I discovered ISideWith long ago, but yeah, without knowing my percentage off the top of my head, I'm Sanders with Clinton at a distant second.

Bernie Sanders 97%
Hilary Clinton 95%

...on social, immigration, environmental, foreign, domestic, economic, criminal justice, science, and electoral policies. According to this test. (The 2% difference is in healthcare policy.)

So this test doesn't seem to separate Sanders from Clinton on economic or foreign policy, which seem to feature in the debates about them, if not the debates between them.

The test's interpretations of the politicians' stances on issues is a little suspect. For instance, they say Jeb Bush favors the legalization of marijuana. However, the Republican debate they cite as evidence doesn't seem to say anything of the kind. He says that he thinks legalization should be up to the States to decide, and that he favors drug treatment programs and drug courts. He says he voted against a medical marijuana bill because of a "huge loophole" that he doesn't describe. To say that he favors legalization is not just lacking in nuance, it seems like a total misunderstanding of his position to me.

Here's another head-scratcher:

Should the U.S. expand offshore oil drilling?
Ted Cruz: Yes
Your similar answer: Incentivize the private sector to develop alternative forms of energy

How the [bleep] is providing incentives to develop alternative energy "similar" to expanding offshore oil drilling?

They definitely changed the isidewith test since the last time I took it. I think my strongest agreement with any candidate was something like 39% back then. I guess I probably gave more custom answers then though, and did not bother specifying if I cared more on less on as many issues, which gave them less to work with.

I guess they also dropped the candidates who suspended their campaigns, as I'm definitely closer to Rand than Cruz.

"Should the U.S. maintain a presence at the United Nations ?"
"Should the U.S. prevent Russia from conducting airstrikes in Syria? "

Oh America, what nutty questions your political quizzes have.

Anyway, the first two were as expected.
96% Bernie Sanders
91% Hillary Clinton

41% Chris Christie for some reason, then Kasich (34), Trump(33), Jeb!(30),Cruz (19), Carson (16).

Parties
96% Democrat
93% Green
89% Socialist
51% Libertarian
13% Republican

I would have expected to be closer to the Socialist party that to Democrats. I have some liberal leanings, but I'm mostly a pretty left-wing social democrat.
I think I got most points with Republicans because I support US ground troops against ISIS (mostly because ISIS is America's fault and responsibility) and have a similar stance on immigration as Jeb!.

We've hit 1000 posts, should we keep this thread or make a new one?

On the isidewith poll I got Ted Cruz as my number one match at 81% and Hillary as my lowest with 37%. Buuuuut, I think the results were a bit skewed due to me not really paying much attention to the "how important is this to me" sliders. When I looked at the results more closely, the stuff I disagreed with Cruz on was more important to me than the stuff that I agreed with him on, so maybe not a greatly accurate result.

Plus, even if my agreement with him is high, he seems like a weasel who changes his positions based on political expedience so I can't trust that he really believes any of the stuff I agree with him on.

That's not surprising. Their differences are small and nuanced compared to the Republican candidates.
This statement is pretty surprising, coming for you... unless you're saying that the gap in your affinity for Hillary vis-a-vis Bernie is mostly good ol' fashioned arbitrary personal dislike.

Onejay's love for Hillary is so pronounced that he insists that she is left-wing, even by US standards. It's almost certainly personal!

I got a 98% for Bernie and 92% for Hillary. I got rated as Left-Wing and 96% Democrat. My Republican rating was 18% LOLs... But I did get 43% for Christie and Bush. Everyone else was in the 20s or less. One thing that was interesting was that alot of the stuff I "disagree" with Hillary on (or that they don't have a position for her on) were things I rated as "important" whereas the disagreements I had with Bernie were all stuff I don't care that much about.

"Should victims of gun violence be allowed to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers?" My answer: Yes / MOST IMPORTANT ... Fav question on the test by far (given recent discussions on thie forum)

The world's moved so far to the left in the past decade that the new CFC conservatives are in the lower left quadrant.
