"LORD! People have rebelled in New York! Luckily our army were only a mile away, and rebuffed them. We need a police in our cities! "
"What were they rebelling about?" Washington asked
"Oh it's now important, my lord."
"Tell me."
"Yes, king. They were rebelling because of there jealusy of the Republic of Iroquios. They want the Republic, and for you to be the Chairman. Sir?"
"Begin assembling the government. We shall 'vote' on the rulers. For this, I give to my people."
"yes sir!" The military and cultural advisor left the room.
"What of my colonies?" Washington asked his d.a.
"Sir, our first ship has returned with a report. It reads:
My lord, We have set up numerous cities in our land. One, which is the only coastal city, is named Rio de Janeiro after the natives, but our people call it San Francisco. Also, the largest citie, is named Brasillia, along with the two other cities of New Chicago and New Concord located on the road to the most inland city of Brasillia. "
"Great, as soon as you can, please establish a govenor for each city. Divide my forces in fifths, 20 in each city with the exception of Rio de Janero whci should have 40 men. You may go tell my military advisor of this."
"ahh, my technology advisor, what have you for me today?" Washington looked straight at is T.a.
"Well, my lord, we have made several breakthroughs in the field of military warfar. We have discovered the use of rifles instead of muskets, and with your consent, would like to upgrade all of our military."
"Granted."
"Oh, and William (the name of Washingtons Domestic Advisor), please install a factory in each of my cities that are able to hold one. This should stimulate my economy. Also, tell Lincoln (his military advisor) to arrange an escort for me to Europe. I wonder if Sanford would allow me to study some of his Republican way.

"So, you're saying the Persians are looking for a piece of China, are you? They want friends, huh?"
"That's about the size of it, sir, according to our contacts. Also, they say that Daedlus has no navy, at least none worth mentioning."
"Are they rich?"
"The Persians, sir? We're not quite sure how rich, but they look to be pretty wealthy, all right. In addition, they're trying to create more jobs, and update their old technology..."
"Tell their ruler this: We are prepared to offer them transport on our fleet, and Japanese naval protection in any campaign against China. For a reasonable sum, of course. We may also be willing to trade them technologies and offer them naval materiel, ships and expertise. Once again, for a price." Nintendo could be accused of a lot of things, but he was always open to an opportunity to increase his wealth and influence through peaceful means.

He then turned his attention back to his various projects around the world. Most important, the Trans-Japanese railroad project, which was coming along very well. Several miles of new track were being laid every day.
Next up, the underseas telegraph to Korea, which, although it was encountering some technical hiccups, seemed to be in order. He saw that, and new that it was good. A response line that would take less than a day would allow for far more direct control of the Manchurian expansion.

In the Pacific, his Navy, together with the new island colonies, were hard at work securing safe trade routes where peaceful traders from all nations could feel relatively secure from pirates, brigands and corsairs, people that were becoming an increasing problem in the great ocean. This safety did not come for free, of course, but the Shogun's economists and analysts were already hard at work figuring out an acceptable percentage that could be taken as a protection fee.

Finally, Yunnan. Nintendo's SecFor was very optimistic. Already there were Japanese officials in every level of the Warlord's military democracy. If not yet a puppet state, they were at least by now a dependancy, and, it seemed, a very happy one too.

General Kornerko reads the dispatches relating to the Japanese and Indian offensives. "Well, it looks like some Chinese troops will be redeplyed."
"Sir, General Zietsev says that he is holding in the Mongolian Mountains and is prepared for any serious counterattack by the Chinese. He is also available to begin another offensive as soon as you give the word."
"Keep him there, Colonel. He poses a nice risk to Beijing which the Chinese can not ignore. Step up our offensive along the coast. We must get as far south as possible taking as many warm water ports as possible, before our Japanese friends take them all. While you are at it, don't forget to send some nice Potato Vodka to Osaka and Delhi."

In the Winter Palace at St. Petersburg:

Minister of the Army: "You Majesty, our Manchurian adventure is regaining momentum due to the recent advances by Japan and India."

