N3S II: The Eagle Awakens

OOC: Edited thank you, and I must say I'm proud to have my "simple" career compared to all you nonsensical people with your absurd amounts of B.As, written books, powerful spouses and etc :p I would assume that people with actual brains would know better then to be in COngress ;)

I suppose I'm included here, but in my defense, my character has only 1 BA and an unnamed spouse

although maybe 2 doctorates, a masters, a stint in the marines, and 4 books a little much... some people are just overachievers okay?!

EDIT: And damnit, I already seconded the motion, see my mini-speech! :p

I kinda doubt people are going to put much stock in a book on the Classics written by someone with nothing but a BA in the field, too. :p

OOC: Funny thing is, people, no one has submitted a formal resolution yet ;)

Also, alex, your comment on how "no one makes speeches like that in Congress anymore" - I know. And America is worse off for it.

IC:

TO: The Speaker of the House
FROM: Julien Aristides, Representative for the 9th District of Massachusetts
CC: The House of Representatives

Mr. Speaker, due to the calls for such action, I formally put forward a motion to begin impeachment proceedings, as per Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution. As per house regulations, I shall list the charges to be brought against President Daniels and Vice-President Wilmington under oath:

1.) Bribery
2.) Perjury in the face of investigations into bribery charges.
3.) Obstruction of justice in the face of investigations into bribery charges.

I ask that this motion is recognized, and that the House and Senate immediately begin to move into Impeachment proceedings.

To keep us conservatives from losing to the whiney libs, I'll join up.

Joseph Latsin-JosefStalinator
Representative from Texas
Money: 1 per turn
Voting Record: Along the party platform, essentially conservative.
Approval rating: 50%

Career History:
-
Born into a lower middle class working family, Joseph Latsin labored to graduate high school but could not afford college, and was forced to reenter the work force only as a high school graduate.
- Upon the death of his father, Latsin used his inheritance to go into a joint venture with business partners, eventually founding his own small business, and using the money earned from that to reach local office and begin his rise to riches.
- Eventually made fortune off wise investment and playing the stock market.
- College Graduate, nothing spectacular like all the other rediculously well educated congressmen
- Texas House of Representatives, District, 2015-2020
- U.S House of Reps, 2020-now

American Patriot's Party:

The party was founded by conservative representative Joseph Latsin to stand as a bastion against the newer liberal social reforms and preserve the

Socially more against change than regressive, the party varies along those two groups, but overall opposes the further legalization of abortion in the first trimester and gay marriage.old economic order of capitalism and freedom, as well as preserve and enforce American world dominance.

Economically, the party stands for total economic liberalization, against all forms of nationalization, against most welfare programs including universal healthcare, increasing medicare, is for privitizing social security and keeping taxes low.

Foreign policy wise- America is always first; but in that sense we must always act to preserve order within the world by our terms. Uppity organizations like the United Nations, rogue states, and rising powers like china and their old Russian friends only work to impede our dominance. The European Union and India are potential allies in this new world, and should be catered to in order to preserve economic well-being.

Voting Record:
• Minimum Wage: Supports the working man upon who's back our country runs (and one of the few politicians who have ever HAD a lower wage job), but does not support gross interference by the government- especially when it discourages local industry.
• Gun Control: Strong supporter of the second amendment right, opposes further restrictions.
• Defense Spending: Supports increased defense spending, especially in the area of Research and Development. We must support our boys in uniform and give them the best equipment available, and preserve our position as the technological world leader.
• Foreign Policy: Strongly Opposes Chinese tyranny in all forms, only exemplified by the Taiwanese take over. A long time advocate of US intervention and resurgence- it is the job of the United States to ensure peace and spread freedom and democracy throughout the world.
• Religion: Supports separation of church and state, but opposes gross overstepping of groups such as the ACLU into the area of public display of religious icons.
• Civil Rights: Against any further expansion of abortion rights and gay marriage, but also against any regression. Things are fine as they are.
• Education: Strong supporter of education (duh), with little concern over religious influence in the classroom.
• Statehood: No issues with any territority voting for entrance into the union.
• Environment: Given the recent oil crisis, we have no choice but to seek alternative fuels. If this has the added bonus of helping the environment, all the better. But the economy, and people, come first.
• Space: A very strong advocate of space exploration and expansion, as well as development of future military applications in space.

