Bug report for version 0.24:

I get a CtD if I try to start a game as the Mazatl, Clan of Embers, Ljosalfar, Khazad, Luichurp or Svartalfar.

EDIT: Well that sort of proves the rule. The non-human factions, except Scions, can't be chosen. Can they be encountered in game?

I second that. Only tried with Ji (Clan), though.
However, seeing the FfH Bug Thread, it may be a FfH 0.41c related bug.

Yep, after a bit of reading I noticed that my bug is caused by FFH, not Orbis, and that for some reason the non-human civs are AI only for the moment. Wonder what these civs have in common codewise?

Maybe the cause is DefaultRace tag?
Edit: Maybe not. I started a game with Malakim without problem even though they have a default race...

I think it is racial promotion.

Thanks for bug reports. Not something I was looking to, but it helps (and the bugs won't disapear on their good will).
Working on it now. I will probably roll back to 41b base today, especially as Kael did not post a source code for patch c and I am in the dark here...
That will fix racial thing (but I have an idea what the problem might be, so maybe there is a way to fix it on my side)

But first, I need to find where is adopting religions broken - that is my fault...

For adventurer giving gold - he has both hero and adventurer promotion, for total -150% upgrade cost :crazyeye:. So he is an earner
Not intended, but not sure if it needs fixing. Or maybe adventurer and hero should exclude each other (I think not).

Sorry for the trouble, hope to find a fix soon.

Maybe... It seems Elven and Orc are bugged. Nomad seems not.

Did he change the dll in 41c? If he did, it would have broken saves, no? Since the patch didn't (at least according to Kael), I guess there isn't a new dll. If there isn't, then there isn't new sources. But I may be all wrong :p I just thought any dll change would break saves...

I looked quickly in the DLL but didn't find anything...

Yes, he did. In fact dll changes are less likely to break saves than xml changes - unless they change tags, but that affects xml, too ;)
Also, do not look at the size of dll - it has a tendency not to change if the amount of code added/removed is not that big.

The bug with racial promotions is caused by Maniac fix I think. I will try Xienwolf version and it should be fine, or simply remove it for now.

Unfortunatelly, Kael is neglecting modder's guide and tools recently ;)

 I didn't know that! I will check now if my dll changes are really breaking saves...

Still hasn't found why religion are unadoptable.

Ok, got both.

Crash on start with non human civs is indeed caused by Maniac fix - fixed using Xienwolf's version

I forgot that one category of civics has to allow religion to be adopted... Fixed, I will post a patch later when I check some other things.
Unfortunatelly, the ability to adopt religion can not be gained in already started games :(

Too bad! Well, for my part, I just started one game so that's not really important.
I never knew religion was enabled by civics this way... Come to think of it, I never really touched civics. BTW, did you check the FF download thread? There's a nice screenie with their new civic screen. I like it and was thinking of porting it over (I know it's in Rise of Mankind).

Anyway, I will post more feedback later (I can't play right now, my friend wants me to play another game ) instead of bug reports ;)

Would backpatching to FFH patch b solve this, is this even possible?

Just checked: it doesn't work.

Maybe if you have it, did you have a patch that was compatible to b with these changes? Maybe post that, then worry about new patch once d comes out, since this is Kael's issue, not yours?

I have seen the civics screen in RoM already and I simply hate it. You have to scroll down if you want to check what are you currently running. True, more space for the descriptions, but most of the time you already know what the civic does, and if it is avaliable you can scroll the description in current one, too. Also, there is pedia ;)

I am waiting for feedback, but bugs have to come first.
Glad you like pirate port and other art, took me some time to put all the elements together. Hope my changes to Sidar and Kurios will be accepted as well.
Also, you reminded me that I forgot to change arrow tower art (uses art & button for engineering corps). Also, I did not find one yet...

That is not an issue. Reverting to b on your side does nothing, as orbis already overwrites most of FfH files (and some of BtS not changed by FfH, too).
I will post patch 24a today, just want to add a few things to it and maybe fix a bug or two. It is based on c, but as I do not have acces to dll changes, some of the fixes from 41c (including civics showing in tech screen) may not work. But most will.

@scuatrii
The crash is caused by AI, in Doviello city near Alcinus. When I changed all units in the city and the worker outside to AI_RESERVE, the game did not crash. I wish I know what is the reason of the problem. If anyone can help, HELP! ;)

Well, that's quite true. Didn't think of it this way... I remember pesting during a RoM game when I had to scroll down

I have fixed the religion bug myself so I can play a bit before you release patch a. BTW, which dll files will you change in patch a? I guess there will be few so knowing which ones would be great for merging :) (with a bit of luck, I won't have many to merge).

I didn't see those yet but I really like the fishing village. I can't wait to see it in game... The only issue is that I will have to remember that I can build them. It's not easy to think to build a workboat even when you don't have any sea resources nearby. I often forgot to do it with Lanuns...

What could be great is that ArrowTower+Walls would create a pretty fort all around the city with some towers :) I think I remember seeing a tower art somewhere...

Ah, I wondered about something: would state religion be enable by Humanism?

Ah, but descriptions aren't the reason. Actually I think that this method means LESS room for descriptions, though you can extend the box sizes to make more room if you really need to I suppose (before making Civ specific ones disappear we almost needed to already).

The point is to allow unlimited Civic Option categories, as now you don't have to contend with running off the right side of the screen for categories 6-99, or squishing everything down to squeeze in a 6th category and making it somewhat difficult to read.

It might be worth adding a top bar sometime which shows buttons only for each of your current Civics, and possibly some "mini-buttons" for the options available to you in that category at the time. Not sure I have the time at this moment to do that properly though :(

For now, CvUnit.cpp only

Ai has the same problem - need to find the code that makes it only build improvements on resource tiles...

No, decided to make it no state religion civic. Makes sense I think.
Still looking for the tower, a nice impressive one ;)

Hey, that was just my opinion, and for Orbis only ;) But I agree :) I do not like t, but it is a necessity if there are more than 7 categories. For up to 7, I prefer the current one. I think it was designed for 5-7 categories.

Orbis 24.a will be compatibel with FFH 41.d??
You may say that - patch A overwrites all files changed in 0.41 d
So, you need to install it using either 41 patch c or d

The patch 0.24 a is ready and linked in the first post (or just go here)

Should be playable this time (fingers crossed...)

TXT_KEY_UNIT_HOWITZER, um... that's what it is called in the 'Pedia (as such, you can't see 'em in the 'Pedia)
EDIT: Looking at the Mechanos in the 'Pedia, Verocchio is shown using Maer's thumbnail, and Maer is shown using Boris's thumbnail, however upon clicking it shows the correct leaderhead

what about this?
