Pornography VS Fashion Magazines

Just one comment on this: I hate fake boobs, it's totally disgusting :vomit: I don't understand the American obsession with large breasts.

Model's are not homely beautiful. Rather they are almost alien beauty. Their skinniness is not attractive in home but is for pictures of an "alien landscape"

I think there's just a false perception of the perception of desired skinniness. For all the talk of models giving a bad image and pushing people toward anorexia the average woman's girth continues getting larger. So it must not be terribly damaging.

A woman pointed out this difference to me long ago when she commented that most women in Penthouse and Playboy Magazines weren't really all that attractive. That they typically needed a radical amount of airbrushing and out-of-focus shots to even make them reasonably so.

Then, there is the issue of "artificial augmentation". You won't find many fashion models who have had elective surgery of any sort, much less a boob job.

In other words, men look at porn stars for a different reason than women look at models. One is fantasizing over the ideal sex partner while the other is fantasizing what it would be like to be so beautiful.

True.

Fine so long as they realise that often they are making themselves less attractive to men by making themselves more attractive to women.

It is fairly common for thin women - even fit athletic ones - to be so thin their menstruation is messed up to some extent. There is an evolutionary reason men tend to be sexually attracted to women with a body-fat % conducive to maximum fertility. Lots of women simply dont see such a body shape as attractive, but thats exactly the same health issue their grandma's see when they fuss over them needing to eat more.

Or vice versa. They know full well how to make themselves "more attractive" to men by having boob jobs and dieting all the time while pretending they are dumber than any male. But they deliberately decide not to do so anyway. More power to them.

I think most victims of anorexia and bullemia are trying to make themselves more attractive to men, not to women who typically don't really care how much they may weigh. For instance, just look at all the males who refuse to have anything to do with any woman who is "overweight", even when she is not for her particular build and height. Or, on the flip side, what the stereotypical bull dyke looks like...

Ironically, most victims of anorexia and bullemia are trying to make themselves more attractive to men, not women who usually don't really care all that much how much they weigh. For instance, just look at all the males who refuse to have anything to do with any woman who is "overweight", even when she is not for her particular build and height. Or on the other side of the spectrum, what the stereotypical bull dyke looks like...

This is my point. Anorexic women are the tip of the iceberg. Lots of women worry about their weight and work to keep themselves themselves thinner than the average man finds attractive and do so because that is what they believe makes them sexually attractive.

This, also good point on biologically optimal body fat levels

*Most of the time women are well proportioned imo. Boob jobs are almost always not needed (Yeah sure, I personally prefer "big" women with a a medium to large bust and very big hips, but the fact of the matter is a lot of guy like slim women and don't really care about breast size very much)

** Actually I can't stand this, being in a relationship with a dull girl drives me up the wall.

Porn stars- nay

Large/unnatural breasts- nay

Large hips- nay

Fashion models (the very skinny ones; the "high class" fashion ones)- nay

I would do 75% of porn actresses & only about 5-10% of fashion models (in Elle at least which is what my girl used to read) so I agree with the quote.

Uh, considering that there are sexual fetishes in pornography specifically targeted towards very high and very low levels of body fat, pornography cannot possibly be considered to have a single "body fat content" level to compare to fashion.

I think the OP is distracting people from his point by using porn stars as an example over other healthy women who aren't stick thin. Most men may not want giant or fake boobs. However most men do prefer more curves than models and actresses tend to have these days.

I would like to paraphrase Dane Cook.

He goes into one of those porn booths and the window opens up where a stripper is dancing. She tells Dane that he could lick her vagina for a dollar. He says, "I'd rather lick the dollar."

That about sums it up. There are two incredibly important characteristics that I seek in a mate. First, she has to be healthy. I will avoid those with known or obvious genetic diseases and conditions. I will avoid the overweight or underweight. The second is the mind. I want someone with character, honor, and integrity. I want someone with whom I can relate and get along with -- obviously. Whores need not apply.

I think this is a fair point- "porn star" tends to invoke an image, however accurate, of balloon-breasted monstrosity, probably half way to the Land of Toast-Racks herself. I think a better comparison may be pin-up or "glamour" models, who, although not always un-"augmented", genrally look at least humanoid.
In which case, yes, they generlaly do represent a more attractive level of fat for most men. Perhaps not all men favour the large breasts and curves that are common among them, but I think most prefer "slim" or "curvy" to "skinny". I certainly don't see the attraction of a pouting deck chair, at any rate.

Thats a really good point. :goodjob:

Or as Stephen Colbert recently pointed out on his show:

Ugh. Tiger Woods's wife. What a dog. Get her off the screen.
