Need some tips to improve my gameplay

Spoiler :

Capped Egypt with an army of 10 HA and 10 chariots, took 50% casualties in taking the 3 Egyptian cities.

Now economy in the doldrums and have to rebuild a bit, though i'm in better shape than in previous games where I did an early rush.

Would you advise?
--Take remainder of army and try to take a city or two from Gilg (he has vultures, so won't get very far). Then regroup and try to finish him off...I'm assuming I'm alone with him on the island...
--Or make peace, open boarders, and trade with him for a while...then see if better to absorb him or stay friendly.

Can you post a pic of the tech screen?

Not having writing in 175 AD isn't a good thing, especially with a Philo leader. You want Writing early so that you can get a library built and start running a couple of scientists. It also allows you to sign open borders so that you can get trade routes (though this is still possible if the AI has Writing).

Traveling so don't have my game...
No doubt would like to have had writing by now, but took nearly 100 turns to get HBR - which I felt was an absolute necessity to take on Ramesses.

You are right though: at turn 98 I should have prioritized writing. It looks like I went for IW, which I presume I did to look for resource/city locations. I'm not sure what I took after writing, but will review the saves. Thanks for the feedback.

As far as going on from here, better to play nice with Gilg or take a city or two from him?

I would avoid further war right now and focus on the economy and settling out the land that you just won. Gilgamesh appears to be your only potential trading partner here. The map is Fractal w/ medium sea level, and that often produces a continents-type map. You may not meet anyone else for awhile, in which case I think it's a good idea to just settle out the land peacefully and try to build relations with Gilgamesh for awhile.

ok I see it as of now... but... did you read Vicawoo's strategy article called "Horse archer rush guide"?

you obviously should have go with AH->writing, build library, employ 2 scientists, tech HBR route with this start.

So I start this very puzzling how come you don't have writing/library in cap before HBR.
