Bernadotte spoke quietly with
Shoushou Tendo and Saotome as
Isshou Ikari swept his hands across the map around which the
Ippanbakuryou was clustered, tracing the intended paths of their forces and narrating their manuevers. "The final blow will come
here," said Ikari with finality, leaving a finger at the final destination of the various movements. He glanced up across the table toward
Shōgun Tokugawa before bowing deeply and taking his seat. The trio of Bernadotte and the
Shoushou fell silent as all eyes in the room turned upon Tokugawa Nobunaga. The
Shōgun stroked the fingers of one hand across his chin and moustache in consideration of the plan as it had been presented. The room remained as silent as a tomb for some moments before at last he simply said "It is quite complex."
He looked down at the map in contemplation before surveying the officers gathered around the table "The redeployments are rather complicated; can this plan truly be executed as planned?"
The members of the
Ippanbakuryou looked to one another before all eyes were again upon the
Shōgun. In unison the group gave a collective nod and a single reply of "
Hai," with absolute conviction. Only Bernadotte was silent - even for his unique position he was still a
gaijin and had little place offering his opinion in such a matter, especially with the
Shōgun present. It was only at Kurosaki's insistance that he had been allowed to attend the meeting in the first place, and in any case it hardly mattered since he had contributed in small ways to the plan and generally agreed with it. The
Shōgun swept his gaze across the officers again before placing his hands flat upon the table and pushing himself up to his feet. He reached to his left and took up a wooden block from the hands of an attendant, before holding his other hand out to his right. With but a moment's hesitation, one
Taii Masaki approached and handed him the official documentation of the plan before bowing deeply and stepping back. Tokugawa set the papers upon the table and pressed the seal stamp upon the front page, before placing it back in the attendant's hands and holding out the papers for the
Taii. Masaki promptly took them, bowed deeply once more, and made his way out of the room via a side door and into the depths of the
Ippanbakuryou offices. The gears were already turning. Tokugawa looked over the assembly once more before letting just the smallest of smiles cross his face. "Gentlemen," he began, "Operation Taifuu is approved; good day."
And with that he turned and strode to the main doors, the guards on either side opening them as he approached. As soon as he had passed through they were quickly shut behind him, and the ensuing silence rapidly dissolved into dozens of individual discussion. Bernadotte soon found himself drawn back into discussion with Tendo, Saotome, and eventually Ikari, Iwakura, Kuonji, Kaneda, and many of the others over what was to come. One thing, however, was certain: there was no stopping it now.
