Orbis Bug Thread (Old)

Speaking of the Pass.... I actually had a plan for that. It hinges on adding a 'leash' mechanic for barbarians, but I believe RoD already has that. :goodjob:
[/INDENT]

The most impressive achivement was that you got Rise of Darkness to work without all the bugs - any tips?

Do I mind sex change? No.
Look at elohim, they do it sometimes. All civs do during upgrades.
Do I mind racial changes? Yes. I try to get rid of these.
Do I mind non fitting art? Yes

So, I would like to change it. But I do not know of any I can use. If there is one in FfH/FF, then I forgot to change. Will take a look then.

I mind all three but that's me. (Especially since I tend to name my mages. *laughs*) The model used in FF2 for Svart archmages is "bainsheesi.nif". Now, it seems Orbis properly lists that in the XML file. (Also when you are playing svart and use the world builder, you get the right archmage model.) However, when upgrading normally in game it seems to use the model "greatprophet.nif". I haven't checked the files for upgrading yet but my guess is it points to the wrong spot.

However, all that said, I don't really care for the FF2 model. I think perhaps a version more on par with the Ljosalfar archmage (properly recolored and outfitted) would be a bit better. The Svart model just kind of glides about (well like the banshee the model seems named after). I've never done any model work with Civ IV before but it seems these meshes bring new definition to low poly. So in theory it wouldn't be much to make a new one. I may play around with it a bit. If I get anything interesting I'll post a pic here. Otherwise I guess it's best to default to the original FF2 model such as it is. :D

Any tips or suggestions on my disappearing scout problem? Anyone else experience this? My drivers are up to date, PC is quite new and all my other games (including Civ4) run without problems.

I'm not against sex changes but, for once, we have female units, so I'd like to keep them...

@gunnergoz: Did you try launching the game while holding shift to clear the cache? Or maybe you did something wrong during the installation?

@Ahwaric:

I'm not sure yet but, about Tolerant and unique yields, couldn't you hijack the function setting a plot's yields so that it uses the civilization type of the nearby city instead of the one of the player? Of course, if the plot can't be worked by a city, it would use the player civ type... It might be problematic if two cities with a different civ type can work a same plot.

Thanks for answering, Opera. Yes, I tried booting up the game with shift down to clear the cache...no help. The installation went normally, as did all updates. I have Vista 64 Home Ultimate, use admin status when launching the updates, which indicate they installed successfully. No other Civ4 games seem affected besides Orbis and Orbis worked fine before the update. Odd, huh?

Odd, indeed. Do you have No Animation or something in this flavor activated? If so, detick it. If not, I can only advise you to try to reinstall Orbis :(

Small bug here. Whenever I have a ranged attacker with "opererational range I" or whatever its called and I add him to a group of other ranged attackers it will let all of these ranged attackers fire at additional range even though they dont have the promotion to do so. This happens when I select them all in a stack and then use their ranged attack.

I'm not home to look but I'm pretty sure im on the latest patches for everything FFH2 and Orbis.

Thanks Opera, I'll probably do that next time before I try to play.

playing with the latest patch (H) and many of the Elhoim units are red blobs (scouts, hunters, immortals etc)!

Haven't noticed it with any other civ. Something wrong with my installation, or is it a bug? :(

I had the same problem. Terrain was also glitchy and purple. Just do a total re-install of FFH, Orbis, and their respective patches. That fixed it for me!

  • However, Avatar of the Wrath is still a big red blob for me...
  • I'm also going OOS immediatly upon gamelaunch.
  • Are there supposed to be "Orbis" MP maps or something? Or is it just Erebus and Erebus Continents?

Your install. You did not update your FfH to the last patch before installing orbis.

Will check that one

You are playing erebus/erebus continents then? I will probably add mp versions in next patch.
Other mapscripts should work, plus you can get Orbis MP and Orbis Continents MP both in LENA and in one of the threads here. I just do not remeber where... :(
The Grigori world spell is not working, the adventurer counter is not reset when you use it.
The spell works, adventurers simply have nothing to do with it. I will probably add some small bonus for them, but the idea is to make grigori less adventurer-centered.
You will get more great people now, and about the same amount of adventurers as in standard FfH.

You might want to tweak CvGameTxtMgr.cpp to show the defensive withdrawal. I was going to do it but I figured it might be a good idea to have it Orbis as well ;)

0.41 G. Bubos and Ars spawning error.

Not sure if this has been reported. I'm playing a high AC game. For both Bubos and Ars spawning, I got the error that says there is a mismatch in number of arguments. Sorry, no screensave so this is from memory. I think it was C++ expected exactly 3 arguments and got 2 (or maybe the converse). I'm pretty sure they never spawned on their own, so I added them in worldbuilder and played on. Yersinia and the Avatar spawned just fine. (I also tend to get a lot of memory allocation errors in high AC games, but not otherwise.)

Small bug, When you capture the last city of a civ, and they have a unit out in the wilderness who's carrying an artifact, the unit will disappear but drop the artifact which will remain owned by the defeated civ, preventing said civ from dropping off the board.

I have a major bug since the last Orbis patch... i can't discover Fellowship of the Leaves... I've got Mysticism and Tracking, but doesn't have this tech on my list when picking a tech I should research :/
