Paradox Interactive games

The idea is to simulate running a country in the Renaissance period. While you're only really cheating yourself if you use the console, it is blatantly not the point of the game to turn it all your colour or to develop 20th Century technology by 1650.

jepp, I know. A friend of mine is fan of EU3. But I have done it through cheating to get the whole world. I wanted to get whole world, so thats why I have done so. I played the game not in the way it should be played. On the cheating way

I played my last couple of EUIII games without cheats and am actually enjoying it just as much if not more because I'm not constantly entering in cheats to give myself colonists and stuff.

Though yeah it was fun to just try and conquer loads of land.

I'm sure it's very liberating, Scamp. My best friend has a "problem" with "additional help" in various games, notably EU III, EU: Rome and Saint's Row, so he's always stating that he didn't cheat! :)

the friend Im talking about has an entirely other character than me, he also enjoys to play EU3 online with friends he has there
but I constantly gave me money, colonists stuffs and made threats lower, stability up to be able to go on constant war against all to be able to conquer anybody, all AIs, not real players playing against I do
that was the fun I had in EU3

Well, if that's what you find fun, I guess you're easily pleased. What makes a game interesting for me is the challenge of the situation.

yeah, I generally dont like too many challenges in a game, and Im playing mostly on easy mode too if the game has different modes in it

I always wanna quick success and entertainment like an action movie you get fast pleasure in seeing action

The goal is to expand as much as you can, not just cheat your way through the game. I challenge any player of EUIII DW, conquer the Balkans with Bosnia, I tried and got Serbia, Dalmatia, Kosovo, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Some parts of Greece and then Austria and the Ottomans eliminated me

Before anyone asks, I do only play on Normal at most, as I'm not a good player of EU III in the slightest, but when it's so easy to cheat and games can be so long-lasting, I find it cheapens the whole experience in doing so.

yeah, but it takes long to get one stability up for example and to wait several years to get threat(that indicator, which makes neighbors attacking you all together if your aggression rates gets high due to overaggression in war) down I was not patient enough to do.

yeah, my friend asked me too, why I had found pleasure in cheating and winning over anybody, he found it bad and critizied me. And its I know not the real goal and way to play EU3. I just seeked fast pleasure like in game risk in a very simple way playing. Together with the game mechanics in menues and troop moving and producing I liked to do.

Well, with a 400 year timespan, five years is hardly anything at all! :)

I'm afraid I've cheated in most of the EU3 games I've played started.

The only legit ones were Castille and England. I still find it a lot of fun to play though :)

Playing those nations is kind of cheating in itself. :)

I've cheated a couple times in EU3 by reloading if a bunch of stuff goes really wrong for instance in a war - but I try not to and usually don't, but sometimes I just rage and reload. I have a feeling EU3 has done that to all of us at one point or another ;)

I don't understand the fascination of a world conquest, it doesn't appeal to me and is extremely ahistorical. Whenever I play I try to be reasonable and always try to have a reason to why I do things and take certain areas. I go so far as trying to make up reasons for the weird things the AI does particularly in unnatural expansion I always say "that country is just administering that land". Yes, I am indeed a nerd :p

My problem with conquering (or especially my habit of colonizing most of the americas) is that it simply becomes too much to deal with, especially since I would like to build every building in every region.

So HoI2 question again. Since I dropped my Argentina game due to not much to do, I tried with Italy and have actually turned the economy around and are gaining a respectable millitary and IC. I joined the Axis early and by the time the Germans invaded Poland WW2 started but because germany is being a dick in this game they have not made a single move against France, and are focusing everything on Poland. Instead I am desperatly holding my borders against most of the french army(hopefully this will make it easier for Germany when they finally decide to invade France):please:

In North Africa I am steamrolling the UK and are rapidly closing in on the Suez, while losing territory in Tunis to France. but what I can't figure out is, when will I have closed down the Suez? Are capturing port Said(the north african part) enough or do I have to cross to the Middle-eastern part as well?
Because I fear I might not have the naval might to challenge the royal navy, and if I have to have naval supremacy in those waters I might never get to close of the strait.

You need to take control of Suez, on the other side of the canal.

(you only need Suez, so if you had invaded from the Asian side you can actually close the canal without crossing over to the African side)

Or just click and highlight the Suez Canal (or any strait) and you can check which province you need to control to control it.

Thank you, I tried looking around on the HoI2 wiki but could not find anything. Well I guess its time to try some sneaky amphibious landings:D
