I never really trusted him, but I had to lower my guard in some places to campaign against the Portugese and Russians.

It is obvious we must stand together now, it appears this Russian-German juggernaught has long been in the making. With enough pressure applied it will surely break however. Do not let the early minor defeats curb your will to continue the fight.

I doubt the NES would continue long enough for Russia to be powerful enough to betray some of its more powerful allies, even if France would plan to do that.

I assume this aid won't actually reach you, as it is now nearly impossible for things from outside the country to reach you. Other than enemy armies.

We could honestly care less about the French: all we are interested in is destroying the Ottoman Empire. That has been the objective of the Byzantine Empire from the very beginning. We are surprised that, as theoretically "holy" men, you condemn us for rescuing Jerusalem itself from the grasp of the infidel...

The only reason we are at war with France is because France declared war, not the other way around. You may recall that we took pains to stay neutral in this conflict between the French allies and the Russian ones until France decided to declare war. OOC: You know, honestly, if that was your goal, why didn't you just declare neutrality, instead of allying with both sides? In such an arrangment, you'd be dragged in against the side who declared first in an inevitable conflict anyway...

Also, you wouldn't believe how much he spent on troops. Oh well, a right proper military funeral's got to be attended by a big crowd.

Actually, the French alliance was proposed by the French back when we were allied against the Ottomans (rather short-lived, I must say...), and the Russian one was...well, it dates back at least that far. If I'd annulled either one (God forbid both), I'd probably be left out in the cold or attacked because I might have been thought to be betraying either side by either side. (That's horrible grammar, btw.)

...and Iggy didn't have enough eco points to do that without sacrificing a level or two, plus his training level went down only one last turn.

Because they are trying to understand the political will and explanations for war tendered to the national populations, with the obvious goal of exploiting them towards their own ends?

Hey, I'm not complaining. It's rational when you think about it. Obviously, whoever we disagree with is led by an unstable leader. And obviously those who we think are unstable think the same about us.

I hate to spout cliche's, but you can win every battle and lose the war *shrug*. The Cartoon will be delayed as I have just finished university for the year and plan to be drunk for the foreseeable future.

plus England just won its second game! .... altough i was going for the underdog that did quite good defense for most of the game.
