Oh, the weather outside is...

That's a good thing, isn't it? Or are they worse when they turn up late?

It's good in that we didn't need it. Weather in this part of the country can be weird. Some places not far south of here got a major storm. Here the weather people said for 3 days it was coming, and all day that day it was coming, and it never got here.

It's snowing this morning.

Same here - did about 11km in intermittent snow squalls this morning.

Camping season starts in less than 5 weeks, and most of the lakes and ponds at the campgrounds I visit are still frozen over:

Full spring here and so the windy season begins.

It's Easter, so that means rain. We're having plenty of it.

I was at Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park on the second weekend in May one year... the lake was still mostly frozen over, ice and snow were still on the ground here and there, and there were still people skiing on Mt. Norquay.

Lake Minnewanka is up in the mountains, and it was chilly, but not cold. It's the first time I was ever there in the spring, and it was such a wonderful, relaxing experience.

Camping season officially starts here on Victoria Day weekend. Every year it's interesting to see if the weather will cooperate, or if there will be people packing up their tents to go camping in the snow anyway.

I got a dusting of snow even down here in Oklahoma on Saturday morning. It stayed below freezing from midnight until early afternoon that day, but the snow was all gone by midafternoon. It ties with 2007 for the latest I've seen snow (that was in Williamsburg, VA on spring break, and was unusual for them, too). There was a hard freeze that night as well, which damaged some of the leaves. Since we have been drier than normal, I'm concerned about the state of the plants this year. But we haven't had much severe weather yet. Also, it's supposed to get up around 30C (mid 80s F) by Thursday. That will be quite the shock to everyone's system. It's really weird having seen snow three times since mid-March and with some deciduous trees at least partially leafed out each time.

It's been quite cold over most of the country this past week.

My favorite campground is about an hour south of the Ontario border, and Victoria Day weekend its about 80% Canadians at the campground. My campsite is usually off in the sticks, but in the evenings I can hear the excited shouts and screams of all the little kids echoing through the woods – as I sit by my fire it brings back memories of when I was a little kid camping there 40+ years ago.

After Victoria Day weekend the campground pretty much empties out, and its just the campground staff and me. I’ll move my campsite down to a water site, and in the evenings there are hundreds of peepers singing through the evening while I watch the sun set – it doesn’t get much better than that!

We were supposed to get snow last night, though I don't think we actually did - nothing stuck, anyway. This week temperatures will be up around 25C, and then next weekend snow is forecast again. We've done this up and down thing for months, and I'm sick of it. I'm afraid it will be replaced by up and up as we move closer to summer, though, and that will be worse.

The weather has been extremely unseasonable the last week, the last couple of days being up to 35C, even though it's halfway through Autumn. Combined with the extremely dry weather over the last six months, there's now a strong bushfire about 5km from where I live, moving fast towards homes. This is the latest bushfire I can remember, and one of the closest.

I'd email you some snow if I could, @Camikaze. I was reading the latest RCMP blog on the local city news site, and saw there was a warning about winter driving and to remember to "use winter tires on this snowy weekend"... so I looked out the window and saw that it had snowed overnight.

There's still a large pile of snow in the parking lot in front of my balcony.

Was warm here Friday and Saturday. Cold today. Supposed to rain a very large amount on Monday.
