After making a joke post in the latest political compass thread, I decided that I would step-up my mockery of such topics and online quizes and actually make my own.

Of course, true to my nature, it is set in the 1830's.

So, let's find out: Democrat or Whig?

You are a Jacksonian Democrat. You claim to represent the common man and to oppose the interests of the wealthy elite. You're an expansionist as well.

Well duh. Hilarious though :goodjob:

apparently Im a whig. Of course I'm pro expansionism because Texas seceded from Mexico and we have the abilty to increase our landmass greatly if we stake our claim.

Democrat
25

Whig
65

Democrat 40
Whig 45

Although it says I should be a Whig, I figure that it's too close to really mark myself as such.

"You are a Whig. You represent the mercantile interests and believe in a strong federal government and a sound economic system. You take no issue with the government building roads or canals, as it aids the flow of commerce. You view expansionism with distrust."

I knew I would be. I hate Jackson with a fiery all-consuming passion. However, it says I view expansionism with distrust, when I voted for the acquisition of Cuba and Texas. A bit of a problem. That, and the newspaper question throws me a bit. I'm not familiar with either, and changing that reply shifts me to the opposite party.

Uh oh, since I didn't get that question either and just picked an answer for it at random.

Same for me; it even makes it 60 Democrat/25 Whig.

:hmm:

It calls me an expansionist even though I voted against buying Cuba. Short of that, it seems accurate

PS: I didn't know how to answer the newspaper question, so I chose "The Globe", simply because it is the name of a famous newspaper from Rio("O Globo").

Whig Life!

That's what I got. ...

I don't know a sodding thing about American history from that period. But if I got the same as luiz on ANY quiz with economic questions, I think it's screwed up somewhere...

(And I chose "The Globe" because it sounded international...)

Jacksonian Democrat.

Yes on veto, yes on road construction, annex Texas, no central bank, minimal tariffs, no term limits, federal power superior over states, no immigration limits, purchase Cuba, and the last one...I just voted for the National Intelligencer, though I don't know much about it.

The National Intelligencer was the Whig newspaper in Washington DC, the Globe was the Democratic newspaper there.

maybe you could eliminate that question? and make it so that even if you're generally a Whig, but vote for the annexation of Texas and Cuba, it calls you a Whig expansionist? (or Whigspansionist, if you're into combining words)

im a whig, although i dont know anything about these great political battles that ensued

The quiz software does not allow for anything quite that fancy, I'm afraid.
