The US keeps a lot of troops stationed in the US, not just doctors. Familiarize yourself with a concept called troop rotation.

Troop rotation is to prevent fatigue caused by harsh living conditions. Doctors don't have that problem.

However, I heard that officers in the US military are moved around a lot... so a doctor may previously have been a warrior... or a paper pusher... and basically lacks med.school training. I dunno how true that is. Source: Military personel.

Those guys in the Iraqi insurgency are so horny theyre almost crazy, thats why theyre such fierce fighters. Troop rotation is also to prevent morale loss caused by family separation.

I'm a military personnel source that says doctors are not among the officers that have greatly varying job assignments (generally within broad specialties), and they do indeed go to medical school.
