Multipolarity II - Game Thread

Spoiler :
I motion we put this game on hold until Tani and I have figured out the final exercise of executive power.
I motion that we don't, since tani IS the final exercise of executive power. Tani is god, praise tani! Point is, tani laid out the rules as clear as day. They're there, and moreso, most of the new rules are what you desired in the first place. Tani went with a bulk of your requests in his new permission layout, so you complaining and wanting more time is illegitimate and pathetic.THe "previous agreement" is gone, and the new agreement should be satisfactory. Personally, I prefer the old rules where I get control of the armies, but tani decided to change it.

You've also been under time pressure for like, 3 weeks. Make time, bro, or I'll take advantage of your busy-ness and do something evil.

Victory is coming, brothers and sisters!

Spoiler :

The ringing of the hammer can be heard in the streets! The rumble of the factories never stops! Strong men pour liquid metal into molds of tanks, munitions, and weapons. Thousand-man regiments patrol around Moscow, doing maneuvers and drills.

Change is coming. The 3rd Regiment of Stalin loaded artillery shells and began practice bombardment at a local hill. Wooden targets were demolished. The 1st Protectorate of Lenin loaded their new assault rifles. Depleted uranium coated rounds were chambered into the rifles. A revolutionary design allowed for an automatic-loading rifle with a 40 round circular clip. The stopping power of a hunting rifle and the versatility of the AK-47. Old potato sacks filled with straw were ripped asunder. A Muscovian Guardian regiment patrolled the outskirts of the city. It had been months since the Nazi takeover of the Kremlin, and every day more of the rats were pulled out of their dens and publicly executed. Surprisingly, Joseph Stalin was found by a private regiment of Ivans'. Ivan himself had been liberated from his interrogation by Kremlin agents who fled the capture of the iconic government building. All in all, order had been restored to the Soviet Union.

Troops prepared for a simulated invasion. Should an opposing force enter Russian territory, the regiments had the means to construct temporary fortifications in half a day.

Rumors spread around the Soviet Union that another technological improvement was to come to the Soviet military. Perhaps other countries sympathetic to Communism and to the True Movement could use such technologies.

OOC: When it comes to the space race what are the requirements for a NGO space base? Do we require the stealing and purchase of techologies?

The truth is that everyone wants to win, that is the main reason, otherwise I would simple backstab all my allies and lose. Of course, P_F is winning, but is that the main reason you want to kick it? If so, I think the ones who want P_F out only wants the ssame thing as him, winning (according to your concept of winning), but in an unfair way. Also, is powergaming possible? I was reading some old threads of Poster Empires and such and in those you could powergame, but in this IOT there are rules.

MP2 is not exactly a "game to win." Crusader Kings 2 is not a game to win, nor is Dwarf Fortress, let both games have a quality of greatness.

I don't think NGOs can get space bases. Maybe they can put NGO bases on the space regions like they would normally, so I figure it's the same deal as putting bases in any other nations.

Obviously, an NGO can't dream of matching the industry/ballistics tech of a major power. Even with a client, the requirements of getting the client to achieve the necessary technology is infinitely small.

I don't play MP to win, I play MP to stir the pot and with the intention not to lose.

I agree with ailedhoo when it comes to winning. You can't realistically control all provinces in the game, there's too much opposition. If tani hadn't nerfed me, there's a small small chance I could have taken over alot of Asia/Europe (though I likely would have been stomped way before I got close).

That being said, I've been accused of "playing-to-win". I admit that I'm just having fun. In fact, all the chaos and dissent I've caused has been heart-warming, although not quite as impressive as GaP 2 (yet). The only difference between my rabble-rousing in GaP 2 and MP2 is that GaP 2 had far less whining, and my opposition didn't rage quit or try to get me kicked. Hum.

I think we all want to "stir the pot" in one way or another. The key though, and I told R_S this (an elementary concept even a new player can pick up on), the key is to have fun, stir up trouble, and play the game in your style without dying.

I mean, theoretically you could mass nukes and wipe away entire nations with a button press for fun. That sounds cool, but the key is to get that point without dying. And R_S, for the 2nd time, made the mistake of not properly defending his country while building up a nuclear arsenal.

Not that I have nuking plans in the future. My eyes are set on space! :scan:

It depends. Tani may issue a guide to allow Bond space bases to appear. Techology can be... "barrowed" if the need be. The only question is the site to launch into space from; it will have to be deployed in a location which people may not question smoke colums with a bursting fire coming from a normal looking hill.

Anyrate here is hoping the 31st century may has the requirements for a sealthy launch...

The USSR proudly announces the beginning of the Soviet Space Program!

Comrades, brothers and sisters of the working class, I have great news. For centuries, mankind has gazed up and admired the complexity of the skies, of the stars and the moon. They tracked celestial movements and observed as best they could, but the heavens always remained unattainable.

We stand here today a nation of scientists, of workers, of farmers, of soldiers, and we have all felt the burdens of recent times. Wars, embargoes, blockades, bombings, and death have become commonplace in our time. We were once a crushed nation, motivated only by the savage desire to expand and restore the USSR to her former glory.

