For the purposes of this thread, insomnia shall be defined as a chronic inability to get an amount of sleep required for long term mental and physical heath.

Now, with that out of the way, does anyone else suffer from insomnia? Does anyone have any tips for beating it? I'm tired of not getting enough sleep and then being tired the next day.

Rather than viewing the world as precious and dear and life as short. Think of it like this. Life is long and boring. Everything I do will probably be forgotten. So fok it and go to sleep.

If you really have insomnia, then typical remedies are unlikely to help you much. If on the other hand you just can't fall asleep, then I find hitting the gym after work helps a lot. Also, removing any sort of distractions from your bedroom (TV, laptop, etc.) - it should be for sleeping only.

I missed this thread by a few hours. Damn, I knew I shouldn't have fallen asleep

I don't got insomnia, but I did sleep in a weird position last night and it kinda cranked my neck. [pissed]

Ugh...last night was one of those nights. Well, it's been like that all week but last night was the worst. Took about three hours to fall to sleep...no matter how tired I was, my mind just wouldn't shut the hell up...:gripe:

For the past days i have been having some trouble falling asleep. It takes 2-3 hours to do that now... The stupid heat doesn't help either.

Well, I'm glad for my ability to stay up really late (wouldn't count it as insomnia because I can get to sleep when I want to pretty much.) Bloody homework.

It really sucks to have insomnia, it really does. I feel for you all. :(

Try to fully read about six articles in the economist while lying in bed.

Been there, done that. It gets me so excited, I'm awake another hour. :goodjob:

I'm also well ahead of schedule in reading the book that I posted in my last post in the reading thread.

Anyone able to pull all-nighters just for fun? Because I know I can't :(

Sleep is a waste of time, there are so many other things that you could be doing instead of sleeping.

That's exactly what I think, and that's why I wake up very early and go to sleep very late. Unfortunately for me I don't have insomnia and get tired/sleepy quite often.

A fan (maybe with a jug of water in front) usually does the trick for me. Cold air usually floors me pretty quickly.
