Night of the Werewolves XXII: The Road to Ruin (Game Thread)

Well, let Nico take care of this. Hopefully he'll open it up in front of everybody so we can all see what it is, eh?

I like this idea and agree that Niklas should get the crate. I also hope that Lightfang can use the map to help get us out of this mess.

Let's hope the crate's not a bomb, eh? From our friends in "Command"? But yeah, give it to Niklas, sure, why not.

Lightfang can have the map, seeing as everyone's so eager to give it to him.

Specialist Renata is in a towering funk after his outburst of earlier that day. No one's particularly eager to go bother him.

Here REnata... Have some Lemonade... ought to cool you down.

The crate should be opened by Niklas, of course...

Of course our glorious leader should open the crate... Niklas, go ahead

And as for some of your comments to the effect that we should go through that there quick way, I just have to say this- We only got so much medicine. After a while things start to run out. Now I don't know exactly what no airstrike does but I can guarantee that if we get attacked once more then we'll be taking a lot longer to ree-coop-er-ate ain't that right?. I've got some tricks up my sleeve but ain't enough for the whole dang squad to go running 'round gettin shot at. {Clarification= I can heal more people but after a few attacks, my efficiency will be greatly diminished. I say we take the extra day(which isn't actually extra at all, just normal) to stay a bit safer. The lesser of two evils though imo is the fast way if I must take sides in that debate. Still, my vote remains with the middle path unless it's needed to break a tie between quick/long}

Remember, haste makes waste

Thank you, thomas.berubeg. I've not been too happy about the way you're treating your weapon, but you're a real human being. Cheers.

Let's see here. It looks like we're gonna be taking the shortest route by the looks of it. I might get my math wrong, but then again, I wasn't so good at math in school. S'why I'm in the army, see.

Now: let me reveal to you another thing 'bout this here air support I got. I think I shoulda chose my words mo' carefully. I can get away wif bein' vague 'n' sh-- back home in New Yawk. I'd sooner punch youse out den explain myself. But we're in a hairy situation, so let me be poifectly clear.

It ain't an airstrike. What, you think Command is gonna trust a scout wif that kind of stuff? Plus, they prolly dun' wanna fill the paperwork out. No, my friends, this is stealthy sh--. This is a spy plane. We'll be able to map out the territory in front of us, find the ambushes, do all dat.

Now, there are some caveats here. First, I can only call this at night. I know this makes me a big target, but hey, I'll share the information to help the team. Second, Command is only gonna let me call it a limited amount of times. Too much activity is gonna alert everyone else.

Now, to prove dat I'm not a liar and to indicate my trust in y'all, I'm going to put this up democratically. Also, because I really don't know when's the best time to call the plane in.

I could do it tonight, in which case our first steps into enemy territory would definitely be clear.

I could do it tomorrow night, in case the enemy wasn't expectin' us and our little excursion into their territory surprised them enough (since we're so damn brazen) that they had to wait a full day to set ambushes up.

It's up to all of ya.

* The recruiter looks around at the remaining people* Charles, stop being an idiot. We don't have proof that you ain't feeding us trechery hook line and sinker. So I'd very much appriciate if you'd quite down. As for the people complaining he is sentancing people to death, aren't people going to die anyway? Unless we kill this traitor, this disaster won't get any safer for any of us.

The map to Lightfang. Also take the short route ya pansies. We ain't paid by the hour, and them insurgeant likely to kill this traitor for us. AS for who he is I ain't sure. But I still have to wonder, why the heck does a weapons specialist want to command this squad? If you was ambitious son, you would have gone to officer school. LAcking for a better I choice I still suspect Nico

I will say that Charles Li, should be put to death. He wants it anyway, so we might as well give it to him. With LightFang's spy plane, I think that the shortest route will be safe enough. I say that the sonner that we get the **** out of here, the better.

And I'll add that sending a recon plane right before we head deep into the enemy territory sounds like a good idea.

And Charles ? Go hang in there will you...

{OOC : Damn you all and your bandwagons, how am I supposed to save him now :p Well, ok, I guess this counts as overwhelming evidence.}

Just to be clear, as this was pointed out to me, but Charles Li is the one who edited his posts. I did not. I'm unsure if he added the "please follow forum rules" to give the impression it was me, or what. I simply want to clarify that this was a player action by Charles Li, though an odd one. You can also note that the post says last edited by Charles Li and mot myself or another mod. Odd strategy maybe?

