Oh, the weather outside is...

Does your roof leak?

Like in Finland, spring has been a bit shy in Ohio this year. We'd get one-off warm days in March, always quickly disappearing, like spring noticed that we noticed it had made an appearance, and quickly retreated. Two days ago we got hail; yesterday we had snow flurries, although it was too warm for them to stick around.

But it looks like spring might be sticking around, starting today. A high of 58 is not exactly balmy, but after a couple weeks of highs in the 40s, usually low-to-mid, it's nice. Especially with sun. I made sure to spend several hours outside reacquainting myself with our nearest star.

Whoa, that was nasty. :run:

Severe Tropical Storm Agaton hit us directly. Then a typhoon ran up the coast, missing us, but hitting Leyte. That's where our power is generated. The generator flooded, and we fell into a prolonged blackout. Agaton was pulled backwards by the typhoon's ultra-low pressure. It passed back over us and on to Leyte, adding to the flooding there. Days later, we finally have electricity back, :whew:

A symphony like that usually makes me planning an immediate termination of life permission for such creatures. So far I have tons of imaginative plans but the execution phase is seriously delayed.

Spring has gathered some courage and has started performing by melting the snow quite quickly.

Sunny and in the 80s today.

We got snow today here too. It was on my windshield this morning. Didn't stick around, but it's pretty late for snow in Ohio. I can only remember one other year where we got snow this late, 2018 or so IIRC. I think we got a bit more late snow that year.

It's supposed to hit 81F/27C this weekend though, which will hopefully mean that any future cooler weeks will not be cold enough to get snow.

I've been having a weird argument on some YT channel with some old guy from Texas or somewhere, and out of the blue he decided to ask that since it's May, didn't we have snow here (I'd mentioned I'm in Western Canada).

The weather can be the thing that brings an argument to a screeching halt. It's been a pleasant conversation since then.

Oh, and the snow? Nothing within the last 3 weeks. Now it's spring, lots of wind, bit of thunder... too many clouds here to see the recent lunar eclipse, <censored>.

That sounds weird to me. The english are famous for talking about the weather, and we do it because it is generally a completely non-controversial topic that you can bring up with anyone without the risk of the conversation getting heated.

I'll take the weather over a conversation where the other person is arguing that the bible is literally true and the scientists don't know anything.

Scientists do not know anything, they just have better defined error bars.
Spoiler :
I am kind of joking, but the essence of science is not to believe anything, and you never prove anything exactly, just disprove things and come up with models that fit reality a little better than the last ones.

Some believers mock science because of that changing state of knowledge. That's the scientific method doing its job correctly.

Moderator Action: Weather, weather, weather please!

There was thunder earlier tonight. No full-on storm, though. It's still a bit early in the year for those.

It's been raining on and off for almost a week, thankfully no flooding (yet).

No rain for months; hoping for an early monsoon.
