PH06: One is the Loneliest Number!

GOD! I'm so furious.
I just typed my report and then my PC crashed, and lost the report. And my pc simply wouldn't boot again!
I finally managed to fix it (took me 4 hours for god's sake).
So, well, my report will be added soon :)

T1:

Select Rifling as our next tech

T3: Capture Lahore
A big Indian stack is heading towards Corinth, I make peace with Victoria/Osaka.
It's the best way to save us from losing some cities and getting everything running again.
T4: I start building Jewish Missionairies in Rome, Some cities don't have Judaism and it really helps the cities.
Also don't forget to send a missionary to the Korean city, if he converts it's even better.

Geuss what, nothing else happened for the rest of my turns.
I've sent a small stack to Korean city, as some Hannibal's units are circling around there.
We have a big stack in Lahore, might want to update it and reopen the war on Osaka, he isn't too strong.

Nice going, Furrie ~ i think the peace deal was the right move for now. If we can eliminate hannibal (or izzy), that will be good as I think that's more likely to happen.

Nothing much to report ... except that we play our part as Big Brother taking care of our little wang ... er ... little brother, and I am racing towards steel so a sto continue our mission on making a widow/widower out of the Vicky-Asoka couple.

We got rifling .... (why did we get this again and not steel???)

lone-AD1532-rifling.jpg

I switched research to steel ... getting it late in the next turnset (8 more turns to go).

1535 AD ... Izzy-Hannibal pair brings some forces to harass our wang ... I laughed at their attempt ... "You won't even get the wang aroused with that!"

lone-AD1535-forces.jpg

But I failed to noticed the upper left forces ... until the next turn ...

lone-AD1538-forces.jpg

Now, that certainly got me sending my blood to the wang ...er, beg your pardon, I mean sending help to Wang Kon.

To help the erection ... of Wang's defences, I sold him Chemistry quite very cheaply ...

lone-AD1538-gift.jpg

and teaches him that slavery is the best civic when you are down to one city.

He survived ... and got a great general out of it ...

lone-AD1544-aftermath.jpg

Noticed my :smoke: ... I was so intense in our wang that I failed to notice that Izzy can use Russian's roads to steal our worker ... That must have been why people used to say abt a man not thinking straight when he is focusing on his wang's activities ...

Anycase, wang's can't think. Look what he does with his general ...

lone-AD1547-attack.jpg

 Hwacha? How stupid can AI be?

Its time for me to attack, and by the end turns, Izzy-Hannibal's incursion is reduced to a single knight. We have also got ourselves a great general in the process ... (geez, what sort of name is Ivan the Terrible for a general?). The next player jolly well make a good demonstration to Wang on how to properly use a general.

lone-AD1550-general.jpg

We have got a gem pop ...

lone-AD1547-gems.jpg

and I Cathy gave me a quickie:

lone-AD1547-cathy-trade.jpg

Next player, please cancel the horse trade to cathy ... with rifling, she will be pumping out cossacks soon enough.

We are due for a great person soon in Rome. That's where out GP farm is, please built the National Epic there. I also noticed that we don't have the Jewish shrine ... that can't be right. So, I constructed temples in Rome, and please switch to priest specialists. We need a prophet -- the shrine income will nicely boost our economy.

Our seafood resources have been totally pillaged, so I am constructing caravels all over to boost our coastal guards. There should be at least 2 caravels per net. Only then should we attempt to build workboats to re-net our fishes and clams.

We should take peace whenever Izzy and Hannibal are willing to talk. They are, as of now, too far away. Instead, we should resume hitting on Aoska and Vicky.

NIce going, Fox ~ you've certainly got wang on the brain, no?

Should we attach that general to someone or settle him? personally, a Military Academy might help out in our main production city...Antium, is it?? Anybody else have thoughts?? Fox, what sort of force is left to go after Asoka?

Ach liebe himmel!!! Karr bleiben sie bitte....... Geez Xmas getting in the way..
Sorry to hear that Karr...

as long as someone's invading someone in this game, i'll be happy :yup:

Give me some apc's and maybe we can invade Carthage or Spain. You know that tidbit Sid gives us "never fight a land war in asia". Hey guys we're in Asia. I bought a map from our Wang and invading Carthage/Spain will take 10turns to get there and nothing to fall back on. We have to traverse through Russia, however did catch a combined army of Spain/Carthage and wiped them out with only losing one knight. (two small stacks) We can advance and have a nice little army in Russia ready to travel soon. Have played and posting later.

