Seems cities only attack when it's relatively safe for them to do so, as if they're melee units.

Looks like the correct move to me. What difference is that bombard going to make except to add XP to your cannon?

you can already automate cities and workers. At that point you should probably just run the game in observer mode :lol:

No. Not technically feasible. As pdan said, just play an AI only game at that point.

City production choices can get repetitive and pointless, particularly with many cities and in the lategame where micromanagement is most subject to diminishing returns. It's a comfort feature to remove low-relevance choices. If you use it during the early game you may suffer greatly later on!

Army management is pretty much always of high importance, even if it is repetitive. You might as well not play the game.

I knew it would be hard to do and as such it was meant more as a joke. What I enjoy is the diplomacy aspect of the game and choosing what to build and invest into. I get burned out when there's long wars. Part of the game but I will enjoy it more when I get better at it.
 
Hello, I have a question. I've created my modpack. It works fine and there seems to be no compatibility issues on my side when I test it. However, when I attempted to play with my friend, and after the 4th turn she kept crashing after every turn and had reconnect (the pc takes a turn for her then clicks next turn and same things happen).

Events were deactivated, they had already met a civilization.

I also have Ul_bc1 folder in the DLC folder. I noticed she did not have that folder in her game so I added it by installing VP 2.1 on her game and then deleting all mods (leaving just the Ul_bc1 folder; I added the modpack to DLC afterward)

EDIT: Forgot to add that I wanted to double check what the problem with the crashes was so I can remake the modpack in 2.1.1 if needed.
 
I cant get "even more resources" to work. I have seen othet thread where it supposedly include prefixed one but it didnt have one. Where can i find one that is compatible with the current patch?

Civ auto battler!

I do like the combat but it can certainly be wearing, making the game take upto 5x as long as a peaceful game.
 
Every game I have played recently I am either winning or losing via cultural victory.
I feel that tourism is tweaked too high, and cultural world congress proposals which affect tourism tweaked to high too.

I feel the game moves too fast once you hit the modern era.
Maybe an increase cost for policies and research during these eras so the game doesn't zip by all of a sudden.

I bore out long before modern era, so not speaking from experience, but could the Pangea map exacerbate the issue? Thinking that like religious spread, tourism effects across oceans may be less pronounced than on Pangea landmass?
 
I second culture victory is the easiest victory to get if peaceful, although domination is similar if playing warmongering, though not by the AI. Diplomacy takes an age to pass in the WC to get the UN, & space victory is a real bore fest, especially if you are leading with science & not pinching all science/techs through spying. Domination is good once in a while, but I like playing peaceful mostly, & I always get culture victory, if I win, whatever civ I play. If I don't win, some AI civ will gain a culture victory. Space/Diplomacy never seem to happen. Nothing really to do about domination, but culture victory should be far harder to get & come later like the other two.
 
I'm not a balance guy but everyone I've heard agrees on this, maybe a nerf to tourism is justified. I really like Milae's tourism changes that make building tourism a per-turn yield instead of instant. People think it isn't enough though, so maybe a x% decrease to other instant tourism yields is needed.
 
does anyone know if this version / previous versions fixed the bug where conquering a holy city does not transfer the religion properly (when you didnt have a religion before)?

1.2.X is the last version before the backend religion updates that caused these issues.
 
I agree cultural is the quickest victory but I also kind of like there is a way the AI can win. Put a bit of a clock on the game.

I actually think that might go a long way to make things alot easier to work on in regards to balance, if it was introduced across the board, with global modifiers being left to policy acquisition, leader traits and the likes. It would I am guessing require alot of work, given the scope that VP has become since conception.
 
I second the idea of making per turn tourism more valuable than instant yields tourism. It'd make investing in great works throughout the game feel more rewarding, without hurting the instant boosts of GA and GW much if at all
