Pre-Order Brave New World

I preordered on Steam yesterday.

I've come a long way with both Steam and Civilization since 2010. Back when it was announced that Civ5 was going to be bound to Steam I was absolutely furious because I didn't even know what Steam was. Now I have all my best games there.

I ended up hating the initial release of Civ5 because it was in such disorder, but I stuck with it, mostly for old times' sake and tried it again at each patch; I finally ended up liking Civ5 with Gods and Kings. Just this last weekend I had my first game of Civ5 that lasted days and nights and the "Just one more turn" effect had finally hit me, just like back in the day with Civ1. Wow.

After that, there was no question about the fact that a preorder of Brave New World Order [sic!] was in order! It has taken three years and two expansions, but Civ5 has turned into a worthy successor in a series I have loved and followed since 1991.

^^Love these stories

And yeah, for me Civ: BNW is the very first game I've ever pre-ordered. Usually I wait for a sale, whether Steam or elsewhere. (A testament to the series. Still going strong with no signs of slowing down)
But recent years you just can't beat Steam

Well, you might need to have the Steam version of Civilization V (and not the one in the AppStore). These keys are Steam keys, and since this game has SteamPlay, you get access to both the PC and Mac versions! :)

The greenmanGAMING (not dragons) voucher for -25% in the OP doesn't work anymore.

For now (this week?) there's a 20% voucher: GMG20-6WUSQ-LBC4U
Which makes the game cost 21.60 €.

Just pre-ordered it and paid via paypal.

My girl and I have been playing Civ V on and off since it came out. We're addicts!

Gods and Kings gave the game what for me was lacking (being also addicted to Civ4, missing the religion, etc) and since we heard about Brave New World, we've been very excited waiting for it. I even bookmarked it on my calendar and put an alarm on my phone for the day it was coming out: June 12! :crazyeye:

The very morning I saw on Steam it was available for pre Order, I ordered it! I wasn't even well awake, but I was excited and happy, cause we already had it ordered! just a few more days left!...

Imagine my dissapointment when I discovered I missread the launch date. Who named these months anyway?! June and July, even in Spanish, Junio y Julio, sound too damn similar. Or I was just a sleepy idiot.

The wait has just become unbearable. I want to play so baaaad! :D

Hey all,
I'm not sure if this is the best place for this, but I felt I should let the community know that Green Man Gaming currently has a voucher that gives an additional 25% off of their already 10% discounted digital download of Brave New World. I was able to purchase the expansion for $20.25. Cheers, and good luck!

Update: Seems they did the same thing for Gods and Kings back when it was released. And no, I am not affiliated with GMG. Also, I am aware it is on the 'pre-order options' sticky, but I missed that the first few times I browsed the list, and feel I should emphasize how good of a deal this is.

Moderator Action: Merged with the preorder thread.

When G&K was released, I remember how some people outside the US got the game running before the launch date for Europe, and they had GMG preorders.

No I'm not affiliated with GMG either.

And oooh no my G&K didn't start playing early. :D

Price at amazon.co.uk dropped to £16 (from £19.99). Now that's an offer I can't refuse :mischief:

Preordered one for myself and one for a friend to get free delivery, for €19,45 each.

Yes, the current Green Man Gaming (GMG) discount works until a little after this weekend (actually until Monday, July 1st, 3 PM UST, which should be 11 AM Eastern, 10 AM Central, or 8 AM Pacific time) but I wouldn't wait until tomorrow! ;)

The code is:

GMG25-BAWQB-8UQWG

for a total price of $20.25

In addition, if you are new to GMG and don't have an account yet, you can also use the "Friend Referral" mechanism to get $2 credit (for you and the referrer each) by creating a new account, for an effective price of $18.25.

If you do not currently have an account with Green Man Gaming, you can:

1. Enter the link < http://www.greenmangaming.com/?gmgr=liligaqa >

That one is the link for me (you can use someone else's if you really want). If you use the link, it will just take you to the main page and doesn't *appear* to do anything. (But it creates a temporary cookie that only works if you immediately create an account).

2. You then create an account (apparently it doesn't work if you already have an existing account) with Green Man Gaming with the "Log In / Register" option.

3. Add Brave New World to your cart and enter in the promotional code (so the total is $20.50).

4. After you check out, you should end up with a credit balance of $2 (for using the Refer-a-Friend promotion).

5. The BNW key isn't released until the game is released. You can find it by entering your GMG account, select the "Games" category and under the "Steam Games" heading. It should show BNW and a space where the key will appear when it is released.

Even after the current code (for this weekend) lapses, you can still use the "Friend Referral" process (listed above) if you purchase from GMG (using no code, or another future code they promote) for the $2 credit.

I bought from GMG the first time last year with G&K, and the referral process helped accrue a small amount of credit that I just used to help buy BNW (and those who used the referral got the same amount of credit). Let me know if you have any questions. :king:

That's helpful news, Halcyan2. Can the $2 credit be used immediately against the BNW purchase? Or only on a next purchase?

The next purchase.

It doesn't appear until after you have made your first purchase. So if BNW is your first purchase, you can't apply the $2 credit to it, but you can use it for whatever you buy next!

If you have a creditcard and a civv-playing friend *, you can order two copies of BNW @ amazon.co.uk, which will be even cheaper (2x £16 or 2x €19.50). We are Dutch, so we are culturally indebted to be on the lookout for the best deal :p

* You would need to order two copies at once to be eligible for free super saver delivery. With shipping costs, it won't be as interesting.

@Mercade: could you update the first post with this new significantly lower Amazon.co.uk price? I mentioned it in an earlier post, but you seem to have missed it :)

Presumably everyone already has the basic Civ V. But if you don't (or know someone who wants to give the game a try), GMG is having a 6 hour sale (yeah, 6 hours) where the basic Civ V is 75% off (for a total of $7.49), and you can still get the $2 referral credit if you follow the instructions in my post (a few posts back).

This sale lasts until 21:00 UTC on Tuesday, July 2nd (which is 5 P.M. Eastern, 4 P.M. Central, 2 P.M. Pacific).

And if you play other games available on GMG, you should check every 6 hours to see what the new deal is. (No clue whether or not BNW or any of the DLC will be one sale this way).
