Pre-KhaNESII: S.P.Q.R

Either you guys are using Google translate, or I'm going to end up feeling rather dumb throughout this NES. :undecide:

@erez87:
Sounds good.

@talonschild:
I believe that Aurelius is a family name, with the last name being "more specific", for lack of a better term. So defining a branch within a family. You and Marcus would have the same ancestors, just way far back.

Or I could just not have any idea what I'm talking about.

Popcorn. Want to make your dad the killer of mine? Under Sulla orders if course. Will give me some nice revenge idea.

If you want, we could make Aulus your dad's murderer instead. My idea for Aulus's father is that he's too incompetent for something like that.

Mods. Plural :p
Of course, I also realize that not everyone knows Latin very well (if at all :p), and Google Translate cannot into success with Latin, so I provide translations anyways :p

Either you guys are using Google translate, or I'm going to end up feeling rather dumb throughout this NES.
Nope, I am using my...almost 4 years of Latin (I started in 6th grade and I'm in my freshman year of high school now) :p

As it was requested, so is it done. Incidentally, I may have to rearrange my name because I never checked out the name generator, relying on the movie Gladiator and a historical novel set in the Ostrogothic Rome - about six centuries later. And I used Google Translate, and then rearranged the words because I thought they were in the wrong order.

Also, the distant ancestor thing makes perfect sense, so if you're less happy with Argetius, feel free to be an Aurelian again, Popcornlord.

Learning Latin in 6th grade...:eek::eek::eek:

Anyway, glad it's finally up!

Name: Servius Licinius Ulpianus, or just Ulpianus

Personal History: The Ulpianus family had never been powerful or influential, being simply another, rather small, patrician family. Servius' father temporarily moved the family to Greece as tensions in Rome grew, and thus the family escaped the civil wars relatively unscathed, as nobody cared about them. Ulpianus received an education there, and is well educated in politics and mathematics, though he is a mediocre fighter at best and is certainly not accustomed to the darker sides of the Roman Senate. After his father's untimely death from typhus, Ulpianus took over the family and returned to Rome to resume his father's seat.

I hope that's acceptable.

@Talonschild: No, you may only have one 'market' per province. It is assumed that there are quite a few towns and cities in the province, but the 'market' building is less a physical building but a network of markets and barracks across the province. Its an abstraction.

You can't transfer away command of a Legion - you're stuck with it until the Consuls take it away. Its just as much of a blessing as a curse though, and the Consuls should be wary of handing out Legions to their enemies to stop them from voting - you're handing a powerful army to an enemy, and if you do it too much you probably will start a civil war.

The Senate itself cannot transfer command of a Legion from Senator A to B, but the Consuls can. The consuls can transfer Legion command in a bill. The Senate can make the recommendation to Consuls, however.

Of course, if you really don't want to give up your Legions, you can always rebel...

There is a map, though the provinces themselves aren't set in stone yet.

@Everybody else. Hold on a tick, I'll have your character's stats up shortly.

Lucky. I ended up taking a year of Latin on my own, but my high school only offered Spanish and French. That was a few years ago, though, so I doubt I will have the slightest clue what anyone's saying.

Well, the school I went to for 1st-8th grade made you choose one of three languages (Latin, Spanish, or French) to take in sixth grade, and seeing as it was extremely split up (and 6th grade was just an intro) I only have got really 1 year of Latin, this being my second :p
I'm now at a high school that does the International Baccalaureate diploma, though, and its Latin department is great. and since I'm in Latin II now, I am taking IB-level Latin next year. Like a boss :p

A lot of intriguers here, not a lot of commanders. Oh well, you'll get command traits from winning battles anyway. :p

Yeah, I speak literally no latin. I am seriously impressed with you guys right now. :p

Wow, SamSniped - I almost wish you were still Aurelius for that nice undercurrent of fratricide...

@Grandkhan: Most of us have a 0 in management. Does that mean that, if we're Governors, we collect 0 funds?

And you gave Ulpianus 1 Intrigue when he's supposed to get 1 Management.

I'd join, but I don't have too much time, while I do have too many games.

My school stopped offering Latin the year I joined. Seriously. :( I ended up in French after hearing that Spanish makes you sing all the time.

On-topic, I'll try to design a commander character if that is allowed.

@Talonschild: No, you just don't get any bonuses as of yet. Not to worry, though - you gain traits by basically doing normal activities, so after a point most of you will have a decent amount of Management.

@Nintz: thats perfectly acceptable. Go ahead. :)

The second reason for me not to join is that I feel like stupid because not knowing Latin. God damn you, SamSniped. :p

Actually I went to military academy :p

But that's ok. And Ok popcorn your guy can be my father's murderer. But for now I won't know that and you will.

I am very tempted to use just Latin this whole game, and provide translations :p

Name: Marcus Argetius Viator
Description: Marcus is the son of Tiberius Argetius Viator, who was a friend of Sulla and military officer until his untimely death. Marcus was born and raised in the city of Rome, and was taught at home by his father, who taught Marcus the ways of diplomacy and command. Marcus signed up for the Roman army at once, and was assigned to Sulla's personal legion. He quickly rose through the ranks, and eventually took an active role in the Second Mithridatic War under Sulla's command. He returned to Rome two years after its end, and began his political career right before Sulla's death. He helped carry out all of Sulla's wishes, and is now in the Senate, as per the wishes of his now dead father.

Bumping this to the top so GK remembers :p
Et amo te etiam, Joan.
Spoiler :
And I love you too, Joan :p

@Talonschild: I suppose so. I hadn't really thought about it yet.

@Samsniped: Hadn't forgotten it, was doing something else. :p