Romanov: "Good, send praises to the men in the next dispatch east. What of Alaska?"

Minister of Colonial Holdings: "Tadonia is prospering much more than expected, a strong civil defense force is developing so sould the colonies be threatened, they can defend themselve for a time while the army comes across the straights."

Romanv: "Good. See to it that the navy expands its presence in the North Pacific. And establish a base in Alaska."

Minster of the Navy: "That is well underway, sir. We have already established a navy base, we call Anchorage, in Alaska. We have also establish outposts on many of the small islands that jut out in to the Pacific. From these posts, we control the Bering Sea and the whales."

Minister of the Interior: "Our trans-railway system is nearing completion. The vast Siberian wilderness has slowed down our progress, but we should have a complete connection between Moscow and the Pacific rim in short order."

Minister of Foreign Affairs: "Sir, do you still want that dispatch sent to Persia?"

Romanov: "Yes. Tell them that if they wish, any portion of Eastern China, with the exception of Mongolia, is theirs for the taking. Inform them that India might grab the good land first."

"Well, Mr. Washington, I have a strong belief in Queen and Country, and am not, as you say, 'Republican'. However, I am glad you see the benefits of a Free and Democratic Society in America." Sanford and Washington walked down the corridors of the Houses of Parliament quite slowly, discussing America's future Republic. "I would be gald to help you on any matter you may have in the structure. All things come at a price, however, and there is a small favour I would ask of you, if you would be so kind."

Wasington looked at him uneasily.

"Do not worry. I assure you it is nothing difficult." Sanford allayed Washington's worries. "I have been looking at resource maps and have seen that the Egyptians, Babylonians and Aztecs have no source of Coal, and the Aztecs no Tin. These are products Great Britain has in surplus and is looking for a buyer. All I ask is that you put in a good word to the Aztecs about us."

Washinton brightened up. "Agreed. I'm gald we could work this out, Prime Minister."

They shook hands.

"Always a pleasure, Mr. President."

In case you missed it, I'm looking for buyers of Tin and Coal! Only while stocks last!

To Russia: We happily ecxept your call to arms, and we welcome your new victories in Manchuria. I think that we all can unite against tyranny in Peking. I propose that our two great countries shall establish a trade agreement. Best Regards, Gajarupta.

To Persia: I propose a mutual protection pact, if you decare war on China. You will also get strategically important Brahma Pass, whih is the key to your border with China, so you could send full-sized force. Note, that we shall not grab any of the muslim lands in Western China. Best Regards, Gajarupta.

To Japan: We are enraged about your claism on Yunnan. It, as well as every Chinese territory south of SHnghai Line is actually South China, a totally independent country, and Yunnan is south from Shanghai Line. On other matters, I hope for our farther cooperation. Best Regards, Gajarupta.

Persia Accepts Japans offer for naval assistance although we do not wish for help transporting our troops. We also are willing to expend a bit of the vast and ancient persian treasury to update our technologies.

To India: Such a Mutual Protection Pact would benifit us both. i would be glad to sign it.

---------------------------------------

"Persian troops began moving, officially through China today" The reporter said. "his Higness, the holy Daedlus issued a demand to the chinese calling for the immediate surrender Muslim China and the of Brahma pass. The Chinese ambassador seemed unable to respond so the great king began taking the pass, finding no chinese troops there at all as they were distracted on other fronts, the millitary is now size medium analysts say, while the fleet is still a work in progress, which is to say non-existant.
"In other news Daedlus issued a statement saying that he accepts japanese help, although their empire building is not entirely approved by him he will not meddle in their affairs.
"In Conclusion our sources show that the Indian ambassador signed with our country a MPP today, to help both nations."

Daedlus laughed.... soon he too would be leading a world power.

