Nuke Nes IX: Genesis and Armageddon

Lyba Orders

Spoiler :

Warfare - Continue capturing Cayun territory in the east and west - if their is a citadel or impregnable city, pillage everything in the surrounding territories. Burn their farms, rape their women, and sell their men and children into slavery if they resist their new Lyban overlords. Use our navy to support assaults on coastal villages, if it doesn't appear as though there are Cayun warships nearby.

Navy - Continue expanding and outfitting ships so that they can fight properly against the Cayun warships. Raid coast sides that are unprotected and attack merchant ships.

Establish capital where Lyba started (roughly where Carthage would be in real life) - it's name is Qart-Lyba (New Lyba). Qart-Lyba will become the first official city of the Kingdom.

Sorry, lag made me doublepost my orders.

Alright! Great Update! Vanukuratan Victory! I guess the Weknobmuts retired back to being religious folk then. But a few notes/Questions.
What did Shanuka do?
The new Vanukuratan Capital should be in the interior, on the junction between the fertile Anatolian/Vanukan Plateau and the Anatolian/Iron Hills. I need to browse google Maps when I get the time and ponder the location where a warlord can establish a centralized, strong, but easily defended base.
What is that city you referred to near the end?

Vanuka->Interregnum Vanukan Chiefdoms
Year 193 Nannukan Calendar-Era 6 Begins
Year 200 Vanuka is the Master of the Vanukan Peninsula, but checked on all sides by walls, fortresses and armies... yet cracks are beginning to form with the rise of plague and the 'Wasting Death'.
Year 213 A plague, whether or not connected to the Death, runs through Vanuka and carries off King Serat III
Year 217 Weknobmut Dynasty Collapses in Vanuka with the last King, Kantos II, seen as weak by declaring peace and preventing raids of Cayun and Ut. Despite preparing war with Turyline. His armies deserted to the growing Warlords of the interior.
Year 218 First Organized Raid Stabs deep into the northern Ut provinces.
Year 219 The City of Vanu-Serat is sacked by a collection of Warchiefs and its seige weapons and engineers, sky-metal and forge workers, and even the brick of its walls were carted away for them to build their own fortresses. The Inter-Dynastic Period of Vanuka begins.
Year 224 First Warlord Invasion of the Northern Ut Provinces
Year 227 First major verified plague of Death struck the Vanukan Peninsula, with the shriveled bones forming a thick layer in the catacombs of the finally ruined city of Vanu-Serat. Last Weknobmut King' 'dies during this time, himself barely a warlord. The Weknobmuts return to religious pedagogery.
Year 232 The last Weknobmut General dies in a lonely fortress besiged by warlords, and with him scatters the last major stockpile of artillery and engineers. However, their skill meant that the honorable Warlord Betrum allowed them to escape slavery. Becomming rich off of choice bits of loot and many campaigns, they soon brought any survivers they can find from forced military service. From then on it is a secret art held by apprenticeships, and practiced in the hills. Seige Engineers and Operators became a privileged and rich class of their own, mercenaries in the truest form. Although they have less loyalty, their constant experience and ability to collect under any promise of loot helps extra-Nannukan invasions into Cayun, Turyline and the Ut Shia.

Taharnnen

The Taharnnen leadership in this period recognised the growing Taharnnen seafaring tradition, and so moved the capital to Fer'ik on the coast (OOC: southern Mozambique). From there, Taharnnen trade influence spread. The extremely lucrative trade in shark-related products, which had replaced agriculture as the staple of Taharnnen life, met trade in ores and alpine items that had sprung up along with the tribes that had sprung up in the Drakensbergs, and trade in hunted beasts from the southern I'serth plains. Taharnnen culture influenced these tribes loosely, but during this period Taharnnen expansion was limited. But as trade grew, the Taharnnen became rich and powerful, the dominant culture in the southern part of I'serth.

