New civ linked to new resource

Rubber, Congo, and Kongo have come up a million times. I'll just say, if they choose Kingdom of Kongo and give them rubber, it would be really stupid. More generally, it's just really sticky to represent; do you pick the DRC and Mobutu? Cuz damn, if you do, that's a pile of worms.

Kongo is a city-state revealed in an image already. Give up on Kongo; it's not going to happen.

What? The Democratic Republic of Congo is almost completely unrelated to the Kingdom of Kongo. Just like the Benin Empire has virtually no connection to the modern nation named Benin.

Why would they ever represent the Democratic Republic of Congo or choose a leader that recent? Neither would have any connection/impact on the Kingdom of Kongo's inclusion.

(Although the argument is moot at this point as Kongo is out).

....That's the whole point I was making....also, we all already know Kongo is out, this was before that reveal was found, and someone already stated it on the last page.

• Tea — Majapahit
• Coffee — A few options, though the apparent first cultivators are already in (Ethiopia)
• Seal — Inuits
• Rice — Though China is already in, so not completely sure
• Apricot — Armenia/Urartu

I'm so glad that the truffles has irked someone else!

Expanding on your idea (although sadly doesn't address "truffles").. leather.. a resource that could be used with cattle which already exist.

My issue with seals is that we already have a fur trap.. another resource for fur? :king:

Although I still bet for my Seals idea, I got another one to irk this discussion (still an animal, sort-of):

Leather (With.... Crocodiles!), so Australia would be there!

I think Rice and Tea are needed, Rice represents China, Vietnam and Indonesia and Tea represents India, China, Indonesia and Britain.

And Turkey... Tea represents Turkey too. Turkish people drink a lot of tea during the whole day and production of tea does occur in Turkey too.

Furthermore, in 2004, Turkey had the highest per capita tea consumption in the world, at 2.5 kg per person—followed by the United Kingdom (2.1 kg per person).
I believe morroccans are also drinking tea a lot. Looking at wikipedia there are a lot more countries which have a tea culture.

Something like Dates would speak strongly of the presence of a Middle Eastern/North African Civ, and we already know Israel is out...

I still don't rate Morocco's chances but it could be a possibility.

Crocodiles could be an interesting addition, considering they span the globe. They can live in jungles and swamplands.

In Brave New World (the book), there is a drug called "soma," which is an allusion to a ritualistic drink used in Persia and India. I wonder if they're going to make a tie there. Considering they did Poland because of some loose connection with the book, there could be a connection with that. (¿?) :king:

... I think you are getting mixed up. The Pueblo, not the Polish, were the heros of Huxley's book controlled by a World Government/Congress

Poland was included, because there are too many Polish nationalists on the internet

Note, I said loose connection, not direct. I do distinctly remember reading something where they explained Poland and I could feel the large question mark above my head (Like this guy -> ).

Look under "Ban, accusation of plagiarism." One of the devs explained they chose Poland to preface due to these accusations. Again, I say loose connection.

There's a reason they opened up with Poland, and trust me, I'm sure there are a lot of Indians and east Asians who are eagerly awaiting more representation which outnumber Polish nationalists. :king:

Quoting for truth.

And i really don't think it would be rice, coffee or tea, as this is apparently a lux that is so specific, it would let everyone know about a new civ. Rice has been grown in multiple continents and doesn't culturally 'belong' to one nation. The same goes for coffee and tea. If they announced those resources without mentioning the linkage with a civ, I don't even think a conspiracy theory would pop up. (And that's saying something!)

My guess is that it could be seal for Inuit or Canadian, which I get no pleasure out of guessing.

They chose Poland for the Cold War connections, most likely.

Stopped grasping at them, the straws have already been ruined.

That, in addition to the book, which the devs seem to mention a lot.

I have to wonder if instead of being a resource that is only used by one civ it might just be a pun along the lines of coffee = java = Java civ?

The other thought I had was if the world congress could be used to create a world cup type sporting event with the winner getting bonus happiness and tourism until the next event. If it is a world cup soccer(football) event that might show that Italy or Argentina will be added because I think they are the only huge soccer powers not accounted for yet.

ps. please forgive me if I missed your country as a soccer power as I don't follow it much.

They haven't mentioned Poland in association with the book. If it wasn't clear from my previous post, I was disagreeing precisely with the contention that the book is the reason they chose Poland.