A Third to the Call to Impeach

A simple look at the world in which we find ourselves in today can bear testament to the incompetence and inadequacy by which our government has been run these past few decades. As Chinese Tyranny spreads to our good friends in Taiwan, and as we sit idly by, allowing our main source of fuel and, essentially, way of life dwindle before us, it is no wonder that our esteemed Representatives, from both the right and the left, would be calling for impeachment.

It is with great hope that I further second the call for impeachment- a hope for the future, in which the United States can once again reclaim its position as sole superpower within this world, and in which democracy and freedom will span sea to shining sea, without the destructive forces of corruption and amorality.

May God have mercy upon all those responsible for these henious acts against the American people, and may impeachment proceedings proceed posthaste in an orderly manner.

I am defintley registering intrest, unsure if I will have time, will let you know in the next day or two.

I kinda doubt people are going to put much stock in a book on the Classics written by someone with nothing but a BA in the field, too. :p

That is certainly true, especially given that its not actually a BA in Classics, but a larger degree that includes Classics... I might go ahead and take it out. My character doesn't have to be superman, afterall ;)

Actions:

Make appearances as a guest preacher at various churches in Minnesota, trying to win the religious vote over from Phillip Crispin.
Support the Second Amendment in speeches, trying to win the conservative vote over from Phillip Crispin.
As was said by Founding Father James Madison: "Americans have the right and advantage of being armed - unlike the citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms."

General Witticism: "Do you know why there's a Second Amendment? In case the government forgets the First Amendment."

Even Mohandas "Mr Nice Guy" Gandhi agrees: "Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest."

Joseph Story, Supreme Court Justice: "One of the ordinary modes, by which tyrants accomplish their purposes without resistance, is, by disarming the people, and making it an offense to keep arms."

Votes:
Fourth the call to impeach.
Bill to come later.

More general stuff to come later once I see j_eps' response and/or comments from North King.

Rebuttal to be posted shortly. Do not have time to finish a half completed response at the moment.

Phillip Crispin completely supports the impeachment of the President.

EDIT: Speech will be posted soon.

Also, I am running for a senate seat for this election.

It is early December, and the calls for President Daniels to be impeached are getting louder every day. Harried by the media and political opponents, the President calls a press conference.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the press, the President of the United States of America."

President Daniels steps up to the podium, looking definitely worse for wear after his recent troubles. He clears his throat, and begins with very little preamble.

"My fellow Americans. For the past two years, I have had the honor and privelidge to serve this great nation. I have achieved what I could, and done my best to preserve the morals and integrity of our people. There is very little I could regret that I can name from my term so far--I have done what I could to boost the economy of the United States; I have tried to reinstate our position abroad; I have given every fiber of my being to rebuilding this nation of ours.

"When I came into the Presidency I--I will not mince words--I inherited a disaster. American standing abroad had not been lower since the Iraq War in 2003. We were viewed as a paper tiger, unable to do what we wanted in the least. When Keyes was president, and Taiwan was invaded, I felt for certain that the world had changed.

"No, America is not the world's police force. But to so utterly withdraw from the world, to give over everything in order to make certain that we suffered no risks... That is not what we should do. To stand by, unmoved, when the strong prey on the weak, when the brutal destroy the meek, this, too, is sheer insanity. It is for that reason, I believe, that the American people elected me over the incumbent. They wanted a stronger America.

"I did my best to make that stronger America. I did what I could to reinstate our position in the world. There may have been some stupid mistakes made. I admit that.

"However, whatever the venerable delegates in the United States Congress may assume, I am not guilty of bribery. There was some money that changed hands. I may have shaded the truth somewhat: that, too, I will admit to. But these charges of bribery are complete nonsense and, frankly, immensely insulting.

"Unfortunately, it would seem that even members of Congress whose ideals are close to mine are pushing for my impeachment. It would seem that no matter what happened, I am doomed to fail as a President. They have condemned me even before hearing the evidence. There is no argument that can sway prejudice, that can win over hearts that are already determined to vote against me.

