OOC: Considering that the debate have turned ugly with both sides attacking one another and accusing each other of being a totalitarian state. I'd figure it's best that we start the debates off on the right foot. Since this is getting way fracking out of hand, even for my sanity!

Its strange how every time the Republic of Solitude returns correspondence in this particular discussion, that they constantly change their position so long as its convenient for them.

What we have here, is a failure to communicate! The accusations the Pope is making is no different than the accusations we've made. The statements that we are committing ideological tyranny, anti-religious bigotry and social totalitarianism are utterly baseless! I'm quite furious that I have to address you personally on this matter and correct these baseless accusations made by the Holy See.

I am called to attention on one particular statement that you've taken on as part of defining our own domestic policies in governance by blowing it out of proportion: "If its based on the Christian Catholic doctrine, then it goes completely against secular and socially liberal leaning states." When that statement was made, we were going by the social conservative policies and practices within the Holy See. Not the theological dogma of the church itself. Instead, the context was taken as being against the Church and Catholicism, which is not the case.

When you made that clarification on what the basics of moral values of Catholic Christianity is and our scholars looked into it more, we backed off that statement we made earlier because we've gained more knowledge about a religion that is relatively little known to us in the post-apocalyptic world. I agreed with the observations that the Fraternal Order that there is a lack of understanding between Solitude and the Holy See.

The Solitude Republic is not opposed to people living their faith in public life. It's certainly not opposed to politicians living their faith in political life. Despite what the Holy See accuses us of. Point blank, the Government under my administration is not, I repeat, not radically against any religious faith what so ever!

One would have to question the intentions of Solitarian candidature in light of its obvious attempts to sow divisions between nations with utterly baseless accusations, and superpose its own domestic (and otherwise legitimate) ideological position in an international organization irrespective of the diversity of cultures and political forms in the world community of states.

We don't have intentions whatsoever to impose our domestic policies into the international organization. We just want to ensure that the Holy See does not abuse their powers imposing their social conservatism found in their society onto other nations. We aren't sowing any sort of divisions, we were merely voicing our own concerns on the subject of The Pope imposing, or potentially imposing, his brand of social conservatism on other nations of the world. A simple statement from the Holy See that other nation's Sovereignty will be respected would have been sufficient enough instead of dragging on assuming that were making accusations.

Incidentally as an aside, we point out the moral values of Catholic Christianity of charity, love of neighbor, and care for the poor. Apparently these universally apparent aspects of christian thought are unknown in New England.

Since this was lost amongst the shuffles in the debates. I found that the values you placed in don't conflict with any of our values. Surely we have freedom of religion and the separation of church and state. When we made that controversial statement that, unfortunately, painted us as wrongly anti-religious. We were nearly referencing the social conservatism present in the society of the Holy See, as I stated earlier.

To clarify facts that the Holy See is accusing us with. The Republic of Solitude is a democratic state and freedom of religion is guaranteed in the Constitution do that all people in the Republic can worship or not freely. There is a separation of church and state within the Republic. when I stated that religion has no basis in governance, what I mean is that our laws do not base itself with religious connotations (ex. Banning the consumption of shellfish because God said so.). There are exemptions of course with Christian concepts of loving thy neighbor, helping the poor, but are worded in a religious neutral language.

The Solitude Republic apologizes to the Holy See for its errors and making offensive accusations. Remember, our society were living in underground vaults for the duration of the course of the Cataclysms. Our knowledge on the Holy See is limited due to our materials being of US origin (Coruscanti texts were lost when they abandoned the planet and destroyed by the Sith Empire later on).

The Republic of Solitude is dropping the separation of church and state from it's platform and is instead replacing it with a guarantee to respect other nation's sovereignty.

I do not represent a state. Therefore, I cannot be accused of political bias. Furthermore, this allows me to concentrate my full attention on UN administration while you schmucks blow yourselves upheads of state devote their energies to domestic affairs.

I actually take this job seriously. I will develop the best possible policy to address global concerns through extensive consultation with member states.

Also NGO ipso facto ineligible I would think since were talking about a Union of NATIONS and only states can be full members. Tani could presumably clarify that if there are vagaries about.

Oh so I presume you are voiding your candidature ipso facto your supporting Thorvald (irrespective of the possibility of ineligibility on his part). Considering as per the rules candidature and endorsing another candidate are mutually exclusive activities.
