Is it weird that I routinely carry amounts in excess of 100$ around with me?
Thought of a question on this topic earlier today: how much would you have to withdraw to bankrupt the ATM machine? Obviously they can't have an infinite amount of money, but they must have a good amount.
I would use a credit card if I had one because it would be nice to have the thing now and still get just a touch more interest on the money before forking it over.
That's a confusing bit. Do you mean you'd keep the money in a savings account then pay off the credit card within the grace period?
If I buy something on the 1st (for the sake of argument) of the month, I would have three options:
(1) Pay cash. I'm out $200.
(2) Pay debit. I'm out $200.
(3) Use credit. Pay $200 at the end of the month. I have earned $1 interest on that, and I've had my item for a month.
So I'm up a dollar.
Okay, not realistic numbers, but it illustrates what I mean.
Minus the cost of the stamp and check to send to the credit card company and you are only saving a few pennies, if that. But if you send the payment just a little too late, then you are out $40 for the late fee.