"As I am facing charges which I cannot argue against, I have no option but to put myself in the hands of an altogether fairer body--the court system.

"In order to achieve this, I am hereby resigning from the office of the Presidency of the United States of America."

The next hour or two is a brutal grilling by the press, in which Daniels reveals that he intends to return to his native Wyoming, and face any court cases as they come. He is leaving all options for the future open, and has full confidence in his successor, Vice President, now President, Harry Wilmington.

OOC: The nature of this NES is probably going to be more in these mini-updates, if no one objects; big updates will basically be summaries of the year.

EDIT: And damnit, I already seconded the motion, see my mini-speech! :p

OOC: Oh please, that speech was all about the "dark forces of corruption" and etc :p Hardly anything concrete or so to speak

IC:

The Representative from the Californian 42nd would like to inquire upon whether the former VIce-President now President plans to change any policies.

Speech by Allen Cohen to the “New Yorkers for Progress” Annual Assembly in Albany, NY.

Attending are numerous State Congressmen, delegates from New York City, Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany, and various small cities. Also attending is the junior U.S. Senator from the state of New York.

After a brief introduction by the Chairman of the organization, and light opening comments from Rep. Cohen, he begins the bulk of his speech:

“Well, this meeting couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time. Just two days ago, Michael Daniels resigned his post as President of the United States. As I’m sure we’ll all agree, this is a great step for this nation. However, it has not changed the power structure in Washington. We still have plenty to achieve.

I’ve come here today to address the New Yorkers for Progress. But I have also come to address all New Yorkers, all congresspersons in the United States congress, and each and every American who believes in the progressive movement.

Today, I am announcing my attentions to all of my colleagues: to propose an alliance of all policymakers of any party throughout the country to band together in the name of social progress in the United States and across the planet.

I’m talking about the Center-Left caucus. This caucus has existed in congress for a number of years, but never has it been more important to our goals. Mind you, I do not intend to form a new political party. Rather, I intend to invite those in the left aisle of this country to band together and vote to bring about change.

I invite Democrats, New World party members, and independents of all stripes to join this caucus. We believe in a few basic principles:

First, all humans have certain inalienable rights. These include the right to free speech, free assembly, free religion, and a free press.

Second, every man, woman, and child deserves a decent standard of living. We believe in expanded healthcare services, we proposed and passed the Universal Childcare proposal, we believe in a living wage, and we believes that no one should have to live paycheck to paycheck. We believe in social progress.

Third, we believe in a sane foreign policy. War is an utmost last resort. We do not need more weapons that are meant to obliterate human life. We should treat our allies and friends with respect, and should give even our enemies the chance to become viable and free nations. We do not believe in nation building.

Fourth and finally, we believe in a fair tax structure. A tax structure that not only promotes business, but also promotes the growth of the middle class. It is not right that the rich and powerful get tax breaks and tax cuts while the middle and lower classes go on paying a portion of their paycheck that affects them much more. Ten-thousand dollars to an average American is much more of a struggle than a million dollar tax on the rich that leaves them with millions more to spend. We therefore support a progressive tax structure.

That’s all there is to it. Our coalition is open to any and all. With it, we can coordinate our voting efforts in this increasingly volatile political climate.

Thank you, and keep up the good fight.”

National Progressive Party
American_reform_party_logo.png

We, the People of the National Progressive Party, beleive in the idea of America, the Nation of America, and above all, the People of America. We Beleive in Progress and Freedom, in Liberty and Security for all American Citiziens. Now, America has, from its dawn to the modern day, prided itself on its freedom and on its progress towards a pinnacle of perfection never attained by mankind, but oft dreamed about. To ensure this progress, to insure this freedom, we must expand upon what we already have and use the foundations laid by our constitution to launch ourselves towards a better tommorow, and a better America. Thusly, We the People of the United States National Progressive Party, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty, to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Political Party and swear to uphold its beliefs and convictions.

