I liked emo before it was emo! Greenday are weird... they're called so many things. Back when I first got into them, they were grunge (purely because the same people that liked Greenday liked Nirvana too...). Then when I started listening to punk, I realised that they were former pop-punkers who had sold out. I can't really get why Greenday are emo, but I suppose the only song I've heard of them in the past couple years was American Idiot... which wasn't very emo. Emo has nothing to do with depressive, thats just teenage angst showing up. Emo is about liking small unheard bands, and more about how you look than anything. nearly all black clothes, occasionally girls mix in vibrant colours. Same hair for both boys and girls, chopped up, black, usually covering one eye.

Ah yes, all emo kids always rant on about bands you've never heard of, then 3 weeks later they are on the front of Kerrang. THis has been a really interesting thread. Teenagers have always tended to pigeonhole themselves, I'm amazed at th evariety avaiable today. It's gone from Mods and Rockers in the 60s to Preppies, Punks and Rockons in the 80s (my time) and today, geez there's so many, and the lines are so blurry.

EMO-Is the music, soft depressing and lyrical, and should only be used to describe music. (examples- Dashboard Confessional, Brand New, Panic! at the Disco, The Spill Canvas)Hitro said:
