Newt Up in Polls.

Not to brag, I've been very unsurprised by what has transpired so far in the general sense. I had suspected since before the 2010 elections that the GOP would misinterpret natural gains in Congress (the pendulum swinging away from Dem-controlled WH and congress) as some sort of sign that the people were really on their side and get really carried away with themselves. Which they appear to have done.

The only things that have really surprised so far is 1.) that Huntsman got in the race at all (I figured he'd be the guy the GOP turned to after they return to their senses) and 2.) just how hard and fast candidates have imploded. The last month or so has been nuts.

Huntsman is a guy I figured would be the Secretary of the State, or maybe a VP candidate to balance out a crazy person. I am shocked he's actually in the running.

The turnover has been crazy. Before the actual primaries get going, we always have a bunch of candidates jockeying for positions (and it narrows down to 2 or 3 main candidates). It's not so much the number of candidates that has been impressive, but the magnitude of the swings.
