PLXNES5 - And you thought it was dead...

The posted update is scheduled for Friday, but I have it mostly done. Saying Friday will give me a bit of wriggle room. ;)

I'm really sorry for the delay, but the past week has been a little hectic for me. The update will be excellent, I assure you all.

UPDATE 1 - 2330 KC

OOC: Several notes on rules and the world in general:
-There is no long distance trade yet. There hasn't been any significant exploration to other continents yet - you do not have contact, let alone trade with most nations in far away continents.
-You must pay for fortifications, as it is included within the defense stat.
-There are no UUs in this game. I find them to be pointless, feel free to create unofficial UUs, but they will not be reflected in the stats.

WALES

Cardiff, Wales - King Josef was proclaimed the Grand Druid of Cràbhach by the High Druid of Wales. This has caused a schism within the mighty Celtic religion. Cràbhach Cymru, as it is being called by the rest of the Celtic world (often preceded with "that most blasphemous abomination"), is now the largest non-mainstream sect of Cràbhach. The Celtic world was so angered by the audacity of the Welsh King, that it has prompted King Josef of Wales to mobilize his armies.

TIAHUANACU

The Tiahuanacu expand to the South, further into the Andes.

CAHUILLA

The Cahuilla, in an unending quest for resources and the dominance of the Western Coast, launched a large campaign on conquering the Sierra Nevada, once and for all. But their approach may have been far too bold, losing five thousand troops to the cold and unforgiving terrain, coupled with raids by the barbaric peoples of the great mountains, none too happy to see their lands being settled by the Cahuillians.

SINHALA

The Sinhalese crown built up their mainland with great road projects and educated the long neglected peoples of the mainland though establishing universities in some of the major cities.

ANTAFAN

The Antafanis grew their powerful trade alliance with Lisboa by building a number of roads from the Port of Calpe at the gate of the Mediterranean North to the Lisboan border.

LISBOA

Archduke Aurelian, Lisboa's new leader, concentrated on brokering a major trade deal between the Carneiric Island's premiere power, Wales, and the nations of the Mediterranean.

KWANGJU

Prince Fei Wan grew the Kwangjese Naval forces by 20% in the space of a few short years, now making them one of the more feared powers in North East Asia.

AYR

The peoples of Ayr concentrated on their enormous potential for trade by... trading.

COSSACKIA

Ataman Ermak moved the capital of the Cossack Confederacy to the city of Uralgrad, despite protests from many prominent chieftains about the decentralized location of the new capital.

TUPI

The Tupi readily expand their army. For what purpose remains unclear with her neighbors and allies.

FERRARA

The Ferraran King forged a grand alliance of Latin powers. Called "Il Unione di Dogana", it is now the most prominent alliance in the Mediterranean Sea.

SIANUG

After being approved by the Sianese government, the merchants of Sianug have settled the coasts of Australia and Mozambique, much to the distress of the Zanzibari and Udiallan peoples.

SELEUCIA

Soldiers of the Seleucian Army marched in formation with amazing professionalism, weilding the finest Arabian muskets money can buy.

TEKKE

The government of Tekke has imposed a "fair" tax on trade to and from the Black and Mediterranean Seas. Merchants of nations of the Black Sea and Aegean have protested, and several governments are preparing for action, diplomatic and otherwise.

IRKUTSK

Daniel Khan, the newly chosen leader of the Irkutskian peoples, has pushed for the concept of a larger and stronger military, along with reforming the infrastructure and roads systems of Buryatia.

MITANNI

Mitannese fleets commanded respect from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Red Sea, to the Gulf of Aden to the Indian Ocean.

SOLOMONIA

Attempting to reach the Nile River, five thousand troops died in the sweltering heat of the Ethiopian Plateau.

DELAWARE

The Lenape begin trade with the Miami... and stuff.

GREENLAND

In a failed attempt to colonize Baffin Island and contact the rest of the civilized world, Greenland lost four frigates and one Ship-of-the-Line.

UDIALLA

The Port of Karratha. There it was, Sianug Imperialism in the flesh.

