Some of us have been throwing around a really revolting idea
1) 470BC
I notice Hatty has Alphabet and will trade it for Aesthetics & Sailing. That would have been helpful to have seen, say, before I played.
2) 455BC
Settle Atlan... er, Hotlan... er, Coldlanta! Get it? It's built near tundra!
Research goes to 20% to stay in the black, but our representatives in congress are keeping the fat cat scientists warm with their gold-plated bunsen burners! That really didn't make sense, did it?
3) 440BC
Just what is soaking up all that money, anyway?
2 ways to look at this: one is we need to cut costs, another is we need to increase cash-flow.
4) 425BC
Polytheism is in da' house! Now I research... um...
I can tell how rusty I am -- 2 things that I should have caught before the turnset and brought up to the team I am just noticing now:
#1 - Great Person going to be born in 6 turns in Washington (100% GS) or 7 turns (probably gonna be ~50/50 GS/GE). What do we do with them?
#2 - Hatty has Alphabet! (Didn't I already say this?) She will trade it for Aesthetics + Polytheism/Sailing.
So I re-read (e.g. skimmed) the thread to try to find what other people had put down in writing. Parthenon was put down to emphasize our SE - and that seems like a good idea. Did I find any answers to my questions? No! But I did find one of us (
) said that it would be foolish to go for the Oracle about 4 turnsets ago, and look! The Oracle still hasn't been built, even at the end of my turnset! I think the AIs are wonderphobes this game.
Back on track!
#1 - let's go for the element of chance! GE or GS? Who knows! So we're going to fire those scientists in Washington temporarily. I'll re-hire them in 2 turns, but now New York will have the first Great Person born. Will it be a boy or a girl? This proud parent doesn't want to see the ultrasound!
#2 - Let's make a trade! We know we're going to go after Hatty eventually, right? And if she builds us some tasty wonders in the meantime then so much the better!
Having Alphabet, we can now see what Qin has:
Why won't Qin trade Math?
He might as well be telling us "Pssst! We're building some really cool gardens over here!" Wink wink, nudge nudge.
I end up this marathon-paced turn by putting our research to Currency!
I hit enter and wonder if I single-handedly ruined managed to ruin the game!
IT -
Hatty offers to trade Polytheism for Archery.
"No baby, I said I'D call YOU!"
(P.S. This might have been funnier if I would have remembered to paste the picture after copying it.)
5) 410BC
Hatty now has Priesthood
6) 395BC
Washington's got cabin fever
I got the infamous Crash to Desktop bug from opening the log! Who's using BUG? Why aren't I?
Reloading from auto-save...
I re-hire the scientists in Washington. This drops Currency down to 13 turns (from 19). New York due to birth in 5 turns, Washington in 6. (Well, really 31 because New York will birth first and Washington will realize it can't have a Great Person too, because everybody will think they just had a GP just cause New York was doing it!)
9) 350BC
New York finishes Lighthouse.
Meanwhile, in Coldlanta...
Hatty built another nearby city, as you can also see.
10) 335BC
Overflow from Coldlanta's monument went into a granary. If we build a WB directly after it will be finished 2 turns before borders pop, which is as close to optimal as we're going to get here.
Going to wrap things up here.
Our new baby will be born next turn in New York! Will it be a boy or a girl?
But if we're still a little shy to the idea of getting a GE first, we can still abort the scientists and let Washington give us a child from it's purer SE pool.
Oh, hey! Our galley's been playing around up north, too! I think we have some room for more cities.
The world we know
