[BTS] My First Immortal Game with Hannibal

Outside of "changing things up", I agree that intentionally neutering your domination at 4-5% of the threshold just seems....lacking. At that point you may as will finish it off. I only want to launch a SS if I can make an honest run at it. Maybe that's not doable on immortal or Deity, I dont know.

This is gold my man! I don't want to make your play another game through. :)

But I was wondering... how would you reliably win space with under 10 cities on Immortal? Is it even possible on most maps to do that?

It's definitely possible. You just need far better land than you were given on that map. Preferably a gold or gems mine start, and many, many rivers.

In no-conquest space, I think diplo is much more important. If you can join in a 3 or 4 way Buddhist lovefest, then you may be able to trade your way all the way into the modern era without actually teching many things yourself.

I actually played through the Pacal map that @Lain lost and not only won, but obtained a t247 space win. Holkan rush on Genghis was essential, but after that cuirs->cavs wiped the continent without a problem. Then I got like a dozen industrial/modern techs from two friendly AIs on the other continent. If you want, I can dig back and explain in more detail how I did that. Or I can play this recently posted emperor map for a certain space win under 250 turns (just from the start, the map is more than good enough).

@Fish Man

I would love to see an under 10-city Space win on Immortal level if you ever feel in the mood for it. To me that would be most educational but I think any under 250 turn Space Win is terrific even with a lot of land.

I don't feel like sub-t250 with less than 10 cities is possible. By the end of the game, even if every single BFC tile is workshopped or cottaged, you can only get so much raw economic output with 9 cities, definitely not enough to 2/3-turn the endgame techs like you need to win that fast.

I might post the demonstration of a fast space win with the emperor Justinian game, then.

Oh ho. I didn't mean sub-t250 with under 10 cities. Any Space Win with under 10 cities. Maybe before t350...
