Portal 2

That's subject to opinion. If I spent £30 on a night out I'd be heartily disappointed, because night outs aren't worth that much. Likewise, £30 for 6-7 hours of gameplay isn't worth it.

From what I've read it will take the average person about 10 hours to complete the SP.

EDIT: However if there is only 9-10 chapters even if they're long I can't see myself taking more than 8 hours to finish.

I finished it last night. THAT. WAS. AMAZING.

And a spoiler, so you know, don't click it unless you really want to see whats in it and potential spoil it some if you haven't played yet:

Spoiler :

I loved Wheatley. He was an awesome villain.

And I found the Borealis drydock!

How many chapters were there beaver?

8 I think, though Chapter 8 is quite long.

Oh, so I'm on the last chapter. Cool. I shall now shut up about finding how close to the end I am.

You really shouldn't worry about it in the first place and just enjoy the journey :p

All this talk about Portal 2 caused me to play some Portal and one of you (don't recognize the Steam handle) contacted me via Steam thinking I was playing 2.

BTW, for those who do play the co-op version, can you please let us know how it is?

Co-op is pretty fun, if you're doing it with a friend. Tbh, after completing SP, the challenges don't seem to challenging, but its still pretty cool.

Co-op is more like the original portal in that there is not much in the way of storyline, you just keep doing test chambers with Glados' witty remarks overlaid on top.

I am only half way through, so I could well be wrong about how challenging it is, and as I said earlier, there is a LOT of room for valve to release co-op DLC and/or a map editor for community designs.

I finished and wow... that was... AWESOME. I will admit I like the credit song better than 'Still Alive'

EDIT: I beat it in somewhere between 6-6/12 hours. I have 6.8 logged on steam, but around 30-45 minutes of that was my brother. I'm going to try co-op with a friend tomorrow, but I am happy to do some co-op today with whoever wants to.

Considering it only took like an hour or two to beat the first Portal, I say Portal 2 was a big improvement.

Spoilers ahead:

Spoiler :
I'm still confused who that lady GLaDOS was kinda paranoid over. I understand it was Johnson's assistant, but what role did she play?

Spoiler :
Glados IS Johnson's assistant. Well, Johnson's assistant reincarnated in the form of a robot that is.

Spoiler :

Johnson's assistant, Caroline, had her mind transfered into GLaDOS in some experiment to transfer a human mind into a computer. GLaDOS is Caroline, though what remains of her had been hidden deep within GLaDOS.

At least, thats how I understand it

I was wondering if that was the case, but I wasn't sure.

EDIT: My steam played time just jumped to 8.5, so I guess it took me about 8 hours.

just played it through .... man, what a game...
Awesome puzzler and funny as hell.

Gotten it a couple of days ago (Preordered it just a few hours shy of the release date on steam).

Spoiler :

When Wheatley was attacked by the bird in the early part of the game. I initially thought and screamed out CAT!!! CAT!!!! (Yeah, I watched The Nostalga Critic and gotten that from him :p)

Now I need to find the translation for the Ominous Latin Chanting when the turrets were "singing"

Assuming you are referring to me then I'm not sure you understood what I wrote, at all. I said you are the only one on my friends list not playing Portal 2 (except for someone playing TF2 who had already beaten Portal 2).

Portal 2 was so awesome that I've already started a second playthrough. :ack:

Best part of Portal 2 is that there isn't a single part of the game I dislike. Unlike Half-Life, where there are certain sections that I absolutely hate going through.

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive, saved a few £ by ordering it elsewhere but couldn't wait for it to get really cheap. I have high hopes for this game, I got a lot of hours play out of portal even after I finished the story trying to get good times on the advanced maps and get the medals (there's one I just couldn't do quickly enough or in a few enough steps). I hope I get as much fun from this game. The comments sound promising.