Korowai Orders

Spoiler :
Agressively move the west and conquer all of Papua New Gueniea.

Story

Several hundred people were in a camp all chatting and making various conversations about everyday life (eg: hunting, religion, philisophy, ect). All of these people were also from various tribes, who are often at violent conflict with one another. But then a deafing silence decended over the Korowai as the elder spoke.

"We all have been summoned here because we may hate each other but I can sence outsiders are coming into our lands. Therefore we all must unite, if only this one time and move to the west. We can't allow forgieners to enter our homeland. So we are all going to vote, with everyone raising their hand when I say yes or no. Just remember this, is a vote that will determine our fate and survival."

It seemed as if nobody was going to vote yes but one person, a young child raised his hand and said, "come on people! you heard the elder, our people depend on tonights vote."

Soon after one, and then two, and then several people raised there hands. This child was the sole person responsibal for changing the course of Korowai history.

Tribal Structure

The type of goverments within the Korowai Tribal System is very diverse and has everything from oligarchies, to monarchies, to republics. However, the most common form of goverment is direct democracy where everybody (who has the capacity to do so (eg: includes anyone but the brain dead or infants)) is able to vote on issues impacting the tribe.

There is another event though that is rather (if not extreremely rare) which is the concil of elders. This happens in times of great crisis and it's where every Korowai Tribe, comes to discuss and vote on a critical issue. This is the one time where the Korowai put their tribal differences and conflicts aside. These meetings also provide a great sence of unity between various tribes because members of different tribes get to interact and talk to each other without the fear of being killed or attacked.

Anyone who starts conflict at a Korowai Concil is automaticly attacked by members of all the tribes present at the meeting. A semi-simmilar practice of tribal unity does happen on a more frequent scale. Rather than being a political meeting the more common type of tribal gathering is for compitition and sport (eg: kind of like the greek olympics).

Each tribe at this event try to outdo each other in mock fights, running, swimming, and hunting compitions. The point of these cultural events is to unify various tribes in a more peaceful manner and without having to resort to warfare.

At the final dinner of each tribal gathering all the meat gathered from hunted animals along with any fruits or other plant life is cooked and served to everyone at the event. Small children and pregnate women get to pick what food they want to eat first followed by everyone else.

Everyone at these events during the last night treat each other as if they were really close freinds but by midnight everyone is expected to pack up and leave and with good reason. Anyone who stays behind the next day is a target for the very same village that hosted the tribal gathering just a day before.

It's Sunday, and I'm missing quite a few orders. So I'll take this time to bring up something that's been chewing on me.

When I first started this, I was hoping this would primarily be a story nes as you guys would develop your culture and its landmarks and history, orders would for the most part be short as what you wanted done was in your stories, and updates would be expanding on stuff that you guys already did and moderate battles and such.

And at the beginning, it did seem that way, and people were writing lots of stories (people still are, this is a generalization), but it has been petering out.

So, I am giving you players a choice. We have 3 options; one is that we continue the game as is, 100 to 200 year turns, and then developing to 50 to 100 years and then 25 to 50 years. The game would not change, but I would really like to see more stories, more fleshing out on your part.

Option two is a fast forward. We do some generalized stories and then we move this nes to a more traditional style game. We'd keep the same culture and such, you guys could choose the time period. Middle Ages? Age of Discovery? Steampunk style age? Who knows? Maybe a combination of all three, it'd be up to you. The idea would be I do some general updates on how your cultures progress and the type of world that it becomes, and then you guys take it from there.

Option 3 is that there is no option 3 set out. It includes "Nuke this nes sucks, don't mod again", "Nuke I like your neses but could we do a (Modern, Alt. History, Normal history, ect.)" or anything else you like.

This is not a pure democratic vote (though it will be an influence). I want to see what you guys think, and we can go from there.

But in the meantime, due to lack of many orders, the update has not proceeded as initially hoped.

What option 3 Milarqui? :p