According to salvaged historical documents, the USSR was the first in the world to attain space technologies, and were the pioneers into the new Front. That torch has long since faded, and memories of our glorious feats in space have been forgotten.

No longer! We, the People of the Soviet Union, will accept the challenge and become the first to step foot in space! We will put aside our war-ridden history. We will not be remembered as "aggressors", but rather as pioneers and visionaries - men who achieved what others could not through peace and cooperation.

This is your Premier, Joseph Stalin. I ask that every Soviet citizen prepare himself or herself for the journey that lay ahead of us.

We will never decline! We will always move forward!

What I mean is.. if you want rockets, you gotta build em. Where are you going to get the materials?

…and now on Mandatum TV, to interview those in position of global policies, Tom Drones is here to be speak up in…

What is the Answer?

…and here is our special questionnaire thyself: Tom Drones!

Greeting citizens of the planet Gaia!

As you all know space is the final frontier. Through the last millennium humanity has commence space voyages but the chaos that kept repeating itself throughout the history of the last millennium has ensured that not only do space technology keeps resetting itself but that colonies already made are lost, via decline or becoming a independent force from Earth. Now space is on the headlines as technology has been issued on the horizon, with Mandatum’s own space expert, Doctor Yuri Tredyakovsky, suggesting that the technology will be a mainstream ambition that ALL sources may look towards. Let will it be possible for all to reach the stars or some? Will this be peaceful or become let another cynical frontier of military confrontation? How will Mandatum ensure peace is ensured throughout the starry void? Does Mandatum have a place? What of Corcusant, a space colony on our world; will they be a key component? Will order be ensured?

Speaking with us is a man who places the mind to all issues. With proud heritage as the decedent of Mandatum’s founder’s brother, he is ever linked to the root of our formation and now comes to uphold the heritage of his family by serving us all as Chief of Idea. I speak of course… of Vito Di Caprio!

hunt-on-for-criminal-mastermind-norman-scarth.jpg

Vito: Greetings citizen Tom Drones.

Tom: I feel honoured questioning our founder’s…

Vito: Please, I do not need to be worshiped. Even the Di Caprio family is humble before the awesome powers that are Mandatum. The Di Caprio is but dust to the power that it spawned.

Tom: Let by accident as…

Vito: Out viewers need not be given the history lesson they should already know, Tom. Now your questions?

Tom: O yes… well… space has proved to open itself once more Vito Di Caprio. Russia has already announced plans for a space program. Corcusant is likely to reconnect with their space comrades in a possible space race and powers like the SUDS could possibly follow their own footsteps, alas on the SUDS part not using Greenland and Hainan as the gateways to their “quest to spread the revolution across the stars.” So… what is your primal view on the matter?

Vito: My view is of the objective observer. I watch, I learn, I conclude. Like chocolate strawberries this will catch on well. Statesmen love to make massive statements and placing one your marks in the void is a sure way to give you prestige. If Niccolò Machiavelli rose from the dead and was interviewed by you Tom Drones then I guess the great guider on power would see some of the possibilities in this. There are things to gain in space and the world likes to gain. We all like to gain, even if blood comes in issue as noted with issue of conflict. Whatever the case the pragmatic and the wise power seekers will use this for the advantage of their own to increase their own powers. A conflict may appear but in this will be the gain of Mandatum, which will observe the case and then make haste their policies to exploit this new era, this next chance to not fall down from the Heavens again as humanity has done before as shown by the countless dark ages that plagued the history of humanity.

Tom: On issue of Mandatum; what is its official policy on the issue?

Vito: I am afraid the General Director has issued that any official policies will be given out after the next primal meeting. What I can say is that we are not going to let no gain be gained for Mandatum on the new chance for the peoples of Terra to reach the stars… or in the case of Corcusant to show off their space swimming skills.
Tom: Resources are vital though, especially on the technological front. Will there be a global space class system emerging as powers will the resources and technology to go to space exploiting the Earth bounded powers?

Vito: Well… a class system metaphor is incorrect on this issue. What I can say is of course there will be a power division. This is natural. To rise above you must take correct policies to make up for your ills. My personally suggestion is Niccolò Machiavelli’s work for that may give insight in how to grow above the giants. I also suggest one does consider setting their economies into the areas which allows them into the stars. This frontier should not be ignored. To ignore the benefits of space is to set to the path of a decline.

Tom: Russia will likely be among the stars. They already issue their policies. You take on the matter?

Vito: I can see why the world, especially Mandatum, may have a cynical worry that the USSR may exploit space for… war purposes. That said we may be judging before the supposed “sin” is committed. The USSR may have proven to be ill to the forces of Mandatum but we must not presume they are bounded to ill policy. Civilian and scientific purposes are likely to take hold on mind. It is a naïve to presume the military will have no part but remember that all nations are set to exploit space for evil purposes for as Niccolò Machiavelli noted all humans are set for selfish purposes, which military means tend to aid in the short or even long run.