SICILY

The Sicilians expand their cavalry forces, along with their naval and merchant fleets.

WAR OF LUNSARAN AGGRESSION

The forces of Lunsar mounted on the Kasamance border, prepared to overwhelm the pitiful Kasamancan forces. Things were not so easy, while the forces of Kasamance are less than two thirds what they were in 2325, though Lunsaran losses matched those of Kasamance, standing at a staggering twenty thousand infantry. Lunsaran moral remains high, as the coasts of Kasamance are ravaged by the armies and navies of Lunsar.

ISTHMUS WAR

Access to both the Western and Carib seas is indeed a position of power that has been fought over for centuries. What had once been firmly under the control of Carib powers, was now under the control of Mayans. Chibcha and Arawak signed a pact of agression against the Kuna, who held the narrowest point between the Western and Carib seas, which was countered by Achi involvement, allying themselves with the outnumbered Kuna. The naval war that ensued was what could only be described as epic, with the largest battle taking place in the Mosquito Coast, the planned Arawak landing site. This battle involved nearly thirty Caribbean ships and thirty five Mayan. However, the battle was won when the Achi admiralty ordered a retreat, the ensuing confusion resulted in more than half of all sunk Achi and Kuna ships, the Arawak landed unhindered and expanded along the coast, planning to split the Kuna in two. While the Chibchan infantry concentrated on the bitterly defended Southern Kuna border. with more than thirty thousand combined casualties in the three year campaign.

WAR OF BENGALESE AGGRESSION

Bengal had secured the Lhasan forces early on, promising the riches and power that would come with owning coastal land, having a navy. Bengal's attack was motivated partly by economic factors and partly due to a long standing ethnic feud between the Bengali people and the ethnic Burmese population that made up the bulk of the Mandalayan population. Bengal quickly assumed control of the seas, and the front lines are mere miles from Rangoon.

OOC: I hope that was worth the wait... I know the quality isn't where I'd like it to be, but first updates never are.

cool, though I a bit saddend at the prospects of no UUs :(

To: The Sianug
From: Udalia

We do not understand what part of 'we will burn your cities to the ground' you did not understand. We are not barbarians, and to demonstrate this we will renumerate any private company whose goods are damaged when we destroy the settlements. We will not be killing civillians, only burning buildings and shooting official representatives of the rouge Sianug state. This is not war, this is police action and an enforcement of valid laws.

-

Orders later... but rest assured that they will include invasion of the Sianug colonies on the free and independent land of Australia.

QUestion

when is the next update?

I don't have enough instrest in this, so I've got to quit. Sorry

First off, the Khan presents a grand banner, that shall wave above our armies and lead them to glorious victory!

Spoiler TOP SECRET Message to Kwangju :

To: Kwangju
From: Irkutsk

Dear friends. We can't help but notice how Shangdong is intruding upon the Korean peninsula, land that is rightfully yours. We know you must take little comfort in the fact that a large and belligerent army is but a few mere days of marching from your grand capital. We believe you should get some breathing room. Take back what can only be legitimately called Kwangju land. Ally with us against Shangdong, for the glory of our many Shinto deities!

To: Kwangju
From: Irkutsk

Spoiler :

We are afraid that is neither possible nor desirable. Our goal is to gain a warmwater port on the sea. Your suggestion would eliminate our very reason for the war. Come on. All we want is some coastal land. Surely such a great nation as Kwangju can afford such a small compromise.

To the other members of our relgion
From Cahullia

We would like to form a relgious congress and also would like your suggestions for a place that this could be held outside Cahullia. Under this congress all powers will agree to work together for the continued growth and strength of our relations.

to Udalia
1 city is all wanted... a trade point. If you attack we will destory you.

to Zanzibar:
See? wasn't that hard. Thanks to this city we would be able to trade much better among us.

To: Sianug
From: Zanzibar

Where exactly did you get the impression that we approve of this "trading post"? In fact, if the post is not turned over to the Zanzibari people, it will be forcefully annexed.

This will not be an attack, an attack is offensive military action, this will be an enforcement of Udalian authority. We are not barbarians. We invite you to try to invade.
