I got the free Poser 5 download last month from that site so I'll be making some units along with my Bryce buildings when I have time on the weekends. :) I've also thought of using Poser animations to teach my classes so I'll be using Poser more often. ;)

Specifically, I'd like to make pre-industrial Korean units for Civ3. There are some nice East Asian props here, but the problem is that there aren't any Korean props. I need only one prop in order to start my Korean unit production, the Korean "hanbok":

Note that the Hanbok is tied above the waist, mid-way of the torso.

Holy crap seconded!

I don't think anyone would take up on this request. But it was worth a shot to ask.

Well, in that case, I won't be making any Civ3 units then.

I'll still be using utah's tutorial, of course, since I might be using animations to teach my classes. :)

Seriosuly, Try at Rederocity.

There are plenty of hat props like that. In fact, for civ scale, you could probably make one out of primitives - just a couple of cylinders suitably squashed.

I'd say that Kinboat's robe would do fine for the main garment. It's not exactly the same, but it's close enough. You could easily apply a bitmap to make it look like there's a belt around the chest. Kinboat's robe has got a few flaws (most notably, it doesn't bend at the knees). I used it for my magic-user units and wish, in retrospect, that I had given the robe itself a new bone structure to make it a bit easier to use, but no harm done.

No help there. The only "Asian" stuff they have are either Japanese or cliche to point that it is both mildly insulting and mildy amusing. :crazyeye: Even the downloads at Korean sites have no traditional Korean clothing. :crazyeye: :crazyeye:

As for Kinboat's robe, it looks too awkward to be a hanbok.

Anyways, if I don't find the props I'm looking for, I'll simply be using Poser for other things.

Try asking on the Renderocity Poser forums, I asked politely for someone to make a Poser prop(the Thai Crown). Maybe theyd do the same for you?

I've done that already. So far, no one can make it.

It's not like making the Burmese crown. The Burmese crown only consist of basic primitives. Creating a completely new clothing prop would be a much more complex process since it has to conform to figures properly and it is an irregular shape.

It looks great :goodjob: !! It would seem like Ogedei_the_Mad will be making some Korean units after all ;) .

Now this is a wonderful surprise. Once you're finished I can get working immediately on a Jeoson Pikeman and then an Iybyon. :goodjob:

고맙습니다! :D :D

If that's all you wanted, you could have done that with Kinboat's long kilt prop and one of the shirt figures. They would be configured to be used with the latest version of the PDM.

If I'd known how to do that, I would have made it already, now wouldn't I? ;)

I've only done Bryce so Poser is completely different territory.

cool, glad you got it sorted out. I have no problem modeling stuff in Lightwave, Truespace or C4d, but I have yet to have alot of luck making robes and similar clothing. Back before I finished the Troll model, I experimented with making some stuff to fit him (not surprisingly there is very little off-the-rack stuff to fit a big fat troll)... and well it didn't turn out all that well. Instead I stayed with only making more basic stuff. belts, hats, weapons, little armor bits I've had success adapting to Poser/Civ3. There must be some trick to making clothing that I haven't hit upon yet.

Not to pester you or anything, but are you still working on this prop? If you are, release it whenever you have the time. :)