Turn 1

Look around and try to see what’s going on. I see we have a few guys hanging in Lahore and focus on building a few more troops. Now the question of course how do we attack Izzy as it appears she/and her partner are quite far away. Also notice that Rifling is out so decide to do this trade:

Civ4ScreenShot0173.jpg

Turn 2

There is one of Hannibal’s horses harassing poor Wang so with crappy odds we take him out. (68.1%). Wow Wang got an army and even a general hwacha? No need for us to worry about building an army. I am sure he will take it away with that General.

We also get a GG so I figure we should merge him in Cumae since the HE is there and it will give us the extra points also now for other warriors than knights.

Civ4ScreenShot0174.jpg

Now the plan was to go to representation as I see we have specialist making donuts. But there’s only one woman that’s in the way. Isabella will settle for peace but wants $450 for it and the lonely guys need it for Christmas shopping. So start moving troops towards her lands maybe they’ll get there by the end of Pholk’s turn. I decide not to go to representation for the reason we are at war and feel we need to give Isabella or her partner a bloody nose.

Turn 3

WTH!!!!! Argh Isabella is messing with our fishies outside of Rome. She’s got like three caravels there and we are in the process of building some. Oh goodie for the time being I’ll get someone to toss rocks at them from the shore.

New Athens starts another rifle. (this city is also good for building units)

Seoul starts a work boat. Where have all the fishies gone? (no Alaskan Crab dinner)

Merge GG with Cumae and hope that’s good since we got General Elephant who is a super healer now.

We also pop a GS and after looking around at many cities see that New Athens has the best science and lacking an academy. Send the GS there to build the academy.

Civ4ScreenShot0175.jpg

Turn 4

Sparta starts a JM for Wang to make him Jewish.

Turn 5

We now are starting to get a small army together in Catherine’s border and will start heading west. (freakin pangea argh!!! Got to travel so far to get to Isabella – no wonder it’s been quiet it’s taking that long to get them here.)

Turn 6

zzzzzzzzz

Turn 7

Corinth starts a workboat (after finishing a caravel)
Pyong starts a caravel

We also move a caravel towards Rome and Izzy’s take it out.
Note to oneself and team get at least 3 caravels together for Rome before attempting to protect it.

Turn 8

We stumble on Isabellas/Hannibal’s army. We move to a defensive position and one gren gets stuck on his own on a hill. Of course that’s the first thing they attack is the lone grenadier but he prevails and kills conquistador. He’s not so lucky with the second one. We do finish the second off and notice their troops are heading for Wang’s only city with the amazing Great General. Fortunately we have some troops moving through that area looking to hook up with out army.

Turn 9

We discover steel and now can build cannons. Decide having cavalry would be nice too so start on MT.
New Athens/Sparta starts a cannon.

Our lucky knight and General Beast take out one soldier after another with not the greatest odds leaving a few trebuchet which a few more knights finish off. The grennies get in the act and take out the musketman there. We loose one knight but Isabella lost 5 conquistadors/1 gren/1 musketman/3 trebs. She still has a grenadier/treb hanging west of our position. Also we need a map who the heck goes trying to go after an enemy without being able to see the way.

Turn 10

The first thing I do is buy a map from Wang and hope he’s got more than we. Sure enough he’s got lots and we can see much better where we need to head for an attack which is like New York – LA in distance. I don’t like having an army stuck out in the field that can’t be reinforced. The army is almost ready to go. (General Beast needed like 20 bags of peanuts since he got injured taking out that conquistador)

Once at the troops gather we will have more than enough to do some damage if we choose to go after Izzy. I say we raze that city of Hannibals and maybe they will change their tune. I would even try to raze a few of them but we might come across more of their troops on the way there.

We also make this deal with Hatty since I tried to up her deal earlier on, but the 5 bucks disappeared. I swore I saw her hide it in her bra but now she got no money and should have 10 bucks to spend??? So now she finished shopping and has 11 bucks so gimme already.

I'm up! I'll try my hand at getting an army into Spain and fighting a long distance war. I think Astronomy might be needed to speed up our troop movements? And to take care of those annoying marauding caravels outside of Rome.

Inherited turn (1574 AD): I took a tour through our cities and didn't see anything out of order. We could use a Prophet for a shrine in Rome, but the city most likely to pop Great Persons for the forseeable future is Sparta and it can't hire any priests. I'll try to change that in my turnset.

Turn 1 (1577 AD): Cumae trained a Grenadier, started a Canon(3). Pisae trained a Work Boat, started a Caravel(7). Kolhapur constructed a Forum, started a Lighthouse(5).

