Paula Deen Innocent?

It certainly doesn't sound like you want to "treat everyone equally" at all. It sounds like just the opposite. Claiming that this incident has generated "insane" attention is simply trying to ignore the obvious and pretend it doesn't still exist.

The only way to stop racism is to confront and discuss it.

I think it is great if all people are seen as equal. It's not going to happen though by simply accusing one group and playing groups against each other. It can only happen (in my view) if the actual people themselves naturally tend to downplay any existent differences, as in cultural, monetary, intellectual, educational and other matters.

And judging from how things are currently going, i really doubt we will see such a utopia, and mostly think (sadly) that societies will face even more extreme polarisation and factions emerging at the local group level.

edit: removed reference to other posts..

His "actual views" are quite obvious from what he stated in these posts. To claim they aren't is either being intentionally disingenuous or shows a complete lack of understanding about the usual absurd rhetoric used whenever the topic of racism arises in this forum and elsewhere.

Couldn't handle handle the PR hit, doesn't deserve her old job back.

People have waaaaaaay over reacted to Paula Dean. Where is the zeal when it is the other way around?
The zeal aspect is not based in a rational framework of objection to racism in the abstract.

That entire movie was to make fun of racism!

Doesn't really matter I don't think. Both would have been hired to play a role per se. If that were so objectionable right off the bat, then don't take the job. And I humbly submit that in today's hyper-sensitive times that movie couldn't be made for the simple reason that even though it were indeed making fun of racism it would still be overly insulting to many.

i suspect Cleavon was in on the joke, i doubt these guys at Paula's party were laughing

and they weren't slaves in Blazing Saddles, they were RR workers

where are the white women at?

Excellent point! However, the word that must never be uttered was flagrant in its use in that movie.

But my point still stands that that movie wouldn't be made today. Too much political correctness out there.

Agreed 100%. But at the same time I agree with Machinegunkenny's point that minority celebrities seem to get a "free pass" on making racist comments, not only about whites, but other minorities as well. In my opinion, when it comes to tolerating racist comments and jokes it should be an all-or-nothing game. Either everyone is allowed to make racist comments and jokes or nobody is. To say group A can't make such comments but groups B, C, and D can is just plain unfair.

Poking fun at some whites is hardly racism.

It's funny. I can't even find this 50 cent radio ad that bigoted extremist places like Stormfront and Infowars are now whining so much about its overt racism. One website states it is more difficult to find than Bigfoot.

EDIT: I finally found it. This is supposed to be an example of "racism"?

Basing a joke on the actual race of someone is quite a failed joke to begin with, in my view. I don't mind such jokes since i view them as boring. I doubt most of them are actually sinister, but still it's a failed trope.

I didn't see Jango (the D is silent  ) but i suspect it is more of the same by QT, who (in my view) never produced a decent film. His topic is always violence, and the characters are always less than even 1-dimensional. :/
