Inherited turn (1574 AD): I took a tour through our cities and didn't see anything out of order. We could use a Prophet for a shrine in Rome, but the city most likely to pop Great Persons for the forseeable future is Sparta and it can't hire any priests. I'll try to change that in my turnset.
Turn 1 (1577 AD): Cumae trained a Grenadier, started a Canon(3). Pisae trained a Work Boat, started a Caravel(7). Kolhapur constructed a Forum, started a Lighthouse(5).
Most of our offensive force is between Wonsan and Smolnesk in the SE corner of this screen shot.
It will take 5 turns for our lead elements to get to Hannibal's closest town, Thapsus. It might make more strategic sense to move towards Utica because his capital is just beyond. But that would involve an epic journey of 9 turns. I decide to start heading towards Thapsus.
Our Jewish Missionary spread Judaism to Wonsan. Wang Kon gladly converted from Confucianism to Judaism. Well how about that? We have established a Jewish block! Who says we're lonely? Oh yeah, we do.
IBT: A Carthaginian Catapult and Trebuchet hit our stack just outside of Rostov. Both attacks were repulsed.
Turn 2 (1580 AD): Antium trained a Caravel, started a Forge. I sent the Caravel to Rome.
I moved our wounded stack in Russia to a hilltop where they can heal for a few turns.
Turn 3 (1583 AD): Rome trained a Caravel, started a Work Boat(1). Neapolis trained a Grenadier, started a Caravel(4).
IBT: A Carthaginian Grenadier attacked one of our Grenadiers that was escorting a Trebuchet but our Grenadier was victorious. The dead Grenadier left a Carthaginian Catapult unescorted.
Turn 4 (1586 AD): Rome trained a Work Boat, started a Caravel(4). There are now 4 Spanish Caravels snooping around our southern coast. Our Work Boat built fishing nets outside of Rome and two of our Caravels took up station on the nets. Cumae trained a Cannon, started a Rifleman(3). New Athens trained a Cannon, started a Rifleman(5). Corinth trained a Work Boat, started a Caravel. Seoul constructed a Theatre, started a Work Boat(5). P'yongyang trained a Caravel, started a Knight.
IBT: A Spanish Grenadier attacked our healing stack in Russia, killing one of our Knights.
Turn 5 (1589 AD): We encountered a sizeable Spanish force moving through Russia. I consolidated our forces on the hill to their North.
IBT: 3 Spanish Trebuchets and two Grenadiers attacked our force. We lost a single Grenadier.
Turn 6 (1592 AD): Our scientists reported:
I chose Astronomy(15) -- moving troops long distances cross-country is wrought with dangers. Galleons and Frigates will speed things up for us.
Kolhapur constructed a Lighthouse, started a Forge(18).
The situation in central Russia is getting interesting.
IBT: Cathange lost 2 Grenadiers and 2 Trebuchets attacking our stack while we lost a Rifleman and a Grenadier. Spain's larger force had disappeared for now.
Turn 7 (1595 AD): Cumae trained a Rifleman, started a Cannon(4). Neapolis trained a Caravel, started another(5).
IBT: Three Spanish Caravels attacked 2 of our Caravels that were guarding the whale boats outside of Neapolis. Two of them died, one of ours died. But we have a 4th caravel arriving from the west. We may have the upper hand here.
Turn 8 (1598 AD): Rome trained a Caravel, started a Cannon(5). Sparta trained a Cannon, started a Jewish Temple(6). Pisae trained a Caravel, started a Drydock(11).
Two Carthaginian Knights arrived outside of Lahore IBT. Our garrisoning Grenadiers killed both of them. Down south, a Spanish Conquistador arrived outside P'yongyang.
Russian workers had started building railroads. This would begin to speed up our troop movements but most of our troops in Russia have stalled while they heal.
Our wounded Caravel at Neapolis took a Combat I promotion, sank the wounded Spanish Caravel earning CombatII, then took up sentry duty again on the whale boats. The reinforcement Caravel stacked with it to provide protection against the lone remaining Spanish Caravel near Neapolis. We now have 2 at Neapolis and three Caravels at Rome.
Turn 9 (1601 AD): New Athens trained a Rifleman, started a Stable(2). Seoul trained a Work Boat, started a Drydock(15).
Turn 10 (1604 AD): We have finally approached the borders of Carthage and will be able to move to a Russian hill that is adjacent to Thapsus next turn; the bombardment can begin the turn after. There is a smaller straggler stack in central Russia that is healing on a hill. Cannon are moving into Russia to join the invasion force.
That Spanish Conquistador is still pillaging around P'yongyang. We'll need to get a Cavalry or Rifleman over there to end that threat. The city is training a Cavalry as we speak.
Finally, we have gained the upper hand along our southern coast. Only two Spanish Caravels are visible. One has bypassed our Caravels at Rome, the other is speeding west, presumably to disrupt our fishing industry at Seoul where 2 Triremes and a Caravel are guarding the nets. We have a Caravel shadowing him along the coast to help our odds when he gets to Seoul.
