I used to listen to Dave Matthews and Bob Dylan chiefly, but, while they still make up a large part of my playlist, I've diversified some into 60s-80s rock and rap.

Rap and Hip Hop are good for dancing, its really wicked awesome for that ****.

Emo serves no purpose and should just not exist

Making fun of Screamo is immensly fun too. A little scream isn;t to much, but WHOAH, some of that **** is crazy.

how about this? all music is awesome if you take the time to stop being stupid and actually listen to it. Even country (yes it is possible!)

free your mind man, listen to it all thats what i do

I listen to blues. Also 80s pop, Clapton, and a bunch of indie stuff. I am somewhat partial to The Mountain Goats, THe Decemberists, Modest Mouse...the list goes on, my friends.

Emo/Emu, you are a strange little person for only listening to computer game music. Very strange.

Why? still music aint it.

Indie is horrible, as is rap rnb hiphop, punk, emo, screamo, pop, techno rave, and some others.

Classic Rock and Metal reign supreme.

Indie is not horrible. It is a rather large and diverse category, and some of it can be quite wonderful. I certaintly prefer it to a bunch of men with bad hygeine yelling and playing garrishly loud guitar notes. There's something to be said for sublety - something which has, to a large degree, been ignored in music.

If it was made by a band formed after 1970, it isn't real music. The exceptions are soundtracks to particular movies, Broadway shows (Rent doesn't count because it sucks ass), and some rare modern classical music.

Well, yeah. But it just seems strange to limit yourself to only things released as part of games. But hey, whatever turns you on.

I like the music to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 :)

I'll be rockin' out to the chemical plant zone music

I like pretty diverse stuff, classical to metal. No particular favourite band ATM.

I guess i like 'dramatic' music, stuff with feeling behind it, whatever form it may take. Ive never liked most of the trashy commerical stuff that fills up the charts.

Finally, someone else who isn't a rent whore. Rent has got to be the worst musical ever.

And I think 70 is a tad early, even if it is by year formed. I'm sure with some research theres bound to be at least one or two good bands who formed in the 70's.

That song is one of the dumbest songs I've ever heard (assuming we're talking about the same song). If cheating bothers her so much, why doesn't she just stop?

my point exactly. I swear i'm going to snap that disc in half one of these days ;].

Jesus christ, testosterone overload! You all listen to metal. I abhor the stuff (I suppose you all wear the band t-shirts aswell?

Actually, Metal is one of the few genres I can't stand. When you can't hear the words of the drums and stuff, then it ain't that good. if I just wanted to hear drums I could smash two steel garbage can-tops togethor ;].

(not effeminate as in pop-y, but just of a softer nature - I hate pop and such with a passion, and feel, that as a society, we have little taste).

For the first time ver (shock of all shocks!) I agree with you ;].

Simon & Garfunkel,

One of the few new (to me ;]) things that I'm actually interested in.

Never heard the stuff? It's only shoved down our throats incessantly- be it in commercials or part of the endless drivel on the radio, or spouting from the idiots at school who carry around boomboxes (or just really loud ipods). I can say with confidence I've heard more than my fair share of modern music, and find it contains very little to no substance or originality.

Lol- who actually carries around a boombox? I would love to see that. If someone is playing the music in school, then its not what I'm talking about.

And don't get me started on how radio is dead and almost entirely useless, I can't even bear to listen to it half the time anymore. Take one more classic rock station and replace it with hip/hop or La Music Caliente! station and I might murder someone.

Egh- I don't listen to the radio anymore. I just prefer badgering my friend and then burn a cd.

But anyways, as a sidenote, can we all agree that rap is the worst thing to happen to music since green day became popular?

Oh god yes. On both points, god yeah. The only rap I can even stand to listen to (if you can even call it rap) would be Everlast.

Rap indeed is a terrible thing. However, it has allowed our generation to dance in ways thought only reserved to the bedroom, if even there, in past times.

Something must be said for that.

Gah- rave is so much better at that than rap. If I wanted to hear about a guy getting down and high, I'd listen to Betty White reading erotic and my friends talking. Much easier than putting up with rap.

Unfortuantley at the same time the vast majority of today's music is overtly commercialised and this ultimatley detracts greatly from the musical quality that it tries to bestow upon the listener.

Incrediably true for some bands these days.

You people are freaks. I can't even stand to listen to game music when I'm playing a game and I have to mute it. Of course, the only music I really hear is Civ and AoE. Also, i've never had the urge to see a musical, less listen to one.

About the modern (speaking post -90s) music: don't take me wrong, much of the stuff out today is crap. However, there are some gems in the rough. Fuel's beocme one of my favorite bands (not sure how well they'll do now), along with Stone Sour, and Seether.

Also about the Coldplay- I appearntly got the band names mixed up and I meant Cross Fade.

for a minute there i thought you were speaking german panda... than i releasized you were just being really homicidal :p

Hmm, my 8 favourite songs (In Alphabetical Order)

Animal (REM)
Crazy Amanda Bunkface (Sum41)
Follow Me (Bob Dylan)
Heart Attack (Sum41)
Is There Something I Should Know? (Duran Duran)
New Moon on Monday (Duran Duran)
The Great Beyond (R.E.M.)
The Reflex (Duran Duran)

I also like several Boston Songs, but I can never remember their names.

You need to branch out Iggy, what a narrow list you have compiled.

Rap is not music. I am a professional musician (:p), so I am qualified to make this statement.

Have you ever heard the Rise of Nations soundtrack?

Some game soundtracks are, indeed, singularly awful, but some are spectacularly good. It really depends on the game.

As to musicals, it's really a matter of taste. And of performers.