It was teh middle of the night. Everyone in the Indian camp was still asleep. But then, General Zhu Go Hung and his Imperial Guard have attacked before anyone was ready. Durign the first two hours of attack, thousands of men from both sides were dying in that Battle at Xiamen. Panic has spread among the Indian Camp, but then, on his white horse, General Muhabajra, ahs marched forward, with twelve men, uniformed in golden uniforms. Usually, those uniforms were of the forward officers for the divisions. Thus, Chinese have thought that 10 divisions were approaching. So until three more hours, Chinese were preparign the line of defense against those divisions, and then, whe n they didn't arrived, by that time, Chinese have lost too much men to start another offensive. Then, 3rd Cavalry DIvison has moved out to surroudn Chinese, and finally after 29 hours of bloodshed, demoralized remainders fo Imperial Guard (7/10 of the original army).

-------------

In a month-long skirmish, Shanghai fell to Indians, mainly thanks to the people's uprisings in South China for the creation of democracy there. First Meeting of National Congress of Chinese Republic has begun on August 22nd 1850. New government has established it's national army out of South Chinese and Yunnanese rebels, and established a mutual protection pact with India.

Note: we now need a player for South China.

Brahma Pass was an Indian territory, seceded by our country to you as part of the agreement.

Dispatch to Gajarupta, India

Russia is pleased to enter into trade talks with the people of India. We agree to part with some of the iron/coal from the rich Ural Mountains as well as some fine Russian Furs. What is it that the Indian People can provide to us?

Russian forces will continue to solidify our new holdings in Mongolia and Manchuria. We will make no incursions into South China and request for you to set up a meeting with the South Chinese Government where we can come to terms for formal recognition of their government.

... so Hong Kong soon fell, while Yunnan, populated mainly by mountain warlords in military democracy has rebelled and joined Japanese...

Shogun Nintendo was a little confused as the Indian ambassador stood there fuming, an extremely sour look on his face.
"But of course Yunnan shall be a free state. All we ask is our fair share in the running of things. After all, Yunnan did seek our protection, and that is something we intend to give. So, my friend, athough Yunnan is south of the Shanghai line, I feel this is a decision we must leave up to Yunnan's inhabitants. The moment there is a ruler ready to take up the leadership of the Southern Chinese democracy, we'll relinquish any control of the area, provided the people wish it."
The Indian ambassador looked mildly assuaged, but still skeptical.
"I'll have to send dispatches to my leader. I'm not permitted to speak to for him in this matter."
"Good, you do that. Now, unless there is something else on your mind..."

In short, Japan will high-tail out of Yunnan the minute someone says: I will lead South China. I'd rather not see any attempts to usurp power before then.

Dispatch to Russia:

I wish to make it perfectly clear that the only reason we're expanding along the coast is because it's easiest for us. When the war has ended, we wish very deeply to discuss an amicable split of Manchuria. As you probably know, we have enough warm-water ports already. Name your tems, and we will see...

doh! sorry i just didn't understand i thought that was the strip of china the bordered me. got it now though.

are you gonna update the map periodically? if so can you do it now?
now some more about me ;)

Britain: now that i assume i have steam power (having dealt with the Japanese) i'm more than happy to purchase British Coal, in exchange i offer a large sum of Gold and fine Persian Dyes. (If My economy wer'nt so good i'd be bankrupt, i'm laying off spending now)

Things were going quite well against the Chinese, Darius thought. Cinese lands were traveling quickly beneeth his holy warriors unapposed feet, although scouts said that The Chinese army was on it's way to deal with them and he was positioning his forces to allow them to sandwich the Imperial gaurd between them and the combined forces of India and Shanghi. thanks to technological contributions made by Japan his troops now carried Jihad Rifles, The Persian take on the japanese rifle, instead of Muskets and his small inexperienced navy was learning the art from masterful Japanese sailors. Darius was sure that all of this would help his nation grow in power, it was costing an arm and a leg though, although his economy was quicly throwing off it's ancient cobwebs as new Factories opened up throughout his nation. He hadn't gotten that technology from Japan but had rather..... borrowed it..... from Egypt.
he walked through the halls of his palace gazing out the windows as this ancient pheonix prepared once more to rise from the ashes and take flight. These were very exciting times in Persia.

