Portal 2

Talking about Portal 2 again, I certainly won't be buying it at full price, especially if there aren't any challenge chambers included. £40-odd is way too much to pay for less than 10 hours' play.

Having been weak and picked it up, I can say it's totally worth it. Haven't finished yet, but enjoying it. :)

Well, firstly it isn't £40, its £30. Secondly, its at least 10 hours play, if you are god like at solving puzzles. Most people (including myslef) spend 7-9 hours on SP and then 4-6 on Co-op. Thirdly, knowing valve, we can expect updates for this game, so I wouldn't totally rule out challenge chambers etc

Also, everyone I know who has played it, has said its fantastic.

Sounds like a rental then.

Well, that's the problem with Co-op. I have no Xbox Live friends whom I don't know in person. :)

You can't just ask someone you don't know in person to play with you. At least I don't. On my steam list there's about 3 people I know in person and I'll only play with them.

In Arakhor's case he knows them in person, which isn't a problem. As for playing with people you don't know in person, that isn't a problem either... I almost always play with people I have not met. All the time. This is also one of the major reasons why we have a CFC Steam group too, so people can find people they are at least somewhat familiar with to play with.

They're online only now. Got mine from them with a further discount I had and it arrived when they said it would. Have bought from them before and had no problem getting a replacement when the strip covering the activation code tore half the activation code off rendering it useless.

If anybody's interested, the developers commentary is also very good (I loved it in the original Portal as well), even if the actual commentary sections are a bit too spread out. The parts about where play-testing influenced the design of the game I think should be listened to by a lot of other game developers :p

Nobody I know owns the game yet, so it's even less inducement to buy the game myself. :)

I'm pretty sure Portal 2 co-op has local split screen (for the console, you can enable it for the PC too apparently) so you only need one copy and a friend over. Also let us know when the price drops for the console, maybe next year :p

Sure you can. I'm playing co op with one of my teammates from TF2, never met the guy, but we're having a blast nonetheless.

Finished the single player story and then went though again gaily breaking monitors etc and trying to get all the remaining single player achievements. Overclocker on the PC certainly takes some practice, I had what looked like some pretty perfect runs that didn't get there and I'm still not sure which one did as the achievement didn't register until I quit the game. Co-op will have to wait for a while though.

That one took me a few tries. Though that was mostly just restarting a few times as I slowly worked out fastest way to do it. Once I did, only took me 2 attempts.

Would anyone recommend any of the mods/map packs for either of the two portal games?
