Gasp. Civ6 cribbed from us, not the other way around. They straight up took stuff from CSD and the CBO, including cluster farms and the concept of CS 'delegates.' That said, many things, like events and corporations, I cribbed (in concept, not execution) from Civ4. Human Civipede.
Turns out the pay for working on mods in your spare time is really terrible. Who knew?
Also, note that while the game is 10 years old, we've only had full DLL access for half that time. And, no lie, 75% of our time has been spent cleaning up and rewriting Civ5's...questionable DLL to make it moddable. So. Many. Hard. Coded. Things. And since that time I've been full time working, raising a family, etc. etc. As have the many, many modding supporters and friends we've made along the way.
Update for those who care on my end: if I've been quiet lately, it is because our child care closed due to Covid and my wife, a medical professional, was called into full service during the duration of this crisis. So we've been a bit strapped for time around here.