Evening, Day 4

The sun set on one of the most stressful days so far. Making it to the fork in the road just before sundown, the squad had decided to take the brazen route through insurgent territory, figuring the day saved in travel now would make up for any insurgent attacks later.

The crate had been unanimously voted to their Platoon Leader Niklas. He and another picked up the crate and shuffled it into Niklas' tent, where Niklas would reveal the contents to himself sometime later. As for the map, it too had a unanimous vote to go to Lightfang. He immediately went to work analyzing the map for any possible tricky spots along the way, but it looked like anywhere was a possible hiding spot for those insurgents.

The wire cutters too found a home with Renata. The tie had been broken just after midday and it was a lead Renata never relinquished.

With all of the quote "good" news aside, there came the time to go about the grim business of convicting Charles Li. Overwhelmed with votes against him after a mental breakdown, the squad seemed happy to put the troubled radio operator out of his misery, although killing one of their own was never easy.

As Platoon Leader, Niklas handled the proceedings as best he could. Addressing Charles Li, who meanwhile had been tied to metal stake pounded into the ground against a cliff facing, he began the sentencing.

"Charles Li, your actions have spoken louder than your own words, thus leading you to this day of judgment. Your actions have already condemned one man to death and this squad cannot abide by your actions any longer. As such, you have been sentenced to death for acts of treason. Do you have anything to say for yourself?"

Charles Li stood there, head hung low as the sentence was given. He didn't even look up at Niklas or anyone else for that matter. He spat at the ground in disgust, feeling betrayed by his own squad.

"Very well then." Niklas turned to Renata. "Ready. Aim. Fire."

"Big Tom" came to life in response. A stream of lead entered Charles Li's slouched body, tearing through his flesh and embedding itself in the now blood-stained rock behind him. After 20 rounds of lead left the automatic weapon, Renata let off the trigger, a small wisp of smoke exiting the barrel immediately afterward as if the weapon was taking a smoke break after a long day. CCRunner slowly moved forward to check his vitals, but it was a useless endeavor. There was no doubt the bullets had completed their task with ease.

After the execution, Niklas and the others rummaged through Charles Li's pack, finding his radio in one piece. It should be noted that nothing else incriminating Charles Li as a rogue agent were found. As such, it was concluded that

Spoiler :
Charles Li was a loyaist.

The rest of the squad erected their tents for the night with the exception of Tasslehoff, relegated to hanging out with another large rock for the night. It had been a long day where a number of crucial decisions had been cast. The moon cast an ominous glow as the men settled into their sleeping bags for the night. The squad had spoken - tomorrow set in motion another inevitable date with the insurgents. "This time we'll be ready," they all thought. "We'll get them this time."

My God you people are JACKALS!

OOC: can someone tell me why I stopped getting emails from this thread? not that I had enough time to post a lot anyways but I was wondering why no one was posting and there's 3 pages I missed.

[You only get one from any thread, then you have to visit the forums before you get another. If you've been in the forums and it still happened, it's probably a glitch.]

Morning, Day 5

Everybody woke up and began their routine. Tents we’re torn down, the cook went about making breakfast, and Tasslehoff was united after spending his two nights bound. The men also went about searching for the man who was killed last night, since after three mornings of finding someone dead there was a pretty good chance that trend would continue. And indeed it did.

rhawn was found slumped over his pack, a pair of bullet wounds in his back and another two in his stomach. The poor man had bled out as a large red puddle covered most of the dirt floor inside. Searching through his belongings, nothing of interest was found.

Spoiler :
rhawn was a loyalist.

After a very active day yesterday of casting various votes, only one thing was up to be decided on today. Charles Li’s radio was the only item needing a new home and hopefully by the end of today it would. After the men finished eating and packing, a pair of unmanned drones flew precariously close to the men heading northwest to cover their route for the day. As the men got ready to leave, word came in that no hostiles were found near the route and that their travel today should be safe from any ambushes. Breathing a sigh of relief, the men head out, setting foot in some very dangerous territory. At least for today they’d be safe.

It is now day!

Welcome back, Tasslehoff. Thanks for keeping me company outside two nights ago.

Anyways, Big Tom could do something with the radio.

Now, Icekommander has accused our honorable platoon leader, Niklas, on barely any charges. This is very suspicious.
