This is a great deal. I'm not sure if this is for all the games, but Vicky 1 and 2 are half off. Actually, There are 12 companies with complete packs that have their prices drastically reduced like 2K games but unlike 2k, all of Paradox's games are in this pack.

Itll be back next year, and year after..and year after that.

I have enough of a back catalog from last years sale that ive barely spent anything this year.

If my knackered PC would run the newer ones I'd definitely go for that. Its too bad I already picked up EU2 and Vic 1 a few weeks ago as well. Ah well.

I haven't actually fired up Vic 1 yet, but I've tried EU2. I really really suck at it. I've always wanted to get into these games, but I've no idea what I'm doing lol.

I've started several games as England and done miserably, although in my current one I have most of Scotland and a big chunk of France. I'm not sure if I'm getting better or if I was just lucky this time.

EU3, For the Glory, Victoria, Victoria 2, HoI series, Arsenal of Democracy, those are the only games worth buying from that bundle. And no, that bundle doesn't have every single Paradox game: IMO the best grand strategy game made by Paradox, Crusader Kings, is missing.

Since my computer is fried I have not been able to play EU3, and this was a month after I bought HttT:sad:
And have since been trying to get it to work on my older laptop, but to no effect since my graphics card is not good enough. So in order for me to get my EU fix I have been on the look out for older EU games and found For the Glory for 7£ on steam and bought it.

I have some problems "downgrading" my gaming experience since my introduction to th EU franchise have been EU 3 and the advise I have gotten from here. So It has been tough to adapt to this game which on one hand is the same game, but on the other hand many of the concepts in EU 3 have become so natural that I feel there is something wrong with this game(I suppose it is the same feeling that gets you when trying to play diablo 1 after having played diablo 2 for a long time or any other game where you play the first in the series after having tried the newest with all its improved parts)

Some of my biggest problems are the Casus Belli system, which is very hard to control, and in continuation of that most diplomatic options cost money. Although money are somewhat easier to come by it is still alot you can end up spending on warnings and guaranties. On the plus side you get to choose to bring in your allies in a war, this is awesome since you can initiate a war against some little OPM and not be afraid your alliance will break because of it.

Another problem I have had has been the war mechanics, my huge army have fleeing battles that it should not lose from enemies where we have had the same in morale because in this game geography seems to be a much more important feature than EU 3 and can seriously make or brake a campaign.

What is completely different is the way armies work: mixed armies seems much better than all cavalry armies and your the army only suffers attrition if it moves and dont get to it's destination before the end of the month. But the biggest difference is that you cannot reinforce armies. When they suffer attrition or losses they stay at that size until wiped out or disbanded. This makes maintaining a huge army an even bigger project than EU 3.

On the other hand I really like the fact that you get 5-6 different missions to choose from instead of EU 3 where you get one and have to cancel it or wait it out if it is impossible. But regarding the missions I have gotten used to that when I conquer a province, through missions, I usually get a core on it. No such thing in For the Glory, you get victory points instead, which ofcoarse are nice when you want to win the game, but on the other hand cores dont seem as important as they are in EU 3.

And advisors.....man have I been used to having diplomats reducing my BB, no such thing as that here. BB-reduction is directly related to your rulers' diplomatic skill although with full aristocracy he gets a permanent bonus to his diplo-skill.

In general I would recommend this game to anyone who cannot play EU 3 because of inferior hardware, but this is more historically-minded and not as open-ended as EU 3 regarding what you can do and might turn some people off.

Now that I have been rambling a bit, I would like to hear some of your tips and tricks as well as experiences with For the Glory.
