The Old and the New
The bones in Osmans knees popped as he knelt towards Mecca. The city he had not seen in years. A sigh escaped his lips as he bowed. Allah guide me. He winced as a bolt of pain shot down his back, it was acting up again. Ah my dear Allah, when shall I join thy. His eyes rose to the window, into the clear blue sky. The curtains billowed in the breeze, rather lovely curtains infact. Who could have picked such lovely curtains, I wonder. This was his favorite spot to pray, the gentle breeze always reminded him of his home city, Mecca. He never knew why it did, but it did. Wasnt someone coming to see me today? I think it was someone important, but Im not sure now. he stood still as a stature, back straight, straining his mind to try and remember who it was. A hand suddenly touched his shoulder lightly, waking him from his thoughts with a start.
Excuse me master Hassan, but Sultan Osman IV is here to see you a voice whispered in his ear, which made it even harder to hear.
Ah yes, the Sultan, thats who it was Hassan muttered as he struggled to get to his feet, grunting with the effort. The hand on his shoulder immediately grabbed him under his arms and helped him up, although the hand was rather rough in doing so. Finally he was seated and he squinted at the tall figure. Hassan grouped around for his spectacles on the table stand next to his chair, putting them on slowly and adjusting them so they were straight. The blurry figure slowly began to focus itself into a more solid shape of the Sultan. After a few moments the Sultain knelted before Hassan and bowed, touching his feet in respect.
No need for that Osman, you are a Sultan now, you should act more like one Hassan said quietly, lightly touching Osmans shoulder. Well, youve grown a bit havent you Hassan smiled and squinted at the Sultan
Yes, its been a long time since we last met Osman smiled and rose to his feet, the servant who had helped Hassan up quickly getting a chair for him Ive come to talk to you about my reforms, I need your advice and your support.
Ah yes, those, Ive heard a lot about your reforms from the other clerics, they are ambitious to say the least, but I see why you would do such a thing
Yes, in order to keep the great religion of Islam in power we must do this, the old ways may be kept but first we must show the Europeans that Islam is not a religion to be threatened.

The day after that Hassan boarded the train and rode to Mecca. When he arrived in Mecca he received a warm welcome, many had come to see the great cleric. He gave his speech soon after, one of his best ever. The people assembled cheered and hooted. All the things that would make a good speech, a good speech. But only time will tell.

To make this not spam @IceEye, Greece is taken by Dachspmg, and I think at least 2 other players have declared a nation in the balkans (I forget what they wanted though). This is going to be a fun update!