Most of our offensive force is between Wonsan and Smolnesk in the SE corner of this screen shot.
one31.jpg

It will take 5 turns for our lead elements to get to Hannibal's closest town, Thapsus. It might make more strategic sense to move towards Utica because his capital is just beyond. But that would involve an epic journey of 9 turns. I decide to start heading towards Thapsus.

Our Jewish Missionary spread Judaism to Wonsan. Wang Kon gladly converted from Confucianism to Judaism. Well how about that? We have established a Jewish block! Who says we're lonely? Oh yeah, we do.

IBT: A Carthaginian Catapult and Trebuchet hit our stack just outside of Rostov. Both attacks were repulsed.

Turn 2 (1580 AD): Antium trained a Caravel, started a Forge. I sent the Caravel to Rome.
I moved our wounded stack in Russia to a hilltop where they can heal for a few turns.

Turn 3 (1583 AD): Rome trained a Caravel, started a Work Boat(1). Neapolis trained a Grenadier, started a Caravel(4).

IBT: A Carthaginian Grenadier attacked one of our Grenadiers that was escorting a Trebuchet but our Grenadier was victorious. The dead Grenadier left a Carthaginian Catapult unescorted.

Turn 4 (1586 AD): Rome trained a Work Boat, started a Caravel(4). There are now 4 Spanish Caravels snooping around our southern coast. Our Work Boat built fishing nets outside of Rome and two of our Caravels took up station on the nets. Cumae trained a Cannon, started a Rifleman(3). New Athens trained a Cannon, started a Rifleman(5). Corinth trained a Work Boat, started a Caravel. Seoul constructed a Theatre, started a Work Boat(5). P'yongyang trained a Caravel, started a Knight.

IBT: A Spanish Grenadier attacked our healing stack in Russia, killing one of our Knights.

Turn 5 (1589 AD): We encountered a sizeable Spanish force moving through Russia. I consolidated our forces on the hill to their North.
one32.jpg

IBT: 3 Spanish Trebuchets and two Grenadiers attacked our force. We lost a single Grenadier.

Turn 6 (1592 AD): Our scientists reported:
one34.jpg

I chose Astronomy(15) -- moving troops long distances cross-country is wrought with dangers. Galleons and Frigates will speed things up for us.

Kolhapur constructed a Lighthouse, started a Forge(18).

The situation in central Russia is getting interesting.
one33.jpg

IBT: Cathange lost 2 Grenadiers and 2 Trebuchets attacking our stack while we lost a Rifleman and a Grenadier. Spain's larger force had disappeared for now.

Turn 7 (1595 AD): Cumae trained a Rifleman, started a Cannon(4). Neapolis trained a Caravel, started another(5).

IBT: Three Spanish Caravels attacked 2 of our Caravels that were guarding the whale boats outside of Neapolis. Two of them died, one of ours died. But we have a 4th caravel arriving from the west. We may have the upper hand here.

Turn 8 (1598 AD): Rome trained a Caravel, started a Cannon(5). Sparta trained a Cannon, started a Jewish Temple(6). Pisae trained a Caravel, started a Drydock(11).

Two Carthaginian Knights arrived outside of Lahore IBT. Our garrisoning Grenadiers killed both of them. Down south, a Spanish Conquistador arrived outside P'yongyang.

Russian workers had started building railroads. This would begin to speed up our troop movements but most of our troops in Russia have stalled while they heal.

Our wounded Caravel at Neapolis took a Combat I promotion, sank the wounded Spanish Caravel earning CombatII, then took up sentry duty again on the whale boats. The reinforcement Caravel stacked with it to provide protection against the lone remaining Spanish Caravel near Neapolis. We now have 2 at Neapolis and three Caravels at Rome.

Turn 9 (1601 AD): New Athens trained a Rifleman, started a Stable(2). Seoul trained a Work Boat, started a Drydock(15).

Turn 10 (1604 AD): We have finally approached the borders of Carthage and will be able to move to a Russian hill that is adjacent to Thapsus next turn; the bombardment can begin the turn after. There is a smaller straggler stack in central Russia that is healing on a hill. Cannon are moving into Russia to join the invasion force.

That Spanish Conquistador is still pillaging around P'yongyang. We'll need to get a Cavalry or Rifleman over there to end that threat. The city is training a Cavalry as we speak.

Finally, we have gained the upper hand along our southern coast. Only two Spanish Caravels are visible. One has bypassed our Caravels at Rome, the other is speeding west, presumably to disrupt our fishing industry at Seoul where 2 Triremes and a Caravel are guarding the nets. We have a Caravel shadowing him along the coast to help our odds when he gets to Seoul.

Here's The Save: His_Loneliness_AD-1604.CivWarlordsSave Have fun!
