As this is would "only" affect graphics (more or less), would it be hard to mod?
Unit graphics, ressource icons and so on can be found in seperate folders. What about UI graphics? Are they hardcoded and therefore hidden? Or is there an easy way to change UI appearance with a graphic program?
Edit: I am aware, of course, that making *use* of different UI designs would need some changes in DLL.
I agree with Louis; era-specific UI is wishful thinking. All screenshots have the new style, including the "WWI" shots, where vanilla's art deco would be more appropriate than the baroque style.
Actually art deco came a few years AFTER World War 1, which was mostly drenched in whirly and wavy art nouveau mixed with industrial influences (see war propaganda posters), similar in expression and the amount of detailing to baroque. Sleek art deco fits the Modern Era and Future era as well, seeing how many skyscrapers and technical details are there in the decorations.
Have the game programmed to use different art for each era. Then, if they don't want to create this art, just use an XML file to link to the same graphics for each. That way, a modder can change the style if he wants to per era without Firaxis's artists having to take the time to make unique art.
