Yeah, police brutality is an issue.

They're not brutal enough.

I agree. Criminals can really "get away with murder" with regards to the amount of trouble they can put an officer in, for even completely fabricated "brutality".

Most of what is deemed brutality, in reality isn't. Now what the Gestapo did was brutal.

All comparisons to an absurdly low standard aside, I think you are confusing "criminal" with "suspect." I also think that when it comes to joe the citizen vs. joe the police officer in a brutality issue, (here in the US at least) the deck is heavily stacked against the citizen, unless there is overwhelming evidence against the cop, such as a video. And even then that isn't enough sometimes.

Cops, frankly, have a lot of leeway to beat the crap out of you as it is.

I personally think cops should be paid more, work less crazy hours, but at the same time held to a far, far higher standard than they currently are. I think a lot of issues can be resolved by better oversight in the form of early warning signs for overly aggressive/incompetent officers, lowering stress, doing more outreach and community policing, walking beats instead of driving, and training cops out of the "us vs. them mentality" that too often only makes situations worse instead of diffusing them.

Here in the UK we have the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The idea is that any complaints against the police go through them (rather than the police) so you get a fair say. So given the situation in the OP, a policeman who did that would probably be fired.

why is that law there, Mowque ? answer that, then realize your tax dollars are feeding pigs.

I've Asked why people think Marijuana is bad, they said: It's illegal. i ask, why is it illegal? Not one person has come up with a legitamite answer.

So, whenever someone gets charged for holding a peice of plant, thats an act of brutality because that person doesn't deserve the charge or fine

pig- one who consumes, but doesn't contribute

on cops, a guy got a 2000$ fine for possesing 1 gram.

You dont seem to understand how the Criminal Justice system works. First off, write your legislator. Crying about cops busting you/others for pot ising going to do anything. They dont make the laws, they uphold them. And from your previous post, even when the cop let you off you still complain.

Second that guy you speak of didnt get the $2000 fine from the cops, but from the courts.

The cop upholds the law and the system does the rest.

on cops, a guy got a 2000$ fine for possesing 1 gram. (from Warhead's quote)
I just can't believe that's true!

Hmm, i wonder if it might go towards a new cop car. Less for my taxes

Which is why you should always carry your stash in a quick seal envelope with the words "For the attention of the Police" written on it in big letters. You were just on your way to hand it in.

Doesn't it seem a little exaggerated to charge so much money for one gramm? It clearly was just dedicated for private use.

So? the law makes no difference between the two.

It doesn't? Sorry, didn't know that, but at least in Germany it does. They give you charges according to the amount of weed in your possesion. If it exceeds some limitation it is not considered anymore for private use only, but for an even more illegal distributing and selling, meaning higher charges.

I've only ever been stopped once, and was by an MP on a military base and she was totally professional during the entire encounter. I'll even go out on a limb and say most police officers are that way and only in the business to do their duty and help protect people.
However I've seen cop shows on TV, I've listened to the attitude of the Sheriff I took my ADAP class from, and I've seen the videos on the internet. I do not trust police officers in general and I am always careful to keep my distance when possible. I believe many of them have forgotten innocent until proven guilty, and that many of them use their position of power to be pricks. So I think we have way too many police officers and I think we need to actually start severely punishing police brutality.
The part that pisses me off is that if an Officer strikes me or beats I am legally not allowed to do anything but curl up in a fetal position. Legally I should be able to protect myself from assault, and I will protect myself from assault regardless of who is beating me.
*** tha' police.

I'm approached by a policeman at least once a month. Probably because I always wear a hood while walking home, even when it's dead hot. The funny thing is that I'm a nerd who wears glasses, and half of them just stop at the sidewalk and drive away once they see them .

Police brutality isn't an issue in Ireland. Like most police however, the majority are idiots. Now it may seems a bit of a generalisation, but because Ireland is so small they are all trained in the same place and as such come out of training with the same mentality.

I really think this thread was made as a rage against cops for taking weed? You can't blame them for doing their job - however crazy fines like $2000 seems way too much.

I've never had a problem. I'm polite and I use common sense, obey the law, stop immediately, turn that #$%^ off, shut the ^&*^* up, never drive with a mad woman, and I'm white so I don't need a white friend.

I'm pretty sure it does. Dealing gets prosecuted more harshly than using, AFAIK.

yeah, anything under an ounce is considered "private" use. over an ounce they assume you have intent to sell, which makes you a felon I think.
but yeah about the cops, I probably wouldnt hate them so much if most of them werent just high school bullies who wanted to continue to harass people. also, I wouldnt mind cops if weed was legalized either, they could get back to looking for people who harm society instead of victimizing harmless potheads.

If you're white, just be polite. If you're brown, get on the ground. If you're Black, hands behind your back. If you're red, you might end up dead.

Eh..how many times can Asians come into contact with cops anyway..
