Pre-ChaNES: Into the Void

We humbly request permission to remotely research the new lifeforms on Liberty along side the researchers of your esteemed nation to:

1). Verify your results and conclusions
2). To use the understanding of Liberty lifeforms to try and better the human race and their own.
3). To ensure you follow the protocols you have set out.

We request you give our request due and careful consideration before replying. We fully accept you may refuse this request.

OOC: Cha could you, if you have the spare time, give me a rough idea of what planets sustain life so I can set out to begin studying alien life this turn as well as continuing my genetics work? Could you maybe send me a PM regarding those projects and how they progress this update?

As a rule, "bountiful" planets (systems with these are signified with a green name tag) have good enough conditions for primitive native life to have evolved. "Ideal" planets (their systems have blue name tags) have Earthlike quality and accordingly, life as varied and complex as that on Earth. Less hospitable planets have life imported from Earth, genetically engineered to be hardy enough to survive their conditions. The exceptions to these rules are planets that have been sufficiently terraformed to have gone up a rank in quality - all Bacchan life is derrived from Earth species that the colonists used to terraform the planet.

We would like to discuss terraforming.

We are at your disposal in this war against these filthy Pirates. We are preparing to dispatch a science ship to Soyuz, along with a parasite corvette escort, to deal with the skip fighter there. Equipped as it is with advanced Sigma Detection equipment, it should quickly identity where it is being deployed from. Any escort to this ship that you can manage would be appreciated.

General Release
It is our sad news to report our founder and CEO, Oliver Thompson, was tragicly killed in a traffic accident at 8:30AM this morning, durring a trip from home in the outskirts of Londen to the Sonty main offices.
A copy of Eris S.M.I. head of Ra operations, just arrived to deliver her bi-annual report on the colony, has been chosen to serve as the temporary CEO until the board can be assemble to chose a new, permanent CEO later this week.

TerrisH, could you please consult the mod before coming up with any major technological breakthroughs?

OOC: what major breakthroughs?
and if it is really a problem, she could simply be Eris Sophia Martina Isabella, who is currently suffering a mental breakdown from suddenly being thrust into the position of CEO of the largest corporation to have ever existed.

I was referring to the breakthroughs I quoted in the very same post. You haven't even talked to me about researching any sort of "stigma detection equipment," and my intel PM to you certainly didn't include any breakthroughs in artificial intelligence research. Whatever "Eris" ends up referring to, if you're going to pull some crazy stunt on the other players, you should let the mod know in your orders, rather than just pulling it out of nowhere.

OOC: I'll wait on Chandrasekhar's verdict before responding officially to this one.

The IC does not have a formalized policy on sentient machine intelligences, and all humans may go through standard immigration processes to gain citizenship within one of the IC Constituent States.

OOC: ?!? okay.. please give me a full disclosure of how far I am along in EVERYTHING. I am operating in a near vacuum here. several turns ago, I pushed for the development of VI's and eventually AI's. I got no info back. they seemed to have been developed this last turn, so I assumed I had some to, since I am supposed to be near the edge of this technology.
the sigma detection equipment I assumed to be common, if specialized and somewhat expensive equipment, since scientist could detect them from the beginning of the NES.

Your post heavily implied that you had some sort of capability which the Europeans don't have already with regards to stigma detection equipment. I wasn't the only one to interpret the message that way. As to assuming that you had developed an AI simply because I hadn't specifically told you that you hadn't... I shouldn't need to point out how flawed that line of thought is. I know that since this is a Sci Fi NES, it's easy to forget that even this universe has technological boundaries, but having your corporation be led by an AI out of the blue is roughly equivalent to starting a SETI project in a cold war era NES, then posting several turns later to announce that your nation has been taken over by alien overlords. It wouldn't happen there, and it shouldn't happen here.

Bah, lost internet at my house unexpectedly yesterday. I'll get up the info on Liberty's native sapients in a day or two when it's back. Anyway, the stats have been done for a few days now, but I've been getting everything in order for finishing up this Pre-NES. The initial colonization phase is pretty much done, and for the next couple of decades, it should all be steady development. This next turn will be the final turn, and it will last about 25 years. The deadline for orders is Monday, March 9th. Make these as detailed as you can, since they'll have a huge impact on what your colony looks like in the main NES.

@Chand: I wouldn't mind signing up for Brazilian Amazonas.

@Symphony: Of course. In my opinion, Colonists have better things to do than interfere with other planets way over on the other side of the Galaxy. Certainly not until they have become quite established. America revolted, (And really started getting involved in Politics) what 150 years or so after Port Royale was established, or 250 after Columbus discovered America.

Looks cluttered and some of the names are a bit difficult to make out (moreso if you don't know what they are supposed to be); larger scale and maybe more space between systems will therefore help greatly.

Decloak: I find the inclusion of the Galactic coordinate system a bit cluttered, especially since it hasn't been used at all in the Pre-NES (though that may change). Also, I don't think there's much reason to go past the Outer Arm (as even by that point, there probably won't be much in the way of heavy elements required to make rocky moon- or planet-sized objects).

EDIT: What das said, though keep the the galactic arms (but I see little need for the names to be included).

I also agree with das. While it's nice to have the full scale, we need better resolution on the immediate view. If you were to say that the top image is reduced in size and resolution just to fit the forum, then I would like it.

Chand, I'd like a few words with you on MSN, once your connection is back up.
