Oh, the weather outside is...

It's supposed to be in the 30s all week. We had a brief electrical storm last night, but no rain (there were some ominous storm clouds but they didn't do anything except swear at us). I made sure I knew where the flashlights were in case of a power outage and continued on.

It finally got too hot to think coherently, so I cut my writing time short for NaNoWriMo and went to bed (luckily I'd already passed my daily minimum number of words). When things get like that, sleeping through it is the only thing left to do.

My brain has petered out for tonight. It's only 10:35 pm, but it's just too hot to think anymore.

Still, it could be worse. At least there aren't any forest fires around here, like there are in BC. From the maps, it looks like half the province is on fire. :(

^Too hot in Canada? Is it 15 Celsius or something? :D
The humidex right now is 25C. Keep in mind that it's nearly 11 pm.

It's supposed to get up to 35C tomorrow, and rain is not expected. Thunderstorms are, though, and that's a problem, since lightning starts fires wherever the hell it feels like. That's why there are so many forest fires in BC right now. They weren't all caused by human stupidity.

At least they're evacuating people earlier there than they did here when Fort McMurray burned.

But it is only 7 in the morning.

How is that possible ???? I don't remember seeing a temperature below 10 since may or something, and you guys are supposed to be warm all the time

27°C all night long here.
Fun combination : temperature high as that which requires trying to sleep with the window open, and the usual [censored] neighbours who don't give a crap about anyone but themselves and talk loudly, laugh and put music on their balcony up to 3:00. There is about five groups like that in the vicinity, and they seem to rotate to ensure that at least one of them is being a nuisance every single weekend night...

I've got a serious headache from lack of sleep, and I have three hours of driving awaiting me. Oh the joy.
And I want to kill people. Lenghtly. Sadistically. With a Joker's smile and a lot of glee.

It's raining! :D

Okay, it's actually a thunderstorm. But it's raining a little bit, so that's nice. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit cooler, since I have an appointment in the afternoon.

It has been around 25°C last week here thanks to the west winds coming from the ocean. Very nice. However it is expected winds will roll this week to east wind, which implies hot weather, sleepless nights and general suffering.

Rain in July. Who'd a thunk it?

J
We had some last night, which was extremely welcome. It's why I'm even semi-functional today, because yesterday was the kind of day that makes me long for a crisp, chilly day in October, or even snow.

They could sure use some rain (without the thunder and lightning) in British Columbia. There are over 10,000 people displaced into emergency shelters in Kamloops and Prince George and some are moved from shelter to shelter as the wind keeps changing and blowing the fires in different directions.

And of course the surviving pets have been separated from their humans. Some communities are desperate for people to foster pets for those in the shelters who couldn't have them there.

The wind has picked up, we're on a severe thunderstorm alert, and the air is smoky.

Looks like the smoke from the BC forest fires is here. It's bad enough that I had to close the window. Otherwise, I'd have left it open, since it finally got cool enough to make things comfortable in here.

But when I start to cough, that's the deal-breaker.

EDIT: And now it's hailing. Not too serious, just pea-to-marble-sized hailstones so far. It's sure noisy out there.

Beautiful, warm, sunny days in the 90s all week (since May really). I hope we get some monsoon storms though. July has been dry this year. Breakfast and lunch on the patio with newspapers and books. :)

We were over 30 today, and 34 expected tomorrow. Bordeaux went up to 38 this weekend. It's hell.
