    @King Rad How you liking your 1660 Ti? I was looking at getting it before I lucked into a basically free 1660 XC Ultra. Looks like your Ti is hitting some great fps!

    @Laurana Kanan So far it seems great.My GTX 960 was continuously showing that it was maxed out while playing, so I started looking at new video cards. And it's been a while since I built my current unit, so I started looking at a complete rebuild. I had thought about getting a gtx 2060, and had really done a lot of comparison work on them. but with the games I play [uhhhhhh, Civ - yep, that's pretty much it], I didn't really see much need to invest the additional cost for what seemed to be a minor if any benefit. Then I found a deal where the parts, including just the required mobo and memory, were more than buying the finished computer with the i7-9700 and the 1660ti. I was very interested when i saw your post, because most reviews don't include Civ in their analysis. considering how well the 1660 seemed to be doing for you was a major part of what finalized my decision. So, now I'm ready for the next expansion [hopefully] and then Civ VII when it comes out.

    So did anyone yet compile all this information and decide what are the most important factors for civ running speed ?

    AMD Ryzen 7 2700, 8 core
    NVidia GeForce RTX 2070
    16 RAM

    DX11 -> 7.46 with 5 tries
    DX12 -> 7.05 with 5 tries.

    All on highest graphics. And FPR was jumping up and down from 45 to 110, medium around 70.

    Benchmark for GS ended up the same for both, around 42 seconds.

    QQ, do you think persistence comes into it much or is that all cache/asynchronous? I ask because people seem to get a bump up going SSD.
    Certainly having a browser and outlook open seems to have an effect as does what you have in your startup.

    I've been real pleased that this machine plays civ very well after three years. I bought a new machine for both Civ5 and Civ6, since I recall the old days when turn times were so slow that I had to wander around the house between moves.

    The 8086K is an Intel binned 8700K with factory OC. Guess my chip is a good one because it can do 5.4GHz, but I run it at 5.3GHz for 24x7 use. I cool it with a Noctua NH-D15. My RAM is a 3200 MHz G.Skill kit cas 14, I’ve got it OC’d to 3333 with the same tight timings. Makes for a pretty potent game PC with my 1080Ti @ 1600p.

    Awesome! those are some solid numbers. I run around 37s on GS AI on a 4.2ghz ryzen 2600 (non x) with a noctua nh14 that has been pumping air out of my previous i5 2500k for 6 years. I cant squeeze it much more tho, I dont go over 45ºC in any situation (several timespy runs back to back), but its already running 1,375v and I dont want to 1,5x the power for +5% gain really. 3200mhz ram too, but I cant seem to go under cas 16.