The Settler Stepped off the boat. this had been a rough journey, the first that Persian sailors had made alone, men with rifles, sent by the government stepped off as well, hoping to protect the colonists.
"What will the new colony be called," he asked the leader of the settlers.
"Persian New Guinea," he replied.

----------------------------------------------
Afterwards: New Guinea is partly mine now. I offer it as a refuling site for those i consider allies, right now: India, Japan(they own the rest so i doubt they'll need it), Great Britain and Russia. I refuse Coal to no-one but those nations get reduced cost on it should they need it.

is it 1851, now?

Prime Minister Sanford stood in a full house giving his speech before the dissolving of Parliament.

"We have had a great five Years in Government. We have new allies in the form of Persia and Russia, and our relationsip with Germany goes from strength to strength. We assisted in the setting up of a Democratic Government in America, and increased our international trade with our exports of coal to Persia. The British Empire is the strongest Naval force in the world, and now there are colonies round the coasts of Australia. Technological Advancement progresses in leaps and bounds, and Great Britain is one of the forerunners in this. And on this jubilant note, I dissolve parliament pending people's elections!"

it's 5 years since Tony Blair came to power here, so I thought it was fitting to hold elections. Don't forget all you other elected leaders, that you have to hold elections

By May 1851, British Colonies in Austalia looked like this:

The Kaiser Learns...

Kaiser Wilhelm received the weekly briefing from his cabinet in Portlandia Palace, and he was finding it hard to concentrate...

Things had gone exceedingly well during the recent summit. PM Sanford and he had always been friendly in demeanor with each other, and Sanford certainly could put away the wine with ease. What was refreshing was how impressive Tsar Romanov had been. Wilhelm was looking forward to seeing just how well these two partners and he could work toward security and profit.

His wandering thoughts were snapped back to attention by Admiral Donitz who was speaking to recent operations...

"Sir, the colonization project in Agentina has been partly successful".

Wilhelm smiled at the obvious political double speak..."Partly? How is a colonization partly successful? Did they make it?"

"Yes sir" replied the admiral, clearly nervous, "they have established a city called New Berlin near the mouth of the Parana river and the village you suggested, however the expansion into two other territories was halted when they encountered the American's to their north".

"Ah, so Washington saw the same opportnity. That would be just like him eh?" Replied Wilhelm. "Any hostile intent?"

"None so far" stepped in General Bismark, the most respected man, outside of Wilhelm himself, in all of Germania, and much of Europe.

"Very well, I will cable Washington personally, and emphasize that we too are there in peace...anything else gentlemen?"

Minster Kiel stepped forward and cleared his throat. "Yes sir, I have some potentially troubling news..."

Bismark looked directly at Kiel, the diminutive man in spectacles was head of German Intelligence, he was hardly the sterotypical spy type, but he was very dangerous in his own right, and rarely one to sound a false alarm. Bismark knew this information would not be making his day...

"Sir," Kiel continued, "I have received credible information that Prince Alexander has been funding resistance movements in Russian and other parts of Europe. Recently that funding has increased significantly, potentially indicating that an operation of some sort has gotten under way. I am working to find out more, but we have few assets in Greece, and we may have better luck working backwards through the groups in Russia. Given our new friendship with Tsar Romanov, perhaps we could work together on this one."

"I agree, I will cable Romanov today, and ask him to work together on this one."

Prince Alexander eh? Wilhelm's thoughts took over again. Now there is a man with potential to be a great leader. But he is young and foolish. I cannot believe he would be behind the violent Russian resistance movement....but then again, it would start to make sense out of a lot of partisan activity in Europe in the past few years...and Kiel is rarely wrong.

With that news, the meeting ended and Wilhelm sat down to draft notes:

Hail friend!

I have been recently informed the rebels causing you inconveinence in southern Russia may well be funded by none other than Prince Alexander. Perhaps our two intelligence agencies can combine resources to investigate?

Subj: South America Colonization

Hail old friend!

I have established my first colony in Agentina, and will continue building to the south. The American's have also began expansion there, and I am transferring defensive troops to the area.

