Operation: Delegation
Hello my fair players.
To try and improve the quality of the game (and my ability to GM it), I will be testing a new system that oddly has never been tried before in IOT.
Benefits of the system for the GM:
-Less work, ergo less chance of GMquit
-Much less time consuming for updates
Benefits for the player:
-Much less time consuming for updates
-Players can edit their orders for the most part without needing another PM
-Players can calculate their spending on the spot rather than needing a calculator
What is this proposed system?
1. Please take a minute to sign up for
Google Docs – it’s free and easy (you can sign up with a gmail.com account or other accounts). Docs is normally used by GMs to post their spreadsheets and you’ll need it for my proposal to work.
You do not need to download anything; docs is hosted on the Google server and thus is in your browser.
2. Send me your google docs address in a PM or VM (avoids cluttering the thread).
3. I will send you an URL to a spreadsheet that you have co-ownership of; it will have columns for most types of spending. I suggest you bookmark it for the duration of the game.
4. Now, instead of sending a PM, you can just fill out the columns (leave it blank if no spending, of course), which will make it easier for both of us as you just need to type in numbers, and I just need to copy/paste them. Your sheet will be only known to you, but you can share it with your allies if you wish.
5. You are free to edit this spreadsheet without penalty provided it is before the lock. You can even check how much you’ve spent by highlight all the columns.
6. Obviously things such as espionage directives or sending/receiving money from other players should be in an actual PM on CFC. Most of your orders (including army percentages, tax changes, nuclear weapons construction, etc.) can be entered via the spreadsheet however.
7. As a reward for making this game more enjoyable for both GM and player in terms of labor efficiency, those who do this will receive 100 gold each turn (this applies this turn as well, and is cumulative with bonuses for early orders). In addition, because all the spending is more or less in one place, the “all in one PM” rule will be lifted on CFC.
