There were no egalitists in Scandinavia (I think...), the EUA and Japan. They were (are?) just a central Europe phenomenon with a smaller following in North America.

Plus, by logic, it would be easier to focus on chaos in one alliance system, especially if you could then plant blame on the other to instigate a war that the public may or may not end up being happy about, one in which many poor are sure to die and increase the level of Egalitist sympathy.

I had no plans to annex Romania actually, and was abiding perfectly well by the terms of the Treaty of Vienna until you guys decided to annex Romania and invade my ally. As a good ally there was little I could do after that.

You attacking? An unfortunate side effect, but frankly, not that worrying. The worst you can do is take a chunk out of the Byzantines; we already have a couple of fleets in the Med, so you won't be able to strike at the heartland of Europe. And as long as we have the heartland, it's virtually impossible to topple the HRE.

Thats becuase we are a liberal(ish) representative democracy, which is what the egalist want (or one of the things at least), attacking us while there are repressive military dictatorships around would be a mite against their ethos .
