that this must have been some sort of trick by the Southern Empire, apparently, it was not.

As the population grew steadily, the council were engrossed in another discussion... could they provide for the construction of yet another factory ? The budget, was growing, but there were other priorities to take care as well ... security, safety etc.

After a pretty long discussion it was apparent that there was clearly a division of opinions among the council memnbers. while some of them were of the opinion that the country should expand into other areas fast, others considered making the foundations strong, so that the people could live in peace. After much discussion, it was decided that the country was going to do bit of both : economy as well as some troops.

Word to our nation has reached that many other nations have begun industrialization, while ours has not yet done so, which may have weakened our standing. However, in response, we have begun the opening our first factory, bringing the paths for new jobs and thus a security for we Romanian people. Our unification campaign in the deep south of Romania has succeeded, with all of the local rebels declaring allegiance to our government. With our focus off the tips of the peninsula, we must now seek to regain the Cisalpine and the islands of Sicilia, Corsica and Sardinia.

A FEW DETAILS-
Government-True Democracy in the American-style: Bi-Cameral Legislative Branch, with a House of Representatives that has the members based on the population of that province, and a Senate with 2 Senators from each province; Executive Branch, with President and VP and that stuff; and Judicial Branch with the Supreme Court heading it. However, every person's vote counts in the elections, and there is no Electoral College.

Economy-Trade between provinces is free of extra tax. However, citizens doing trade as the owners of companies must give a 5% portion of all gained money to government for trade involving gold, precious metals, & useful minerals like uranium and iron. Trade between nations is closely monitored, but the trade is unrestricted unless dealing with the aforementioned materials, which can only be done by the government, or with permission from the government.

Now time to write up some roleplaying.
December 3rd, 1960. The elections are over, and I have been elected President of the NorthWestern American and Canadian Empire. The empire had fallen in shambles until a man named Marcus Onlan brought it together in a modeled perfect world. I have issued a construction project of a factory to assemble our weapons and armor and necessities, a road system, and five armies-the 1st Legion Ursus, the 2nd Legion Lupus, the 3rd Legion Tigris, the 4th Legion Augustum, and the 5th Legion Caesarium, all named after words and people in Latin. I have decided that our peaceful nation shall once again be a superpower that will survive for many years through many obstacles. Off on a remote island I am having constructed a secret landing that I fear will need use. It is designed so that any plagues or infestations will not breach it unless an infected person gets inside, which is impossible with our countermeasures installed, and the chance will be virtually impossible in the future. Also, a gift was given to me by my father yesterday, a personal-made NW Firearms Model 21 Sniper Rifle with extremely good optics and a sturdy bipod. I think I will try it out later today.
