No, I didn't say rap is bad, I said it is not music, and it is not. To be music, something requires pitch... Rythm is reccomended but not necessary. Rap only has the latter, optional characteristic, it lacks pitch, it is not a tune, it is not music. It is organized words.

I disagree. I believe it is music. It may not be what the Eurocentric Western mind thinks when someone says music, but it is most certainly music. Especially when one considers the instrumentals in the background, seeing as many so-called musicians who simply scream to the repulsive cacophony that is death metal get away with classification under the genre. Plus Webster's agrees with me

But we can agree to disagree, I'm not out to change your mind. I just think differently.

Also, U2 is crap. Not because I necessarily think they are crap, but because everyone else thinks they're so much better than they actually are I'm fairly obsessed with the Who (less so with the Beatles, I guess the hype turned me off; still think they're great, its just that everyone seems to love them so its cliche... maybe thats not the best way to pick favourites, but oh well). Generally agree with Joe and j eps, especially about Marley and Matisyahu. Great stuff. But like I said, I like some of everything, so thats not a representative sampling.

I dislike rap, after trying it. Im not saying all rap is crap, I'm saying I dont find it enjoyable to listen to FOR ME!

I also used to like metal, then went through an emo music phase (mainly Nirvana) and wound up here. I agree that hype can ruin a band, but I like their music.