I ask for escort of these troops from your mighty navy. We expect no interference, but as always, we appeciate the Royal Navy keeping such issues from happening.

In return, we invite you to partake of land in the area as well, and pledge ground support and protection were you to do so.

President Washington
Subj: South American Spheres of Influence

Mr. Washington,

It has been far too long since we have talked.

I see that we have encountered each other in Agentina. As two reasonable leaders I know that we have, and will, avoid any undue confrontation.

Perhaps we could agree to partition the areas we have colonized. I merely could look for more coastal areas to the south, while I would support your expansion inland to the western seas.

Were we to agree to this division, you could rest assured that your southern flank would be peaceful and secure. Something you might find value in given the recent discussions between the Iroquis and Aztec.

Regards

Intelligence Gathering

Thank you for the information on the Crimean Rebels. Those leaders that we have thus ccaptured have been unable to tell us much about their funding. If what you say is true, than Alexander is a much more dangerous foe than our own Section 18 originally thought.

We will increase our naval activity in the Black Sea to interdict any possible comunique between Crimea and Persia.

To: Kaiser Wilhelm
Subj: Escort Ships

Good to talk to you again, Wilhelm.

Due to elections, I should not commit the Royal Navy at this period in time, however, as you are a trusted ally and Britain's good friend, I believe there won't be much discomfort from the people at this. I have 15 fast and well armed ships ready for sailing, and if you send your ships to Plymouth, they will escort you across the Atlantic from there.

You will be free to expand southward, as we do not wish colonies there, but I ask that you do not colonise over the western mountain ranges, as that will be a colonisation target after Australia, due to it being easily accessable from there.

Your good friend, Electoral Candidate Johnathan Sanford.

Re: Persian Influence in Asia Minor

Classified - Top Secret

Sir. It has come to our attention that Alexander and the Persian have designs on all the lands surrounding the Black Sea. Should Babylon have any desire to halt such Perisan dreams, Russia may be willing to assist.

Perisa is also believed to be behind the revelutionary groups formally opperating in the Crimea, we have some belief that similar groups may also be operating in Asia Minor. Rest assured, if we find proof that Persia is behind those movements, you will be informed.

Subj: Fleet Escort

Hail old friend,

I trust the election is going well, as I would hate to find you out of power after such a fruitful friendship all of these years.

Fear not though, you can always retire to Bavaria where we have many beer gardens and frau's to indulge in.

Regarding your fleet, I thank you for the support. My three rifle divisions will sail this morning in transport to Plymouth to meet you.

We will of course honor your request regarding the Chilean coast, and support you defensively when you arrive. Be advised that I cannot guarentee that the American's will not head straight there from their current base in Sao Paulo. Further, I would expect to see the Iroqouis and Aztecs get involved before we are done. So my advice is to move quickly.

I'll grab the reigns of Rome, thankee :D. Ah, I do love playing the underdog...

Rome:
Government: Monarchy
Ruler: King Righello Benevolenza X
Military Strenght: Small land army, small navy
Tech. Level: Medium Industrial Age.
In War With:
Alliances:
Mutual Protection Pact: With France and Greece (Toulon Pact)

King Righello had a bad habit of pacing around in his office, and today was no exception. He did it for thinking. As he walked he slowly puffed his heavy cigar. What to do, what to do.

Righello had recieved Alexander's message about being 'bored'. Rome was in no situation for a war. The Germans were situated right in the Adriatic, and the English were on Malta. The Roman army and navy could not handle one of them on it's own, and there was no way Righello would share a common border with that madman expansionist Alexander, unless he were moving up to it.

What really stung was that Alexander knew this all too well. The Toulon pact was the only thing that could oppose the newly founded Trinity alliance but Rome had no place in alliances.

Greece should have been Rome's enemy but the miserable acts of Righello IX set them back quite a bit.

Righello sat down at his desk and began writing a telegram to the Kaiser.

It would seem that the Persians are kicking up speed in your region. You might not have to look to Germany for your desired gains, and cooperation would be most beneificial to both our nations.
Would you like to make some cooperation in the Middle East, mono e mono?
