Official Civ4 S&T Off-Topic Thread

I'm late as usual :p

Glad to see we have revived. At least I could use my time to do several other things while I'm still not back on college.

Now I'll have to spend a lot of it reading everything that has been happening for these days I wasn't aware CFC had gotten back.

I just realized I haven't done anything at all as the story teller for the Democratic Caliphate. Plus a bunch of summer I need to do that I haven't gotten around to yet. And I'm still here typing on this forum.

Well, we can blame me for the most of the slow process, so you're actually far better then me, although that's not meant to encourage you to keep postponing it :p

But don't feel pressured. It's better to write something that pleases you then to rush something that you don't quite like.

I still have to update the Master Map for the Caliphate (which will surely take a long time) and make the reports (which will also take a long time). Meanwhile I'm trying to write a program to help me working on the reports, so it gets easier and faster to make these. So you're actually giving me more time

Don't worry, take your time. If you feel some of our other writers in the Caliphate could have some info about the term to make their own sidestories, feel free to give them that info, while you don't have time to make the official updates.

@Spirictum - come to think of it you also have yet to work on the India map for Tryst :P . I marked out the cities like you asked, after that no response :D .

I'll check that as soon as possible, I really thought it was pending something but I don't remember what :crazyeye:

One of the most interesting games I've ever played. When the last war started I was at an equal power level with Sumeria, even though it was Modern Armor against Calvary, Cannons and Infantry. At the end of the game I had FIFTY Modern Armor, had completely destroyed three civilizations, capitulated a fourth, completely dominated my starting continent along with 80% of the other continent.
I never did conquer Babylonia sadly on their island, but such is life.
I could've gone for a Space Race victory comfortably, but that would've been extremely boring. Much more fun to destroy two more civs before the end of the game for a Dom victory.

It's the story of a woman named Molly Clifford, and of a man named Jim. Jim works to close places like soup kitchens, and Molly takes him to meet the people he is hurting to hopefully change his ways.

It'd be quite a twist if Jim promises to change but turns out to be a jerk anyways and takes down he soup kitchen while people were actually inside it XD .

Congratulations! There is no bigger pleasure then to start a game you feel it's balanced, and then in the end your state is a lot into the future compared to any other nation on your world, and consequentially you're its overlord. I still remember my last Emperor game, and I have no idea how many years have passed since it. If I dig on my old pc, I may find a date.

It was a victory on the style of yours, but I don't remember the details anymore (although I probably have the last savegame). I was using the Zulu. From that victory onwards, I started playing on Immortal. I suffered a lot on Immortal until I finally got my overlord victory on it and started playing on Deity. But I didn't get back to play Emperor ever again.

You know that this game is telling you to try a harder setting right? The AI is completely incompetent against you in that game. I always interpret this style of victory as: Yeah, I've beaten this level, now I should try the next one.
You are a player better then expected to all the AIs. Even winning an "equal" war, there is no equality in a bunch of Modern Armors vs a Massive sized army of Infantry, Cavalry and Cannons. The numbers may tell there is a balance, but a nation which is able to train Modern Armor divisions is far more capable to win a war then the one which is stuck in Infantry, no matter its size. The size is probably helping to stagnate it, rather then to improve it.

Overwhelming numbers don't count for much when the enemy has shiny armor. Its really too bad that the game doesn't take numbers into account. You could throw 20 inferior units at a superior and not even damage it. Since the game will simply calculate it as them individually attacking, one after another, with no real cohesion. I guess its inevitable being a turn based game.

At the same time your units are dieing in battles they had less than 5% chance to lose. In which case it would have made more sense for them to succeed but have taken a massive amount of damage. So much so that they couldn't really afford any more 'victories' like that.

I certainly need to move up a level after this. Noble is getting pretty easy, so I'm moving to Prince next game (Napoleon most likely)

I've always played on the lowest difficulty, whatever it may be for the mod. Mostly because I like to win and I suck anyways.
