Oh, the weather outside is...

For whole 8 hours, temperatures over 30 degrees, no wind, no cloud in the sky. Felt like chicken in the oven when going out. Not even my dog wanted to get out of air conditioned rooms the whole time.

That is summer in NM except we do have nice breezes.

Was that the short story where there was only ten minutes of sunlight every seven years or so?
They played a short movie of that story for me in school and I was so excited because it was about space colonization but then I was so saddened by the ending I nearly cried. It crushed me.

It's been at or near 100 F / 37 C here all week. It hit 130 F in Death Valley. :(

We got a cold front recently that dropped the humidity and made the nights cooler, but it's still hot during the day. The lows have been around 62F/17C, but it's been getting up around 90F/32C during the day, so it still feels hot in the sun.

It hasn't hit 100F/38C this summer, which is unusual for Oklahoma.

We get tonight a summer storm.
Happens rarely... normally it is autumn before we get storms

Thunder and lightning and wind and rain, oh my! It's supposed to last until tomorrow, and then the weekend is taken up by the remnants of hurricane Laura.

EDIT: Woohoo! 8000 posts!

We've had about the hottest summer and the most heatwave days of any summer ever and a drought on top of it. It's been terrible last couple months.

Heavy rain, LOUD thunder, nasty winds. :run: Lost satellite TV [which is to be expected], lost cable TV [which should never happen], lost electric power [which held on longer than I expected], and lost internet.

I have outside dogs. They have places all over the property where they can shelter. :scared: But the winds were swirling so, they got soaked. My driver took pity on them and herded them into the little house. :) The two kittens never left the little house. :p:p

We had a heat wave that pushed into the upper 90's/low 100's (low to high 30's) for the last two weeks but it's begun to abate. Yesterday it peaked in the low 80's (high 20's) and quickly fell below that in the afternoon. We were even able to open our windows only to find that our neighbor is still puffing cannabis on his porch albeit more discretely than before.

Thankfully we missed all of the record-breaking wildfires in California this year (knock on wood). There were a couple out where my wife's work is located but she's been working from home so she have to deal with it and most of the rest of the big fires were in northern California instead of down south where I'm at.

Hot day yesterday, one place got to 24.5 Celsius.

Not the highest temperature but its still winter here.

Not terrible.
Not not terrible but also not great.

Spoiler celebration and art :

Very slowly, the weather becomes a bit less terrible. This week the (average) high is supposed to be 30.
I hope that in a couple of weeks it will be bearable, which should be a high of 25.

Finally I won't have to wear a t-shirt all the time.

Moderate drought, beans are giving out, no late weight. Lawn is too dead to mow, could shorten down the weeds, but then everything would go brown. Bleh.

Sitting out on my apartment balcony, I can feel the humidity still even at night. Not so hot, but still sticky.
