Year 9

Peace seems to have gotten a hold of the galaxy once more. Expansion, redevelopment and trade in abundance all help making the galaxy feel alive and vibrant, like the pre-scourge days. Almost. For while the systems in the galaxy core sees merchant ships passing through the gates daily, plying their routes as often as it is deemed safe to do so, the outer rim is still desolate. But with the current pace of expansion, it probably won't be many years until all of the connected galaxy is alive once again, in one form or another.

The most core system of all core systems, Sol, saw without a doubt the most action of all. The IG Games hosted there turned most everyone's eyes in that direction, and Sol was once again perceived as the center of the known universe. But far more important than any games, at least to the residents of Earth, were the massive directed investments being made into rebuilding and redeveloping the Sol system, to help it shake off the yoke of warlords and the terrors of war and look towards a bright future. All other redevelopment efforts thruoghout the galaxy thus far were quite simply dwarfed by the immensity of Sol's regrowth. How much of this came about due to the upcoming elections, as a propaganda effort, we will probably never know. Regardless, it was a very successful move. After the U.S.C. stepped in and took control, the system quickly went from relative poverty to prosperity, from disunity to cooperation, from a near-empty shell to a place of hopes and dreams of the future. It was obvious rather early what direction the wind was blowing, and what the result of the elections would be. The Emergents made some brave attempts to bring a second opinion to the table, urging the people to see the invasion and occupation for what it was, but the words rang like false notes against the veritable symphony of redevelopment and prosperity. In the end the vote was a mere formality, with 87.7% of all voters supporting a join with the U.S.C..

In the end, those Emergent words may still have had some effect though, as the reinstated U.P.N.C.S. requested that the merging be moderated so that Sol would retain some semi-autonomy within the umbrella of the U.S.C., dictating its own domestic policies while defering to the U.S.C. in foreign and military matters.

Elsewhere in the galaxy, relations seem to grow deeper, bonds begin to strengthen. Some don't seem to feel this need though, in particular the Furians who not only snubbed several decided upon deals, not for the first time. They also made no move to vacate the system of Kruger, despite agreements with the NAM, and they did not even bother to respond to the Nekomi pledge for joining the defensive alliance of the Furians and the Emergents, costing the Nekomi dearly. The Emergents may not know what they have gotten themselves into with their alliance.

Random mini-spotlight

Both factions were keen on being first. Who won the informal race will probably never be known as early discoveries were kept under the lid, but U.S.C. scientists were the first to publically announce that they had managed to create capacitors to store and discharge some of the most harmful time distortion effects bestowed by the warpgates. The Nekomi quickly announced their own version very shortly afterwards, suggesting they had had them for a while already. Merchants in both nations were clearly overjoyed at the news, while high-ranking military officers start drawing larger maps showing possible attack venues. The galaxy be warned.

Sorry about the missing story bonuses, I will have to fill these in later, and update your stats to go with it. I'd rather go live with the update now than to delay everything because of this. EDIT: Story bonuses added!
Also you may notice that your descriptions are missing - I went over the character limit on that post. It's temporary though, I'll think of something.

You know, I don't think he forgot as much as he chose to ignore.... :(
OOC: Given they vacated Kruger and the word "snub" was used, more like "went back on". :p

OOC: It being April 2, I hereby demand you cease using your pirated version of my avatar. :p

Actualy, Yep. Third greatest base production, second greatest Econemy, Greatest Trade. NAM is the only other faction that has more production capacity then I do, and only by 2 PP.

Someone isn't checking the stats throughly, Nik has failed to update the summation line, NAM actually has a base production of 182 (times to 237), slightly better than your piddling 124 (167), and your trade advantage is due to the [Warpgate Capacitors] you seem so keen to sell ;).