Economic Policy: We believe that like the Government, the Economy serves the people. We believe in a Free Market Economy, but that the Government must both give every advantage to the Economy to prosper, and also that the Economy must be utilized to help the People and the Nation. Thusly, we advocate a Free, Balanced Trade system that helps America prosper, but does not allow Her to become too much in debt nor to be threatened by horrible Recessions and Depressions. In short, Economic Liberty and Responsibility and Prosperity

Social Welfare: We believe in a system of Limited National Healthcare, which follows the precedent set by Medicare and Medicaid before they were corrupted by the corrupt politicians of the past. It is as travesty that citizens DIE everyday because we cannot provide for their basic needs. We propose a decentralized system that works as an umbrella of safety for our constituents. We also believe in the Inalienable Right to Life that every American Citizen is granted, and thusly we support a Livable Wage be implemented as our Wage Floor. This would strike a killing blow on Poverty and would help invigorate our economy. We believe Social Security needs to be reformed for the future of our national security.

Energy and the Environment: A solution to the energy crisis is necessary, so the National Progressive Party believes in the short run; We feel that America must cast its gaze to Ethanol for our transportation and for our power needs, Nuclear and especially Wind Energy. In the long run, we must cast our gaze upward to space as a source of Hydrogen and immense Solar Power. We feel the environment is important to the continuation of America, and will work to preserve it as much as possible

Civil Liberties: We believe that America was built on Freedom and Liberty, and the only way to sustain its growth is to expand that Liberty. We support an end to homosexual segregation and thusly the legalization of Homosexual Marriage. We support a Merit based society and thusly we push to phase out age-discrimination. We believe that America should achieve near-Universal Suffrage, and that inroads to lowering the voting age should be made. The Internet should be a completely free place for all; and we deem any unnecessary restrictions on it to be un-American. In our Cyber-World all should be free in Cyber-Space.

Education: The Progressives see a complete failure of the Outcomes Based Education system in place and push for a Decentralization and Destandardization of Education. We wish for improved Teacher Salaries and especially Teacher Quality, and believe that a move towards Critical Pedagogy in the Classroom must be made. We believe in Free America, our Public Schools must also employ Popular Educational methods.

Statehood: America is a shining beacon of Liberty for the world, and We believe any territory of America that votes in a plebiscite for Statehood should receive it. Puerto Rico has successfully been integrated, why can other not be? We also believe that if countries should want to enter the union, they must first become a territory of America for a period of at least 10 years.

Morality: We believe that people should be free to enjoy their own morals, and that the State must balance Morality and Ultimate Liberty. We believe that the States should decide the issues of Morality in schools, but that all Schoolchildren must be taught balancedly and in accordance with proven sciences. We believe the Government shouldn’t over step its bounds in its regulatory moves and that the regulation and age-based censorship of Media or Literature is wrong and are a violation of Parental Rights and Local Jurisdiction. We believe that the Separation of Church and State is a fine line that should be dealt with in individual cases.

Foreign Policy: We believe we must build our alliances with the European Union and with India. We must spread Freedom and Democracy to Africa and build alliances there as well. We believe above all that American is the Bastion of Freedom in a dark world, and we should work to spread our Light to all corners of the Globe. We believe we must build up international strength to stop another Taiwan Incident from ever happening. We must also have the capability at any time to do what we must to Protect our Nation

Scientific Policy: The Government must at all time support and fund American Innovation, and must pursue the gaining of the Greatest Minds in the world for America. We believe that The Government should guide ethical concerns, but should not interfere with development of life-saving sciences. We must look into Stem-Cell and Genetic Research and also much into Alternative Energy Sources. We must also lead the world in the field of Quantum Research.

Space: We believe that it is America’s destiny to utilize the Final Frontier for our benefit, and so the Progressive believe would should begin research into methods of space resource gathering, and We suggest we begin research into Space Colonization. We also believe we should revamp NASA to be more efficient, and we see allowing the Private Sector to commercialize Space as a good step forward.

There are SEVERAL key differences in our policies Panda, I should know because i based my format off of yours so i had to read yours like 4 times.

That said, we can still work together on many issues. Bipartisanship, ya gotta love it.

Since I said this to Swiss, I'll say it out loud, if you want to make up NPC names as long as they aren't stupid, then I'll be happy to; I hardly want to make up 104 Senators and so on. Though I don't actually keep track of individual NPC Representatives, just the numbers.

OOC: *sigh* I don't want to make my own party yet I don't want to submit to Panda... tsk tsk tsk :(