Tom: Niccolò Machiavelli is sure you’re tabled of commandments. Speaking of commandments… your wife Maria is a wonderful soul…

Vito: Yes and I know the plot of which your plan to issue an issue that is derailing from the topic I was issued here to talk of.

Tom: But you sure to understand the importance…

Vito: My wife’s position as Chairman of the Honesty Department is not part of a cynical conspiracy set by the will of the Di Caprio family. I am not plotting to replace the officials of Mandatum with Di Caprio members and friends.

Tom: But sir…

Vito: I am not planning to coup the General Director, I am not plotting to reward my family to “regain our family right,” I am not dominating the mind of the General Director; I am not having ill thoughts to my fellow comrades…

Tom: But sir…

Vito: … I am not of the issue of exploiting my position for some quest of prestige, nor am I likely to answer yes to any of these questions those that strive for my position or are paranoid to the most uneducated level would likely to issue.

Tom: But Vito, I was…

Vito: I know you would “do your duty” but those likely to set our undermining the purpose of Mandatum. This interview is over. Have a good day!

Tom: But Vito I was not asking about your wife’s position as Chairman of… o dear, the Chief of Ideas has left the studio in a storming rush. Well… I guess the show is over earlier than planned. We will organise something quick. For now have an advertisement break. Good blessing viewers and judge everything!

Christos masterfully commanded the NPCs from behind the scenes and built up enough power over the turns to quickly and rapidly annex China and reform the Empire. I'd say Christos beat Thorvald there; Thorvald just homorously took over Christos' NGO slot. :p

That's right. Why everyone denies that I defeated Thorvlad in MP? I was not bankrolled by anyone and all states that joined my Empire were couped by my spies. It is not like I couped only Wuchan and Beijing and the rest states that did not take part in the invasion were independent and joined the Empire because Tani wanted to have fun in China. All Chinese NPC's, except Gangia and Pakistan, were couped by CRF. Just some of them invaded Xinjiang and some other did nothing.

Considering that the NPCs WERE GIVEN TOO MUCH POWER ABOVE WHAT THEY SOULD BE IN A GAME PLAYED BY PLAYERS, the issue was not of Jeho style mastery but of... certain blunders, especilly on the GM's part.

Anyway may we focus all future posts on the game then on issues that can be debated in another thread? I know IOT is a spamfest but this... is getting insane.

Correction: The -major- NPCs were given too much power (like Korea being bankrupted by Oz, oh the fun that was). The minor NPCs were more or less there to take up land and force players to fight for their loyalty. NGOs had some extra sway over minor NPCs... extra sway that I'm trying to convince Thorvald should stil lbe in effect this game.

I assume that's his main point of concern where I violate the initial agreement; NGOs gain so much from being able to exercise a great deal of control over the states they've cliented, and having NGO orders take precedence over any other order ensures that there's no conflict of interest.

Anyway, yes. No MP1 talk outside of RP please...

...I was running with the whole "most of recorded history has been wiped out" angle but I may as well retcon this whole game into only a few decades after MPR.

...I was running with the whole "most of recorded history has been wiped out" angle but I may as well retcon this whole game into only a few decades after MPR.

OOC: I better start thinking of ways to blend E.V.I.L into the game then. Its legacy in the USSR could bring... some humour into the matter.

Anyway as long as the time line in reguards to Mandatum's history is not injured in the process I will be fine with MPR being inbetween MP1 and MP2.

Well timeline wise it seems Thor and I's initial plans were both derailed by the player base. MPR wasn't supposed to be too direct of a sequel, but many players rolled with it anyways. MP2 likewise is supposed to be so far in the future there's minimal influence on the plot by MP1/R, but alas, that didn't happen either!

At the very least this is proving my philosophical theories! Any system that is too sturdy will eventually fall apart due to relying on ideal actors, and the masses are unpredictable. :p

My system isn't sturdy. It's ever changing because I realise that when I patch up one hole in this boat, another is opened up. Nerf army power, industry is runaway. Nerf industry, trade is runaway. Nerf trade, WMD is runaway. Etc. etc.

The never ending spiral of nerfingdom. Yum.

In the future, I am applying Occam's Razor. I am going to cut out a lot of the complexity. :p The less things that can be screwed up, the less likely things will be screwed up.

Why not add hats to the game? Valve does it all the time when they make a nerf in TF2! :p

The USSR Unveils the first converted ICBM!

Spoiler :
tEmSa.jpg

For the past few years, the USSR has seen an exponential increase in WMD technologies. We have pioneered the creation of weapons that can wipe out entire cities. I, Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin, proudly announce the conversion of the first weapon of death into a weapon of science!

We discovered a dormant ICBM deep within a long-since empty installation. Our scientists have been working day and night, and we finally discovered the method of removing the weapon's payload. Soon we will dismantle the great weapon and learn how it is used. With these rockets, we can achieve our dream of venturing into space!
